I noticed this change. Played with a very good player and saw the difference there. Offline is cool, not at the PC level though.
To be honest i dont think so. I dont think the game needs them. I think having kuma and panda as 2 spots is dumb but its what we have. Apart from that i think the roster is all good(minus noctis that shit is retarded)

If you want to play the game seriously or casually, play it. I am sure that there are players of all levels still playing.
There are, but its waaaaay less than before. This game takes ALOOOONG time to master like years. Does the casual gamer nowadays have time to get the core mechanics down? I highly doubt it. I mean, I've played Tekken since the beginning and i have yet to master that shit. Content keeps casuals, which keeps the scene competitive online, which keeps life into the game. Without new content such as characters, ppl will move on to the next. So even though people don't play those characters, they're still very needed.
The amount of players you face will depend on your rank, most people just play to late blue, early green ranks and a lot of players are not even in the dan ranks. (On my other account I am still at beginner rank and get matches way more than my main account which is between 30secs and 1 min)
It also depends on the type of content that is provided. Characters are ok for the short term, people are still going to be in the same position in whether they keep playing the game or not. It does not help that the game did not provide any sort of tutorial for the main mechanics of the game which in my opinion would keep the playerbase longer as they would at least know what opponents or they themselves are doing.
The difference is when I played earlier to now, is that NOW i still have a bit of a longer time to find opponents than i did before where it was instant.

I agree that there should have been a tutorial since the current generation of FGs implement that in their games for the casual audience, but what does that fall under ?Question mark? CONTENT! It doesn't matter if the content lasts a certain amount of time, just give the game more shit to do. Characters make ppl want to play the game more to learn the matchup even if they don't main the character. It's always good to lab what moves the characters can do. T7 is bare as fuck. Point Blank Period. You can be content with it, and thats fine. But from an OG player who played since the beginning, I'll be DAMNED if im going to pay more money for a T7 than any other game, and get less content than any other Tekken game. That's the point I'm trying to make. SO Whoop there it is!

As far as playing....ummmm...Im on and off on this game, so wouldn't say necessarily say "love" playing...probably more like playing..... when DBFZ gets boring and currently, im trying out the DLC of that game still. But if im down and see you online, i shall hit you up sir
Remember the game has been out since 2015. There have been alot of characters and updates since then. Console release is usually the final product. The online has been good for me since the input delay fix the first time.
Is there a preferred platform at this point? I know the PC version was initially considered superior, but I've heard of CP causing stuttering (which I'm not personally noticing), and that the PS4 version is much improved.
I have the PS4 version and it is much improved. I think you are better off asking @Tanno and @Smoke_Of_Finland because they have both PS4 and PC versions.
Even though they have improved the PS4 version, this patch isn't at the PC level. Better play the PC version. The stuttering is most likely from the PC options that are messing it. Better work this out to fix it.
Tbh, we used to play mk9 and sf4 which input lag used to be similar, ps4 lowering to 4.5.
The stuttering you refer to may be caused by people turning off V-sync to further reduce input lag on PC and the "correct" term for it would be screen tearing. PC version looks better and loading times are way shorter, even with an old i3 CPU and 1050 TI GPU (my rig is new, but budget/low end tier) I had to drop my settings from maxed to near max because jungle stage combined with Kuma's fur caused the game to drop from steady 60fps to 50 lol.
