Arcsys have actually done a lot more nerfing/adjusting in the general - in GG at least - over the last two-ish years. There was some article/interview I read a while back that said the company wasn't against patching as a general rule, but they served a more niche audience and had a huge focus on arcade stuff as well, and as a result, rolling out patches and such was very difficult and very costly. Making it impractical.

DBFz definitely isn't niche and the money it's making and ease with which patches can roll out now (distribution platforms are reducing or negating patch fees), and - I would assume - a desire to keep the enormous DBFz audience happy all point to the POSSIBILITY of more frequent patching. If done right, they have everything to gain, and very little to lose. IF DONE RIGHT.

But I dont ever see them knee-jerk patching.

All that said, the only two characters in the game that imo need anything adjusted down, are 16 and Cell. I could see Black getting touched possibly.. and I worry that Hit might develop into something that needs a tap on the head.. but I'd much rather see some of the lesser used characters made stronger. With 16 and Cell if like anything done to be decently light touch.. but they are a clear step up on even the other characters that feel like a clear step up on the rest of the roster. I don't think they are broken by any means, I just think they over step the power threshold the game should probably aim for. But then again, if everyone could be brought up (or found to already be) at minimum the area characters like 21 and trunks occupy, then fuck it, leave em alone.

I've played 16 quite a lot.. but stopped simply because I thought I was winning, but wasn't getting any better at the game, this early in a games life I want to focus on improving at the core systems and such, so I replaced him. Of course, that said, I'm still a scumbag and play Hit, Black and Teen Gohan.

Who is a "weaker" character here? Nappa, ginyu, and maijin buu are the ones i see the least. What would be a change to make with 16 and cell? 16's 5H having armor is probably too much. That would be something to look at imo. Maybe make 5H punishable?

Is Goku Blue's command grab actually garbage? It can only tick off a very close L unless I'm missing something and doesn't seem to lead to much.

I mean.. maybe 16 shouldnt get to use the vanish into hkd setups from such high damage combos? Maybe increase the scaling on hitstun from certain moves so he cant do like 5k one bars into midscreen hkd setups? Meter gain reduction so that he cant loop through hkd resets infinitely?

What would be a good change to him without totally busting him?

I probably shouldn't have used the term "weaker".. it's all relative, and I don't think anyone is weak in the low tier, can't win sense but there are certain characters that just don't seem like they do anything well enough or different enough to bring into a match over other characters, or there "gimmick" doesn't work as well as it probably should.

Take Ginyu as an example. He's got a ton of cool stuff but it's very difficult to use effectively and reliably and if you're looking for assist style coverage for pressure and setups and such 18 just does it better. Ginyu absolutely still has his own stuff, and he's infinity cooler than 18 (and I think 18 is awesome) but if you're focused on reliably kicking ass, he's not a good choice compared to some others.

Krillin actually fits in an 18-esque roll as well, using his projectiles and rocks and such he has strong neutral coverage without external assists and he can do a lot on KD to pressure and set you up, but 18 does too and packs a stronger kit, by and large.

There's nothing wrong with just playing a character because you like them or enjoy how they play (I can draw parallels between Kid Buu and TGohan, but I chose TG and he's not considered as strong as Kid at all) but its just kind of disappointing when you can look at characters that have this awesome gimmick or a specific playstyle that just doesn't work right or is overshadowed by another character who just does it better.

As 16's light touch, honestly, I'll admit to being too scrubby to really know what would work, and still keep him mega strong, because I'm totally fine with him being the best character in the game, I'd just like the margin to be more narrow. The armor you mentioned is absolutely a good start. Possibly look at the frame data on his 214 and 236.S a little bit. Maybe. And I kinda feel like his projectile is a little too good for him. It's not godlike or anything it's just surprisingly powerful attached to a character that can do what he can do. Maybe slower startup? I've sniped the SHIT out of people with that.. just a thought. I don't think all that needs done, just some small suggestions.

I like his armor and would like to see it survive though if possible because it just changes how neutral and pressure and such work against him and Im always a fan of characters that force you to play a little differently.. maybe something simple like increased scaling after a dunk, or a change so that his 236.L grab DOESNT have it's HKD if a dunk was used previously in the combo...or something? I dunno. Just thinking of how he can take 40% + with redonkulous corner carry into a setup you can't do anything about. I don't want it removed or anything, just maybe adjusted so if you want that true HKD and all it allows you, you have to sacrifice damage in the combo to get it. Would tying the HKD to meter be too much? Have the grab work as normal, but during the animation you can hit H or something and when he slams them down it plays a larger particle effect or something to indicate the extra power used to plant you like a fence post.

I'm thinking out loud here, so don't crucify me. I ABSOLUTELY want to see him remain top tier. I LOVE seeing a big body grappler at the top 'cause that is not usually the case.

Also theres zero characters in this game that dont have ridiculous bullshit. And it makes me laugh when people bitch about 16 and then use goku black, adult gohan, kid buu, the blues, android 18, 21, cell, teen gohan, gotenks, yamcha, or trunks
A.Gohan? Sure. Now waiting explanation on a "ridiculous shit" from Teen Gohan (lol), Kid Buu (lol), The Blues (lmfao), Gotenks (usrs?), Trunks (?) and Yamcha.

Explain how these compare to ridiculiously long reaching normals, braindead-meter-free-armor, enormous damage, meterless resets into 50/50 (without even needing assists) after every combo that makes u guess whether he will insta cross you for an overhead/low or stay on the same side and go for a low/throw or stagger into whatever. Shit thats not even under free "50/50" category anymore lol.

Etc. I can go on but for start - lets settle atleast with this bs.

Oh and its not like A16 is considered broke by pretty much every pro in the game, or is being placed as top tier in the game. No no.

No one is getting nerfed. Welcome to arcsys games.
Several characters were already nerfed between betas. 18 and Piccolo were nerfed, and Vegeta’s assist was nerfed (used to be even better if you can believe it).

I think it’s entirely possible there will be nerfs. And those characters that were nerfed weren’t nearly as good as 16 or Cell. I don’t necessarily want any nerfs but based on the changes they have already made, not sure why you think “no one is getting nerfed”.

I don't play 16 to his full potential and recognize he needs adjustments. I'm sure that they'll make some changes.
As A16 player what would u suggest? I think they should touch on this meterless resets after combos that you can basically get anywhere on the level, be it corner or not. It just gives him another 50/50 (or should I say 20/20/20/20/20 lol) since he can insta cross u for an overhead/low, stay same side and go for low/throw or staggering into more pressure etc.

Another thing - as a grapler he can get-in wayyyy to easy in neutral. Rocket-fist imo should be slowed down in terms of startup/recovery, or atleast make the projectile itself fly slower. He doesnt need to have everyrhing and he would still be solid asf.

What do you mean? During the matches you see the frame delay at the top-middle part of the UI. Its literally called "Delay".
Anything past 3f of delay is really not good to say atleast and last time with you it was between 7-11f of delay. You must be on Wifi

I gave in and picked Vegeta for his assist. It is completely amazing how much of difference he makes any team and now I'm probably not going to replace him ever. He makes the game sssoo much more fun for me.
Vegeta was on my team on day 2... He sure loves teams... He so shy about this. I can do this alone... Ppffft. Yeah right Vegeta!.

Anything past 3f of delay is really not good to say atleast and last time with you it was between 7-11f of delay. You must be on Wifi
I'm NOT a Wi-Fi warrior here. I have my PS4 connected with the router via a 10m ethernet cord. Either my router is getting the dust here, or something else is going on that I'm unaware of.
