Jax Pre-Release Discussion Thread

Jax d1 now -4 on block (was 0)

D1 now 7f startup (was 8)

Gotcha grab restand seems significantly nerfed but fair

Tonnnnns of characters got huge nerfs. These seem semi-fair. Again my biggest gripe someone just alluded to, grab pressure is fun but there’s literally no combo potential.

So I have been doing some testing. He still has his great D1; D3 tick throws but others are gone.

B2; F33; F2 into throws are gone. Im especially saddened with F2 into tick throw being gone.

So he only has two tick throws?
From what I tested 30min ago - yes. Maybe somebody else found more?

Question is why they removed F2 or F33 TT when he literally has almost 0 combo potential.

@16 Bit was that intentional? There were no mention of tick throws in hotfix IIRC.

Watch gun shows youtube his latest video against Liu Kang you see it used quite a bit

I’m tryna figure out with his tick grab what reason do they have to stand up after his d1 or d3? I can’t seem to see it

It does not matter they stand up after D1/D3 or not. It doesnt matter even if they let go blocking after they first block D1/D3. They are still getting grabbed.

Try this with AI settings to block "All" or just record AI to do D1/D3 tick on you and try to stop blocking/continue ducking etc.

what i mean is, if they keep crouching my grab whiffs right? So I was tryna see what i can do after d1 to condition them to stand up so I can start doing the tick grab. Because to me if I'm playing jax and he does d1 im just gonna keep crouching. You get me? Or am I misunderstanding something.

Edit: tried it again I was under the impression that you could duck after a tick still, thank you bro!

Np. His D1/D3 ticks are legit. I prefer D3 in neutral because of its range.

D1 is also great in restand corner situations. You do gotcha grab into restand, then bully them with D1 tick, regular throws, staggers etc.

That looked fire! How is GB's mixup potential?
The mixups are def better and the combos are a lot more fun, but not having the KB grab enders or the quad grab obviously hurts and his projectile absorb thing feels kinda useless since he gets heated arms so fast regardless.

I had HUGE troubles againt a keep away sub zero I played for like an hour with both variations. The duck and weave seems to not be all that great at closing the distance against really good zoners

Might give it a try but from what you said I think I'll stick with grab variation. After all thats the only reason I picked this character over others. I love cmd grab characters. And I never ever before played Jax in any MK game until now xD

so can someone tell me what are his tournament variations? I can't check right now and have read that the two preset variations we have arent the tournament variations
