Abby's a really good character, but definitely not one I'll "remember fondly", just since her story arch is super depressing.

I actually failed the Ellie vs Abby fight on the last chapter the first time I played it because my brain was noooot letting my thumbs hammer the square button to slowly plunge a knife into Abby.
The redeeming quality of Abby is she's knows she's irredeemable. Even Abby doesn't actually forgive herself, and she's left with protecting Lev as the only thing giving her purpose as a way to make the world slightly less shitty place than she's made it.
Abby's cruelty also indirectly got Owen killed and she's likely aware of that too. Not just by provoking Ellie though. The torture fucked Owen up mentally and he had reached his capacity to inflict harm, and Abby knows damn well she was a huge part in pushing him over that limit where he couldn't bring himself to kill that old scar, leading him to go AWOL along with all that bad that happened after.
