Btw guys, how do i get this red and white fulgore skin? Is this an exclusive thing or something?
IDK if it's the one you were talking about, but there is a Fulgore skin out there that was part of a statue exclusive. I only know about it because Nicky was raffling off old codes away for it in his stream a few weeks back.

Is that all you read I feel you skipped over everything I said before. Even others agreed with what I said
I've read everything you've said, that's why I'm saying you still don't seem to understand what combo assist does and doesn't do.

Here's what I see: it allows mashing cause you can spam the same button for one mega combo
I did that b4 and got bored of the game for a year! Just got boring because of how it seemed. Sure I don't use it with the full potential or whatever, I have just always seen it as a Noob helper tool more than anything else.

Like a.i drive assist in Mario kart 8d
You cannot get better using a tool that keeps you from failing.

That is why I see it as I do lol.
Mashing the same button just means your combo can be broken with zero effort.
Combo Assist doesn't keep you from failing, it's not the same thing.

And again, this is just for combos. CA doesn't help you with learning anything else on how to play the game, score hits, defend mix, etc. It only gives you a limited training tool for learning HOW to participate in the combo system at its most surface level. That's literally all it does.

There is one other way to get it though, you have to get a code. Codes for colors still get given out in KI streams and on social media every once in a while, but you have to be lucky (or unlucky in my situation) to get one.

I got a few color 9's back when Season 3 was just coming out due to the game having some issues during launch. The devs took pity on a few of us during that time and gave out a bunch of codes.

You cant use manuals if u have combo assist on right? When i had it turned on i couldnt do any manuals anymore so that was a big no for me.
No, you can indeed perform Manuals with Combo Assist.

So its basically a easy mode with some limitation, that sounds pretty lame.
No. If you want to actually read how it works, here's the official post from the developers with examples.

If all you do is mash, then:

  • Your Combos will be ridiculously easy to break
  • You'll constantly blow out your Combos
  • You'll only perform Enders that you don't know how to capitalize on
You'll be doing combos, but they simply won't be any good and you'll be missing out on a lot of damage. Button mashing, like in any other fighting game, will only work against novice players at-best.

I dunno i guess I have a different mindset, I would rather focus on improving then getting having my inputs dumbed down, Like if I was playing someone who never played fighting games I would make them use it. If you have fg experience though I do not see the benefit unless you just want a better chance of winning vs equally skilled players that know how to play fighting games.
Here's the thing though, it's such a well designed tool, you can have it on and not use it at all! Your inputs take priority, so if you have Combo Assist enabled and, in a Combo you perform the motions for, say Fulgore's Blade Dash, the game will prioritize your inputs over the Combo Assisted process!

So even if it's on, you can override it simply by playing the game "normally."

Which is why you can't really bother with ca, cause the moves are tied together essentially
Combo Assist does not change frame data. Your best buttons, for pokes, anti-airs, etc. are completely unaffected by Combo Assist.

If you hold forward and walk it auto applys you don't really choose
This is incorrect. Taken straight from the above linked article: "•If your normal attack makes contact with the opponent on hit or block, and you tap another attack button within the cancel window, you will perform an Assist Opener Special Move. This has all the same negatives on block as doing this normally! "

If Forward + Attack got you into the Combo sequence every time as you suggest, you'd never miss an Opener with Combo Assist enabled. I assure you, I miss a lot of Openers off normals.

Well then....I learned lots today .

I did my ten Qualifying Matches, and had a great time. I didn't experience the crazy tea bagging and extended Ultra combos you guys were mentioning (yet), but I'm sure it'll happen at some point.

I've been placed in Gold League, as I went 9-1. It really should have been 8-2, as my ninth match was against someone in "Killer" rank, but they quit at Character Select, I don't know why. They had a +13 on their profile card, so I guessed that to mean he was rank 13 on the ladder, and I expect that to be above my skill level. I'm guessing this "win" inflated my performance.

If that did occur, how will matchmaking work? If I'm continually matched against players of higher skill, will it ultimately recognize this and begin matching me with more appropriate players? That's how the Ladder in StarCraft II works?

And on my own profile now, aside from the Gold Bar at the bottom, it says "Master." Are there subranks in Ranked Leagues?

Overall though, I'm having a blast.

Was it a star with a 13 next to it?
Each month the game has a top 32 leaderboard that resets. If I'm remembering this correctly, making top 32 before the reset awards you a star, meaning that player made it 13 times.

Yes. You can never drop below Gold now that you've been placed in it, but you can derank to the lowest sub rank of Gold.

You can also choose to re-qualify and fight back up the ladder.

Yes, that was it, a star not a plus. Shame, it would have been fun to actually play him.

For subranks, is there somewhere I can look to see the different rankings? In StarCraft II, for example, you have the different Leagues, i.e. Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, Master, and Grand Master. Bronze to Master has sub leagues, so there's Bronze 3, Bronze 2, Bronze 1, Silver 3, Silver 2, Silver 1, Gold 3, etc.

One season a few players well above me quite during placement, giving me the win, and it inflated me. I ended up in Platinum 2 when I knew I should have been in Gold 1 or Platinum 3. I naturally went on a loosing streak which reduced my MMR down to Platinum 3 level. I recall in StarCraft II, you can loose your League placement, but when the Season ends, you're awarded based on your highest placed League. A week or so later, I legit battled my way up to Platinum 2, and that's the best I personally was able to achieve in StarCraft II. Considering I play Random, I was happy with that.

Yup, I did see that. I'll do that if I have to, but I'll see how things go. For all I know, Gold will be just fine and a healthy mix of challenge and learning.
I like to re-qualify when i wanna try to reach killer using a new character. This weekend I'm planning to jump back in KI for real and do the re-qualification.

I wanna say there's about 4 or 5 sub ranks per tier so yeah I think it works basically like other standard ranking systems such as Starcraft or League of Legends, minus being able to drop down a tier.

Good stuff man, enjoy! I've simply been rotating between my three characters. So I play as Fulgore, then Sadira, then Orchid in that order.

Cool, we'll see how I do. I'll let you guys know how I'm finding it, and keep uploading my matches to YouTube.

Can someone pls explain to me what I need to purchase to get all the characters I’m missing? I bought the season 1 and 2 premium packs years ago but season 3 says it has 8 characters. My char select screen however is missing 11. I am really interested in trying Kim wu Mira and shin hisako

Kim Wu and Mira are S3, Shin Hisako is part of the last 3 bonus characters they made for the game (Kilgore, Eagle, Shin Hisako), so they technically don't belong to a seasonal bundle.
The Definitive Edition and Steam edition includes all characters, but otherwise you'd have to buy the bonus character separately I'm pretty sure.

Ranked on xbox is such crap, as a low bronze i faced 90% of the time killers so far alot of them with stars too.
lol bro I did 7 of my qualifying matches this morning and no lie.... 5 of them were against the same guy who most likely just downloaded the game. His account was lvl 2 and he was using lvl 1 arbiter (the current free character). I am not great by any means but I felt bad for that guy lol

So far, I'm having a lot of fun with it and have found matchmaking to be working pretty good. Including my qualifying matches, I've played about sixteen or seventeen Matches/Sets.

I've had two Killer Tier opponents thus far, the first was the one I mentioned who Quite at Character Select during a Qualifying Match. The second was Tyzo, a professional tournament player who placed 9th at Combo Breaker in either 2016 or 2017, and also placed well in the Killer Instinct World Cup 2017. That was a cool Set since it's rare I face someone of that calibre, and yes, I was barely able to touch him.

For a matchmaking system in general, the system is doing it's job correctly if your win percentage is about 50%, plus or minus a little. This means it truly is finding you opponents in your skill range. If you're well above, or well below that marker after a dozen or so games, that means the system isn't working properly, or the player pool is too small to permit it to work properly.

Post-Qualifying Matches, now in Gold Tier, I'm currently 4-3, I believe. That tells me that, at least for now, the system is working well.

Then why do i face almost only new ppl on steam but on xbox mostly high rank? Doesnt add up. Im fine if its occasionally but if 8 out of 10 matches is against high ranked killers as low bronze thats kinda ridicilous.
