Jax Pre-Release Discussion Thread

i have a serrious question , im not trolling. ive been a jax player since mk2. played him in mkx and did local tourney with him. i felt at the begining that he was pretty good maybe top 10.

but then they nerfed him really bad with the stamina patch. after a combo breaker you have no combos and you cant do run cancel like you could before. then after they took his armor out of his dash fist because of a bug and never fixed it. keep in mind you can even fuzzy guard all his mixups.i feel everytime jax is good or top tier NRS put him into the ground just like they did in mk9 and mkx. Is it because his a rush down 50/50 character ? and people get salty because you getting mixed ? they forgot you have to actualy get in ? Mk11 seems zoning heavy it will be hard to get in.Even if jax is good my call is they will nerf him to shit again. Why ? ask paulo
He was nerfed but wrestler was still pretty good. He still had good damage, nornals, frames, and mixups. He just had shitty wakeups. And idrc if he struggles with zoning in this game. He struggled with good zoning in mk9 and mkx as well.

jax in mkx isnt top 10 not event top 20 , he has too many flaws and too many hard match ups. hes a high execution high risk high reward character with way too much effort require to get something going like ive said his mix ups are fuzziable yeah i invented that word.

im not downplaying him his just trash tournament wise. a lot of low tier have good normals and frames but you dont see them winning anything just like papa jax.

I'll be interested to see how well he deals with zoning. I don't remember him looking particularly mobile, other than the new dash punch.
To the boxing ducking stand, I wanted to add that I was playing MK9 today and while using Jax I had to deal with a zoner. It was possible by using Ground Pound, and while the opponent is in the air, Dash Punch. Get close and don't let them go!
If you have a window of opportunity, a quick Energy Wave might help to stun the opponent a bit.

I'm going to watch some videos of Jax in MK11 and see if this strategies are possible.

Dashpunch in Mk9 recovered super fast and you could cancel the ground pound which was unblockable and in MK11 its a low (at least all the other groundpounds are) so its not really compareable

Never said he was top 20. Just saying he wasn’t trash. He wasn’t nearly as good as he used to be but he could hold his own against most of the cast.

something I just noticed, jax's NON METER BURN grenade launcher knocks down on hit! This is excellent and will help a lot in zoning battles.
I noticed this as well, I don’t remember if it’s a base kit move or not though.

If it is he has a pretty good trading tool.

I like all of his variaiton moves but I can’t see myself ever using anything but quad slam and burning hammer.

His other moves give him a lot of utility but I feel like those two grabs plus his base stuff is strong enough.

They way they said it it sounded like it was base kit. I’m basically gonna have the command grab cuz that’s my mix up right there

Honestly I’m more hype for burning hammer, that animation and impact looks so satisfying.

Can’t wait to dunk fools online
What does it do again?
Edit: Oh i gotcha thats the air grab right? I think if it has priority over jump ins then we will be good

R.I.P. War Hero.

Yet another reason to be salty about the "let's not tell them there won't be customization in tournaments until AFTER the Beta" swerve.

You know they literally only changed the name right?

Everything in War Hero is in Hunker Down.

All the stuff in the second variations they showed is also in his other tourney variation.

He has the exact load outs we saw on stream except the second variation has a new move we didn’t get a look at yet.

The way he holds his hands during the icon makes it seem like a counter though which is cool

...well, damn.
Thanks for keeping me on point, 'Dact.

What about the Lobo shotgun, though?
I mean the biggest sell to me was the Grundy Slams, but idk if the Shotgun is still in or is in his base movelist or what.

i think its his base moveset. In the other kombat kast he showcased that before showing off the other load outs

Oh. Well hot damn.
Okay, so we are still in there. It's just a name change.
This is great. I jumped too damn high out of my seat for my own good when I first saw it, and I was not at all expecting to be as hype for the Briggs family as I am.
