Still using misery stance and demon dash. Demon Dash is very good in whiff punishing and for longer range anti airing. It can get stuffed though so gotta have the timing right.

Been playing super lame with him. Like, they have to come to you. He can’t be zoned because of his teleport, and it’s not like they can build meter anyway in this game. So there’s no risk in playing keep away with Scorpion.

40%+ Scorpion combo. Counterhit D2 Krushing Blow starter, into f3,4 KB, cancel into spear amplify, b14 xx teleport amplify, 4 xx ender. Idk if you can get 4 into spear for the ender, but you can probably get 4 into demon dash.

Might be better after the aplified spear to go into his combo KB, which is 212 which does DOT damage.

D2 KB, F3, 4 KB, Spear AMP, 4, Tele AMP, 4, Demon Dash does 45%

Still trying to switch the Spear AMP for a Tele AMP as it probably does more but I can't seem to get the AMP for the first Tele. Doing two Tele instead of the 1 spear does more dmg in his usual combos I've found. I've got a nice BNB that's 4, Tele AMP, 4, Tele AMP, 4 Demon Dash. 12 hits, 35-36%, 355.66 to be precise. Can sub other starters for less dmg.

EDIT: Ok, managed it but the juggle gravity makes them fall too low I think for second 4 into Tele AMP. Maybe somebody who's better can land it. Trying with something lower like F+3 for the 2nd now.

2nd Edit: Nope lol... tele whiffs after F+3. Must be spear AMP for restand, lol. So 457.05 dmg. for the above combo.

So after MUCH experimentation using towers and the restart match button to get my 2 bars back I have found the following to be improved upon by those who are better at this game than I am lol.

Most damage variant: 4 (High unfortunately but great anti-air), Tele AMP, 4, Tele AMP, 4 Demon Dash. 12 hits, 35-36%, 355.66 dmg. to be precise.
B2 into Tele AMP... Mid (?), 12 Hits, 315.66 dmg.
B1... Mid(?), 12 Hits, 315.66 dmg.
B14... Mid (?) then Low, 13 Hits, 329.87 dmg.
F4... Low, 12 Hits, 315.66 dmg.
F42... Low then Overhead (?), 13 Hits, 329.87 dmg.
F3... Mid, 12 Hits, 335.66

Subbing either Tele AMP for Spear AMP does WAY less dmg. in all cases I've tried so far.

4, Tele AMP, 4, Spear AMP, 212 (KB) does 305.58 + Bleed and is most dmg I've seen for this KB without using OTHER KBs to boost, lol.

Highest Multi-KB DMG I've done: D2 KB, F34 KB, Spear AMP, 4, Tele AMP, 4, Demon Dash does 457.05 dmg.
Most KB in one Kombo ending in Bleed DoT: D2 KB, F34 KB, Spear AMP, 212 KB does 410.73 + Bleed.

Misery Blade stance canceling makes Scorpion good. Without them he’s not that great tbh.

I'm terrible at cancels. I mained Hellfire Scorpion with out any HF Cancels. Lol. Misery Blade is kinda cool but not my style and I can't seem to make it work like others. I have to play entirely off of mindgames/reads like I always have. High risk High reward Scorpion for me, lol.

MAD respect to those who get cancels/cancel pressure to work 'cause I am too mediocre for that. I can only use Misery Blade for added mixups, lol.

@Juggs, Fortunately, all of the Kombo options I posted above only require his base specials and Demon Dash which you use so let me know if they could be of use to you once you land a successful hit using Misery Blade mindfucks, lol.

I would definitely practice it. Nothing is gonna just be easy, you have to put the time in. Unfortunately Scorpion is either negative on literally everything or he has gaps. Misery Blade circumvents this issue by making you safe.

Can You explain, what that options does?
Release check, aka negative edge, makes it to where when you release a button, it acts as if you have pressed the button. This really only ever helps button mashers. But it’s defaulted to ON. Turning it off makes your inputs more precise and prevents you from getting unwanted inputs. It’s usually when you’re canceling normals or strings into specials. For instance if you d4 xx db1, with release check ON, instead of db1 you’re likely to get db4. With it off, it’s impossible to get db4 unless you press db4.

The input timing window helps in a similar way. It just helps you not get unwanted inputs when you’re pressing a lot of buttons in succession. Which helps a lot if you’re using Misery Blade with Scorpion and doing a lot of cancels.

I'm still trying to practice basics, I couldn't get out of corner pressure, timing the wake up moves was annoying... I really enjoyed Scorpion so far, and it was cool how I can whiff punish stuff with running flame thingy ... I didn't try misery blade stance pressure I will try all this today :D :D ...
 
Slow down bro lol. It’s too early to be talking character buffs/nerfs.

Honestly, Misery Blade + Demon Dash is all he needs. Misery Blade covers his lack of safe moves, more mixup potential, whiff punishing opportunities, etc.

Demon Dash makes him scarier outside of B2 range. Misery Blade makes B2 safe, which is his farthest reaching normal. On top of that, it covers anti-air. Those 2 moves force footsies. As a bonus, teleport eliminates the threat of projectiles.

He won’t be a noob friendly character by any means. He shines with whiff punishing, so footsies is a must.
I think scorpion needs some Buffs. No string is safe on block nothing. The safe strings has huge gaps in them. No special move is safe. The only safe move takes 2 spots and makes all the other useless. You have to spend 2 bars of meter to get like 25% damage
No doubt lol. Asking for buffs on day -30 lol. Should try jade, see what you think, and dont take that for a complaint, i like the direction they took her.

Welcome to Scorpion, lol. He's always been this way since MK1. High risk high reward. Easy to pick up and play but requires either EXPERT level psych warfare and reads AND/OR (in the last two games) high level execution to perform Cancels to actually be GOOD with Scorpion. I have the first but not the second so I can do great against players below or roughly equal to my skill level but higher skilled people will see through my BS and blow my shit up and I don't have the skills for Cancels to try and compensate. How risky he is is why you RARELY see a pro take Scorpion seriously and most consider him a scrubby casuals only free win. Note the lack of people on TYM getting excited about finding Scorpion tech, lol.

There is no reward tho. It's not like he has a great vortex or high damage.

Yeah if you have two bars and Demon Dash special you can get 31+% off any successful hit but with one bar the best I've gotten is like 27-28% I think. This is without krushing blows mind you. He could use EITHER a small damage buff all around to make his risky attacks more "rewarding" OR make his basic Spear recapture again (switch the amped for non-amped but make sword slash do more dmg with hard knockdown) so doing 20+% dmg off a good read occurs more frequently like it does for most of the other characters in Beta. As is without meter and no krushing blow I usually get like 15-17% dmg off a hit confirm.

Edit: Aside from Misery Blade IF you have the skills and execution to use it right, Demon Dash HAS to be his best new move, lol. So much utility and damage as combo ender. Demon Breath is cool too especially because you get the klassic Toasty back as a Brutality (which for me is damn near mandatory, lo)! I wish his special combos ability didn't require the Chain Spin and Chain Spin should NOT be a two slot move, lol. That way the chain variation could also get the Spear Buff move it needs to be good. It's okay but not a game winner. Sin Blade NJP should be removed and replaced with something new and better. NJP is unnecessary, not worth a precious move slot, and only one character having it is dumb. Fireball needs to hit if it comes in contact with opponent or ground and not just ground, lol. Weird mechanic but not a deal breaker.

I love his klassic Air Throw but has ANYONE figured out how to combo into it because that would be swaggy as hell, lol.

I've been maining scorpion and using his death spin + spear buff moves, and wow death spin is a terrible move, it serves almost no purpose aside from anti air, and maybe chipping out with the spear buff with it.
