any DBFZ fans playing Blazblue Cross Tag beta right now?
Game looks hella fun, if you enjoy anime 2D fighters
netcode seems pretty decent
TL; DR - I'll almost certainly try the game out, but if it turns out as crazy and over-the-top offensively as the beta made it look, Ill probably enjoy watching it @ tourney rather than playing it.


I'm going to probably check it out, because I am unable to not buy, and at least try, all new 'major' FGs that release.. but from what I have seen of the beta I don't think it will be a game for me all said and done.

Of course it's early and it's just a beta, but the game AS ITS UNDERSTOOD RIGHT NOW looks to be a little too insane for me to enjoy playing. The overriding theme I kept seeing from people who had gotten extended time with it was basically 'if you think it'll work, it probably will', and that's awesome in many respects, but a lot of what I was seeing coming out were very high damage combos into legit 4 way 'hard-to-blockable' into the same situation... With rounds ending in the blink of an eye. Couple that with the scramble-into-hitconfirm neutral with HUGE moves and normals that cover enormo sections of the screen.. and you have a game I will absolutely enjoy watching, but never want to personally play.

There's nothing wrong with that style of game at all, hell DBFz is very much along those lines itself, but BBCT looks like it pushes those aspects even further than dbfz does. From a personal standpoint I prefer games with a more measured pace, longer rounds and with less of an over-all scrambly feel.

Obv these opinions, observations and impressions are based entirely on what we know/have seen of the BETA. So the game, our understanding of it, the meta that will dominate and everything else in between is subject to change drastically with time.

Shrug. His air normals will be OHs like always and with his advancing low's startup looking a LOT like an IAD is about to happen, he's not gonna have any extra trouble mixing people up with L/OH.. that advancing low is going to be DIRTY AS HELL.

my initial reaction would be.....so what?

Vegeta's divekick isn't an OH either but Go1 and Dogura were wrecking people with it just the same. Obviously we gotta test run him first.

Shrug. His air normals will be OHs like always and with his advancing low's startup looking a LOT like an IAD is about to happen, he's not gonna have any extra trouble mixing people up with L/OH.. that advancing low is going to be DIRTY AS HELL.
I dont think he actually has an overhead. That Nash attack he was doing was actually blocked low. Unless in his auto L has an overhead mix.

Vegito looks like everything I'd hoped he'd be mm mmm mmmmm

That 2M oh lord, and that assist is looking nice too mmmm - he jumps up high so buttons can't reach him and it looks like they're in a juggle state for a decent amount of time compared to say Trunks' assist

That 1-hit DHC is gonna give him some noice synergy with my Gotenks oh lordy lord

I dont think he actually has an overhead. That Nash attack he was doing was actually blocked low. Unless in his auto L has an overhead mix.
Any jumping attack he does will be an OH. I know the Nash face slam (the 3rd hit of his LLL auto combo I believe) isn't an OH but iad into L,M or H will be an OH like everyone else's I certainly assume (with occasional exceptions like Kid's j.m). So what I mean is even if he doesn't have a grounded OH special/normal, since his advancing low on startup looks A LOT like the beginning of an IAD that can lead to an OH or empty low, or who knows what other options.. it's doubtful he's going to 'suffer' from not having access to a grounded OH move, because he can still enforce an OH/Low mix out of blockstring pressure. Presumably anyway.. but based on the footage we've seen, I'm pretty confident that it's going to be dangerous.

He'll also probably have the universal OH everyone does.

NOOOOOO I mean another move he does that actually looks like a command attack that looks almost exactly like Nash's attack. He literally does a hop overhead punch, but its not a true overhead. I know everybody has the same tool kit and far as jump attacks are overheads, etc etc. DUH!

I'm talking about him having "extra" attacks that are OH to mix up opponents, but he doesn't seem to have any besides the basics. But we shall see ;)
