IT'SSSSSSS TIMEEEE (don't sue me UFC). The Injustice Pro Series finale, bringing together the 16 best Injustice 2 players for a tournament style throw-down with the winner taking home the lion's share of a $100,000 prize pool. I know it's a Tuesday and I know a lot of you might be at work. But TYM is here with all those sweet details.

The Top 16 took place 9AM EST, running through the whole day. After hours of some hype matches, our Top 8 settled down into this crew:

Winner's
Simplicity Tweedy vs. Noble Rewind
Echo Fox Sonic Fox vs. PG Hayatei

Loser's
DF Grr vs. Scar
Noble Semiij vs. Method SylverRye

For the play-by-play and final results, click that spoiler down below. For the love of god, do not go on Twitter/Facebook if you are trying to watch things fresh. Just a friendly reminder for you good people at home! Congratulations to everyone who played today and the commentary crew who helped to keep things exciting throughout!

Starting off our Top 8 was Tweedy's Starfire playing his old teammate, Rewind and his Catwoman. Tweedy took a close game 1, and Rewind hit right back with a solid game 2 win. Game 3 went to Tweedy, the victory coming in after an impressive magic pixel run to eliminate the bulk of Rewind's second healthbar. Rewind took game 4, but not without coming close to losing the whole set after a critical mistake that allowed Tweedy to clash and close in the health gap. Game 5 went straight down to the wire again, and Rewind was able to finish things off 3-2, advancing to winner's and guaranteeing himself $10,000.

Next up was Hayatei's Robin against Sonic Fox's OG main from day 1, Captain Cold. Looking like he did pre-patch, Sonic won game 1. Hayatei was able to get a point on the board with game 2, smart usage of Robin's trait allowing him to get around Cold's frost orbs. Game 3 came down to the final hit, Sonic clutched it out last minute with a quick interactable. Hayatei was able to secure game 4, despite Sonic getting ready to make a set winning comeback after being down a healthbar for most of the match. Our second game 5 was also down to the final health bar, with Sonic Fox taking the win, going 3-2 over Hayatei and also guaranteeing at least $10,000.

Our next match, now in loser's, was Grr's Atom against Scar's Brainiac. With a decisive showing, Scar took the first game, his month long training session with Red Dead Redemption 2 paying off. Grr took game 2, landing a super that allowed him to finally slowdown Scar's divekick pressure. Scar hit right back for game 3, putting himself at match point and Grr in a tough situation. Game 4 was a relatively decisive win for Grr, bringing us, once again, to a game 5. The final game ended up going to Scar, who took the set 3-2 and advanced forward.

Following that was Semiij playing Sylverrye, the undisputed best Catwoman playing the undisputed best Hellboy. Semiij had a strong showing to start, taking both games 1 and 2 without breaking a sweat. Fortunately for Sylverrye, Semiij.exe froze up for game 3 and he was able take a win. Unfortunately for Sylverrye, Semiij.exe kicked back in for game 4, and Semiij took the set 3-1.

For our first match in the next portion of the bracket, Tweedy was up against Scar. Tweedy kept things going with his Starfire, while Scar broke out his Supergirl. Tweedy went up game 1, Scar went up game 2. With that momentum carrying him forward, Scar took a pretty decisive win for game 3. Tweedy was not going to go down without a fight, he took the next win in game 4. In an insanely good showing that came down to a read off of a MB Super Breath, Scar took the final win and the set 3-2.

Next up was Semiij's Catwoman vs. Hayatei's Robin. Once again, we had a back and forth set with Semiij taking game 1 and Hayatei taking game 2. Hayatei won out a relatively slow game 3, putting Semiij up against the ropes facing possibly the second big upset of the night. But Semiij decided he wanted another game 5 for the night, so he tied up the set 2-2. Final game score, Semiij closed it out 3-2 and sent Hayatei home.

Due to unforeseen circumstances (me needing to be somewhere at 9 EST and I didn't feel like waiting until 11 for everything to wrap up) don't have the play-by-play for the Top 4. You can catch the VOD here at around 10:50:00. The scores throughout were:

Sonic 3-0 over Rewind to make Grand Finals.
Scar 3-2 over Semiij to make loser's finals.
Rewind 3-1 over Scar to make Grand Finals.
Sonic Fox defeats Rewind 3-1 in Grand Finals and holds the title of IPS champion.

No announcements for all 3 of you who had hopes that something was coming. We'll keep on keeping on until NRS announces anything. In the meantime, congratulations to Sonic Fox for retaining his title!

Crazy that Tweedy didn’t make top 4. Him and Grr lost in heartbreaking fashion.

Glad I was actually able to watch most of this.

Also, @16 Bit commentating and looking great with his weight loss, literally didn’t even recognize him. For those who didn’t see, I snapped a pic: https://twitter.com/juggleypuff/status/1062456851676176384?s=21

Idk about the pink hair tho, lol. Actually with his shirt, he could pull off the Joker look if he dyed it green instead.

Terrible times breed terrible things, my lord.
Didn't follow much of ips2 this time around but I just got home for work and I wanted to relax and enjoy a Tuesday evening.

Then I see Scar getting me all hype for injustice again with that amazing game play.

Scar v Sonic Grand finals would be pretty cool to watch.

Didn't know I2 still had a lot of life left.

It’s time to start talking about how shitty nrs is with its game support and community. Ips finals had half the viewers of the last chance qualifier and nrs did not to hype it up. They have been silent since months prior to evo. So sad. No current fg can succeed without dev support and injustass didn’t have it. Sad state of affairs.

The viewership was definitely split as it was also aired live on TV on DisneyXD.

Your constant negativity is what is sad. Your unbridled pessimism and overall bleak commentary is depressing and annoying. I know you’re going to say “truth hurts” or some other douchebag comment, but the real truth is that you’re extremely toxic and you’re not helping anything by being that way.

I speak facts and sorry if u don’t like it. Nrs sucks so bad this last year and if u disagree with that u are delusional. They are obsolete after that finale. No hype.

Yeah I agree. I didn't even know who was in ips2 this time around and didn't even know Sonic was in since dbfz is his main game.

You would think with all these different fighters out now and heavy competition and different leagues nrs would be doing all they possibly can to promote it. Besides Mr Aquaman and quite a few others with their inventationals but to someone else who doesn't really have the time to really follow the scene like myself for example, they should be going guys like me to keep me interested.

Just like them breaking the 2 year cycle of releasing new games they should put more support and development in this game for those who still want to compete and play.

Because a few days from now many who watched tonight on a Tuesday evening and probably won't be playing it past Friday won't care.

Sad to say but that's not how games like sfv, cod, ow and many others don't loose as many viewers each pro league tournament that they have.

It was still a great finals though.

Great tournament. I wish more top talent would play the game and give it a chance, I feel like there's a ton of great characters we don't even get a chance to see who would be great at a high level.

I think it's a two-way street. Communities need to have some degree of self-relience and responsibility.
