How Cassie should look

agreed.. a great example of this was the casting of the film Wonder Woman. WB had the opportunity to show a new kind of female body type by casting someone that looks the part, as in someone tall and muscular.. but instead we got the same skinny, supermodel type.

Wonder Woman should have looked like some of those cosplaying body builders or maybe a X UFC fighter like Gina Carano (from Mandelorian)
100%.

A lot of the posts you see here are an example of why this isn't done, though. People expect every female character to look like a model, dress like a dancer, and basically embody a stereotype that is decades old.. Guaranteed that making a decision like this would invite tons of unwarranted criticism or they'd feel it wouldn't sell.

I'm looking forward to the day when we say a lot of different types of people represented even in hero roles, and we're slowly getting there, but we've got a ways to go. That goes for female fighters of course, but also lots of other types of archetypes too.

Man stop it. Nobody wants to play as an ugly fat broad, especially not in a series as mindless as Mortal Kombat. It pushes the envelope in every direction, but all of a sudden it has to be the series that leads the charge in representing everyone? That shit is boring man. I can't wait for this shit to die down and we actually start to get costumes that weren't designed with a gun to the back of the artist's head

I don’t think characters with a different build or look, like say, Zarya from Overwatch are best characterized as an “ugly fat broad”, but thanks for proving my point about how narrowminded people can be on this topic.

We're not talking about unfit and unhealthy body types, we're talking about making women more diversified when it comes to musculature. I'm a 5'8 woman with broad shoulders and a lot of muscle, that ain't fat, and you're a damn idiot if you think so.

MK pushing the envelope, as you said, would be to make some women that fit the bill a bit more buff. So, the ladies that are in the military should have muscle definition at least.

Which makes sense. MK1/2 were supposed to be tournaments so theoretically the fighters would be ready for that. Later games they're just fights, so they fight in whatever clothes they wear day to day.
And whilst that's fair enough, we are just talking about alternative outfits here, and considering Cassie herself has a Harley Quinn costume and space suits, Johnny has a tux and a mime, Kano has a pirate hat, Skarlet has a Russian general, the terminator has a fourth-wall-breaking MK11 t-shirt, it's a bit of a moot point that the new plot isn't a structured tournament.

Even if all of Cassie's gear was military styled, I'd still want her to have something more realistic and basic. All the sci-fi armour just looks silly to me, especially how all the main SF members wear totally different things to one another in bizarre colours, I'd much prefer to see a common uniform available to them all than silly "wear what you like to the army" costumes, reminds me of those Aliens action figures from the early 90s which would have looked so much better had they been made to look like the real marines from the film.

Anyway, I'd love for her to have something like Sonya's new Sarah Connor skin or Jacqui's 'Boot Camp' from MKX, something an actual soldier in hand-to-hand combat would wear. My default Sonya below looks absolutely awesome IMO... and actually matches the soldiers behind her. I really wish Cassie could look this good:

I know, which is why the last line of that comment was:

Still doesn't mean that some of the outfits couldn't have a little more flare about them. I still don't understand why there's spacesuit cassie?!
That comment you quoted was specifically in response to the quote from CrimsonShadow about outfits being story related.

Gina Carano is more the right look for WoWo imo... but I think they should have gone even more. I mean Superman, Wolvareine, Thor, Captain America and stuff the actors basically need to do body building to play those roles, and I think WoWo should have been the same. Maybe not "traditionally" the look that people associate with sexy women, but that is the point. This was a opportunity to expose people to a different body type for a change and there are millions of people that would find the look sexy, and millions of young girls could see how there is more than just the normal fashion model look.

Some Examples.

Of course they still need to be able to act, but I'm sure somewhere on the planet there was a woman with the body of Wonder Woman who can act. I mean they found Henry Carvil guy, and he is like a perfect Superman.

Tom Welling is also a great Superman if he agreed lol. He was asked during Smallville but had to reject due to the contract, if you've seen him now he's buff af. But yeah I think the first chick is way too big, the second is perfect though. It's funny most before they saw WW hated Gal's choice, were like too skinny, not big enough etc, etc then once they saw it were like "OMG the best WW ever!!" lol I like her, she did get more ripped for the role, her height is perfect, looks etc.

The Gina Carano girl would have been alright but I think she's too big also, only in some comics has WW been drawn really buff but most she's more muscular or thinner yet athletic looking.

But it's all about the realism of what a real woman would wear to an actual fight. Like a space suit, night vision goggles, ten belts, restrictive vacuum-sealed full-body leather, thigh-high kitten-heeled boots...

... Right.

Hang on, is that the current Sonya, what on earth are you wearing?!?!!

Bro why did you post pictures of strippers? No one wants to see that here, what a disgusting display of skin, I mean honestly how can you IncELs expect to be taken seriously posting things like this.

I do not watch teh CW shows as they are basically soap operas, just modern "Dallas" or "Days of our Lives" or "Melrose Place"... BUT.. I d watch teh "cross over" eps.. . and I have to say.. Welling looks so the part. Just compare him, I only saw the ep where he was chopping wood, to the other guy that got to play Superman or the dude playing the Kingdom Come superman.... Welling's physique is a zillion times better suited, I mean he actually "looks" like superman.

I wouldn't say they're all soap operas, some.more than others. Arrow and flash I'd say are less compared to supergirl and batwoman tbh. Smallville had a mix of everything but it was also him growing up into superman so naturally alot of stuff was a first for him which made sense.

Yeah I agree about his physique, he was always tall and looked the part but now hes even bigger as you've seen. Imo Reeves, Wellings and Cavills are the beat Supermen.

funny you should say that, as Arrow is particularly the one I am talking about when I say it is EXACTLY like a soap opera. The fact it has a tiny bit of kicking in it dose not remove form the fact that it uses traditional soap opera plots and beats.

In fact I tried to watch Arrow about 3 years ago, just if it has improved and was so grossed out by how terrible it was I made a video, which is just a cut form the episode I tuned in for..

  • Mellow dramatic music
  • standing around with their back to each other
  • Woman in a coma
  • Bribery to murder another character
  • Interwoven inter-personal stuff (sisters, husbands, arch villains being related, fathers, babies)
  • Trying to walk away in a huff only to have the arm gabbed and her spun around for more intense chatting
  • scene ending on a note and a long stare at the coma person.
I mean this could literally BE a scene from days of our lives and it is not like this is out of character scene fro these shows.

There is nothing wrong with soap operas I just do not like them, they are extremely popular for a reason, but do not kid yourself ALL the CW shows ARE soap opera. They are just modern ones.... this is what the soap opera like Melrose place or w/e have turned into.

I stopped watching arrow few years ago to be fair but the first few seasons seemed darker, less about the love story but honestly what show doesnt have some sort of love drama? Lol I mean pretty much every comic show DC, marvel etc has one. Though I would say preacher and the boys didnt focus much on it but even those shows which are dark af had some romance.
