Ki has so many fun characters I always end up labbing setups and stuff for one for like 5 min then swapping nonstop lol. I wish the ranked wasn’t one and done tho. Always just keep using the same 1-2 setups every match. Since there’s really no set play in one and done.

Did you play Mk9, Fam? You remind me of some of my technical days

I wonder if another company will step up and create a next gen KI.
If so, I hope Cell Dweller, Mick Gordan, And Jeremy Zuckerman do the music, AND I hope everyone in the current ki make it in With Doom Slayer being a guest character, cause, Mick Gordan........obv

@Ck AeroVoid We'll have to see what happens. At least we know Killer Instinct (2013) will work with next gen hardware.

Do we know why Mick Gordon didn't compose Season 3?

I know he's had a falling out with Bethesda, so no more DOOM for him.

Wasn't that around 2016? Or maybe early Doom eternal works. Shame Bethesda did that too. I mainly played Doom 2016 to blow off stream with his music

Killer Instinct Season 3 was 2016. It was around the completion of DOOM: Eternal that he had his falling out with Bethesda. I don't 100% know the reason behind it, but I know the music in that game was composed by him, but most of the tracks were not mixed by him.

DOOM (2016) was all him though. Great soundtrack and great game.

Yeah is stuff was mixed horribly and he hated how they got his music and turned it completely different

@Hellbringer I'm beginning to think your criticism's of the game's match making system are accurate after all.

After a week break from the game (save for our casuals last Sunday), I started doing my requalifiying matches .

My first opponent was a Gold Tier who was above my skill, which was fine. My next opponent was a Silver Tier opponent who quit at Character Select.

My next four opponents were all Killer Tier. Every single one. I could barely touch them as said Tier is well above my Skill. I fail to see how this equates to proper matchmaking and Rank qualifying.

My seventh opponent was another Qualifier. I left after completing this Match and will finish my Qualifiers another day, though I'm currently 2-5 this time.

I suppose on the plus side, I'm pretty much guaranteed a low Tier placement, likely lower than my actual level, so it'll be interesting to see if I can climb up, or if it'll keep tossing me against Killer opponents...

@Ck AeroVoid I thought you'd find this interesting. This video shows an opponent who is a Combo Assist button masher:

See how his combos are truly almost identical, save that he blows them out sometimes? Otherwise, he uses the same Ender every time, and it's a Battery Ender. Yet he never uses Shadow Metre once, or Instinct. I'm 99.9% sure Jago's Endokuken is one of his Assist Enders, and this demonstrates the player has a very novice understanding of the game's overall mechanics and execution, which Combo Assist can not make up for.

That I know, but I do see new players. I've fought many newer and mid-level players. I also thought the player base for the game was increasing?
It's too bad I am in asia otherwise we could play regularly and level up. One thing tho, that guy who quit at character select probably didnt quit. There seems to be no filter for ping and he probably just lagged out. That happens to me about 30% of my matches and 3 of my placement matches.

Thanks man. I'm not frustrated with the guy who quit/dropped, but I am frustrated at being matched against four Killer Tier opponents in a row, and during Qualifiers no less!

That's pretty bad, considering it's obvious they're way above my skill level.

I dunno bro I got matched with a killer and actually won. Just try not to get overwhelmed and playing opponents who are better than you is pretty fun imo and best way to lvl up. As fun as it is getting matched up vs dudes who guess break on frame 1 of your first linker (literally the entirety of bronze/50% of silver players). Most of the time I bet you defeat yourself by thinking "aw fuck killer... gg" before game starts.

Side note as I am lvling up my game I notice a lot of people mentioning unbreakable damage combos. How are these done? For instance one of the characters I am tryinng to pocket is maya and ki infil mentions she can do 20% unbreakable easily but I don't understand how that can be.

Man I just played against my own shadow jago shadow. Got teabagged by myself. If that isn't the coolest feature tho btw of any fighting game I have ever played I dunno what is. Can you dl shadows of like top players and practice vs them?

Well i think matchmaking could have been better for newer players but like others said the playerbase is too small to find better matches. I mostly play exhobition and i can find decent matches regulary. Alot of good players dont leave when they are up 10-0 wich is cool.

You've also got to take into account that many casual players are intimidated with online. I've got a buddy who asks me about the game every now that then, and he NEVER plays ranked. So yeah, ranked players are an even smaller subset of the community.

No, I actually have beaten a Killer Tier opponent in a Match before, and in others I've occasionally taken off a life bar.

I'm a very analytical individual (in everything, not just games), and I'm very good at self reflection and admitting my faults/limitations, as it's a great way to improve (acknowledge something and then work on it). Right now, I know the vast majority of players in Killer Tier are well beyond my skill level; their fundamental knowledge of the game's mechanics simply outclass me.

This isn't a put-down on myself or a negative mindset, it's simple fact. If I continue to put in the time and effort, I may indeed get there myself, but I'm certainly not there yet.

And absolutely, playing better players challenges you and forces you to step up, however if you're continually playing people who are too ahead of you, you actually won't improve as well because you are not given the opportunity to properly and effectively apply what you're learning and further refine it. You're taking on high level tests without having had the time to properly learn the material.

You play StarCraft II, do you play Ranked? I made Platinum 2 at my peak, and on occasion I was being matched against Diamond players. Sometimes I'd beat them, sometimes I wouldn't. But it would force me to macro and micro better, to improve my response times, and learn from those losses. Then, matching me up against others around my skill level, I'd be able to apply and refine those new skills, and if I began outclassing them, the system moved me up and began matching me against tougher opponents more against my new skill level to further that refinement.

However this would be like that system matching me up against Master opponents constantly. I wouldn't be moving up for a long, long time simply because I'm not being given the opportunity to learn as they shut you down too fast; they truly outclass you.

Perhaps, but most of my Ranked Leagues matches have been against Gold and Silver Tier opponents, so they're out there. It's possible I was just playing at the wrong time when Killer Tier was all that was available, but to have four in a row, when you clearly can't handle them, in Qualifiers, that was very frustrating and disappointing.
