Hit's 236S AND 5S can punish any projectile power. You want Hit's 236S into L to switch sides, when you're cornered. Don't know about Kid Buu's, as I have roughly some troubles against him.
No I’m talking as a blockstring ender. Hit can do either super or straight up 5M for a combo, Kid Buu and 21 can do their 2M nonsense, Yamcha can H Wolf fang.
Everyone else needs to either spend bar for a super or reflect before having a chance of punishing.

Wait till I get used to Hit's gameplay more and it's punish time for you, bro. I already found one of Kid Buu's weaknesses. It's a matter of time till I find the others. :p
Wait till u see that Kid Buu again. U'll be even more surprised than the last time.

It's Friday and due to high winds most of the region has lost power. So I'm off work...but can't grind ;_;

Frieza / Goku / x

help me pick a third, want an assist that works in the neutral (basically not Kid Buu / Yamcha), nothing else is important. Don't really want to play 16. Nor Vegeta.

Things I'm considering:

Piccolo assist is fun, strong, and he makes a good anchor. He's kinda weird to play though and will take some getting used to.

Trunks has some sick shit, has a perfect assist, might be the kind of character who you don't want third though?

Gohan either one, prefer Teen Gohan. This assist is real nice and big damage enders are fun. Not sure how good anchor Teen Gohan is either though? That neutral may be tricky with no assist. He's hype but.

Krillin similar reasons to Teen Gohan, and playing a real keepaway Frieza + Beam + Sensus could be a lot of fun, and he has big damage super and the best chip damage super in the game which is aces for my playstyle.

I'm leaning towards Krillin honestly.

thoughts?
Personally, I'd go Krillin or A. Gohan. Teen if you want maximum hype but I wouldn't put him anywhere but point tbh. Especially with neutral heavy assists on board like Goku and Frieza. He could probably work in mid, but your point will be limited pressure wise because of his assist. Decent get-off-me assist though so that's why I say mid could work.

I just wouldn't want risk him on anchor as I feel like it's an uphill climb if you're left with only him, but that's just my preference. I'm sure there are people out there are making him work on anchor, but just the sheer possibility (and probability) of him being last man standing vs neutral heavy top tiers is what would deter me.

Trunks would be a great addition as well. Mixups, mobility, pressure, damage, he's got it covered. Haven't had much experience with Piccolo though so maybe someone else can offer some insight on his behalf.

Due of rain here, I'm off DBFZ. When the rain comes, the connection is dancing around my rectum. Once the weather clears up, I'll be up for any challenges.

Had fun with my buddy's place playing DBFZ. I found out that I can play this game out of my mind like a true warrior. Lesson learned.

Work got me stressing like a bitch on a bitch boat right now. BUT I will say this...NOW that i know how to get Ring Matches working would love to get a TYM thing going possibly later tonight. After playing @axcelerate last night, that mode gave me another reason on why I love this game. You can train with awesome friends you meet, and man o man you learn SO MUCH MORE and faster than playing with randoms in ranked match.

Here's a question i have tho. Ive heard that if you set the setting to "Friendly match" your win/loss ratio will not count against your square color. Has anybody heard anything of that sort ?Question mark?

I've heard it's supposed to work that way, but can't confirm if it does or not... But that's what it's supposed to do.

Still slowly working on this team, but this is the most focused and comfortable team I've played so far. I feel like it's more than just "I like these three characters" and my team-wide game plan and synergy is more than an assist extending a single combo. I have an over-arching strategy and a gameplan. Team feels solid.

Starting to get a real clear idea on my weaknesses too and some focus to training mode time.

TGohan is like a magnifying glass for flaws as a player.. when you're weak in something and you play him he highlights it effectively. Ultimately I think that's why he beat Kid Buu out for the spot. Kid let's you play sloppy and ham-fisted and get away with a lot, even benefit from it.. but TG has to be played pretty clean. So all in all I think TG will make me a better player in the long run.

My neutral/pressure assist use is absolute garbage.. just garbage. I blow that shit too early trying to get in, like a virgin on his wedding night. Rushing things, not taking my time. Once in i fumble my timing or lose track of my assist calls and call the wrong one, or not realize one is on timer and blah blah. When I am getting my pressure decently right, I tend to be so happy about the fact that I stop mixing things up and become predictable, which leads to getting poo'd on.

I drop combos constantly.. but that's part of my hands and shit, it takes me hundreds of games to get in-match combos down even when I can do them 50/50 in training mode, so Im not worried about it, it's just something I have to deal with and it gets better naturally over time (though it's super super super frustrating to drop ultra basic stuff 30% of the time).. So my training mode focus right now needs to be based around getting my blockstrings and pressure sequences down with assists to cover me or extend pressure or set up mix opportunities, and get the timings of them down, as well as work on proper IAD after assist calls.. Im slow on these, and TG is extra tricky in this regard IMO due to his tiny normals and weird timings though Ive found a kind of mix he gets here*. My in-match focus right now needs to be on maintaining solid but ACTIVE defense (reflect, AA SDs, etc), movement and using my assists to help me get pressure started in neutral - which feeds back in to my training mode focus. And round it goes.

* - It's odd, and its certainly not 'real' in that sense, but after an IAD with TG, you usually go with j.H, his is slow and has kind of weird timing. Better players seem to be able to react to it coming out slowly, meaning if I set the timing up to try and cross-up from semi close, its fairly reactable, both to block or to challenge.. but if they get comfortable with that timing and stopping that normal, I can use his ridiculously fast j.L as I pass over them. It seems to have a small hitbox behind it, acting as a more traditional crossup normal, not requiring him to turn around first. It's been surprisingly useful, though hard for me to time correctly right now because it has to be done so fast. When used right though the normal itself creates a very ambiguous L/R mix after an IAD, and a timing mix when thrown in with j.H.

@Juggs At least my internet isn't jumping around my rectum.

All these xenoverse buns need to GTFO fighter Z, or at least learn the game. Everyone rage quits and no runbacks. The top 100 is all scrubs( at least 80%). This game is only enjoyable offline with real talent.

Gonna consolidate some stuff into a Teen Gohan thread in a day or two.. For now though, Ima just ramble here.

Ive got his basic corner BnB down off a normal starter of any kind, though I need to find and optimize off a raw kick special into wall bounce.

Right now though, working on his bomb loops. They aint easy. The first loop actually *IS* easy though, or seems so. I was struggling like hell to pull it off, but I figured out a 'trick' to setting it up that's really consistent. This may be covered somewhere but I haven't found any how-tos on it myself, just watched it done and started reverse engineering it.. So if this is common knowledge, my bad..

As far as I know they only work off of grounded JCs, so you'll have to hit them with a 2MM somewhere. If you launch with heavy it doesn't work. LL 2M M works, etc. You will also have to do j.LL after the grounded launch. The autocombo forces the opponent higher in the combo and aligns them better. Its probably possible with LM but it would be extremely specific and needlessly difficult.

Now, the j.LL-S-2S is very tricky.. You have to do the j.LL and hesitate this tiny, very specific, amount of time so they get hit by the LL then drop down just the tiniest bit.. too early and your S goes under and misses.. too late and they recover out of the combo. It was giving me a ton of trouble and was really inconsistent, and worse when I changed the frame delay around some the timing seemed to alter very slightly. Not good.. Well, I solved the timing issue and found a totally consistent way to get the first part of the loop going. I went from 2-3/10 to 8-9-10 immediately. Turns out, when you 2M, even after some other opener like a 2L or the like, when you 2M you can heavily delay the followup M into your JC. You have a bunch of time, and it even adds a very small element of extra corner carry. Useful for time to confirm off the 2M as well, and just kind of get your mind right and ready to go. The timing here is very generous, and its very easy. So, anyone struggling with that first part of the combo, if you arent already, try heavily delaying the M after the 2M. Works like a charm and turns the starter into an incredibly easy beginning.

Just now got the first part of the loop down.. haven't landed the second part yet - but even just going into the first part of the loop, SDing and doing a normal air sequence is solid meterless damage (3800 for super simple autocombo mashing) with pretty impressive corner carry, and room to heavily optimize, and add more carry/damage.

quick edit: End the second part of the combo, after the first SD in a 236.M for really good corner carry.

More in the morning when Im off work hopefully, and I might start up a TG combo thread or something.

So how do you guys feel about fighting Cell?
I generally feel pretty sore. Dude is a monster. No weakness and can handle and contest you anywhere, infini-pressure, huge damage. Cool ass voice "Helllooooo". Only upside is he's a big body.. and that only matters if you know/have specific big body combos on deck, or in yhe case of TG, it makes my loops easier - though I'm not at the point I'm pulling them out in-game reliably.

Sigh. I was all proud of myself and thinking "damn John, you got those TG loops pretty easy and people say they're hard. Must be because you're a fine specimen of a hooman being"

But no. It's cause I was doing a poverty version. I found a stronger one, considerably so, that's also still universal, but unlike mine, can be meaningfully extended for a bar. To extend my poverty loop it'll cost two bars and I still do less than the bigboy version. Oh and mine loses the corner on extension, Papa loop does not. Papa loop also has the option I THINK to throw more meter at for even more damage. But 5400 solo for a bar is pretty decent.

My buddy I play with has just a disgusting cell very tough match up if he has both assists up and you lose neutral and get touched by him. I have no problem blocking his generic strings into assists but when he starts IAD OH and staggering strings in the middle of assists and knowing your just gonna be put back in the blender makes it very tough. His light auto combo catching backdashes on blocked vanish makes me salty.
