Everyone is just going for the more familiar "Plasma beam" assist teams, Goku and Goku Black, or Vegeta if they want more freedom to go nuts as it's a multi-task assist.
the fact that Vegeta is actually a good character and pretty simplistic overall is simply a plus as the best assists will get picked even if the character is trash (see any MvC game or Skullgirls)

While everyone is getting into the game lots of people don't have much "anime game" experience that's why we're seeing lots of the Saiyans all over, they purposely made them straight forward and have good tools all around so players can have a couple of characters to start off with.
Plus there is the obvious fact that they're fan favorites and 90% of people picking this up are doing it to play Goku/Vegeta/Gohan and shoot Kamehamehas and beams all over.

Give it a few weeks and you'll start seeing a lot more variation, but even now considering how there's no character that's just outted as worse than everyone we're seeing almost the whole cast in NLBG and other tourneys.
Japanese players throwing out tier lists and comments with things like #16 being the second best character in the game will only add incentive to explore the whole cast.

They did good on the balancing on the game, it's fun, it's fast, it's amazing all over.. now if they just fix the fuckin online.......

Very true. I'm really digging Piccolo, Tien, Nappa, Majin Buu and 18 alot. These guys have so much to offer. It's unreal how well thought out and built these characters are. Hit for example is just an absolute force to reckon with. I've been labbing him all week and he's just so good to use and it's satisfying to lab him and pick him apart.

I could see why Sonic like this dude.

Feels like lights into mediums into overhead into assist is super common for pressure- but having only tested out 3 different characters with the overhead, it looks like it's easily interruptible with a light into a jump cancel for a combo punish every time?

Im reminding myself that this happens with every new fighting game, but after 3 rage quits in a row and im still dark green because no one will stay in a game they are about to lose....

Its so frustrating.

Someone suggested it to me on twitter to do casual matches. Your square rating still will go up/down in casuals. But people rage quit way less often in casuals. So far, I’ve had a better experience since playing casual matches.

Unfortunately, I exclusively play casual and I just had my 4th RQ in a row

Bandai honestly needs to punish rage quitters, there’s not much to discourage it right now. We all knew it was going to be more rampant in this game, but there not being really any penalty just makes for an even worse onljne experience.

good morning guise,
https://testyourmight.com/threads/dbfz-official-matchmaking-psn-xbl-pc.66376/page-2

i dont want to sound like captain obvious here but the purpose of that thread is to find players to play with, lol.
the more players sign up there, the better so you guise dont need to play randoms!
unfortunately if u play randoms or ranked tho, then u just have to deal with ragequitting and all that stuff :/

ok, i finally found my team: cell, hit, a16
my first dbfz tournament is in 3 weeks, grindtime bois!

It's all so very confusing.
He's too slow. Playing him as zoning works but that's not really my thing, plus it doesnt work all that great in this game with SD blowing up everything on reaction.

Kid buu's mediums are NOT punishable. Its minus but not punishable. If he cancels with anything or uses any assist, you lose. If he doesnt, you arent punishing, you're making him block. You are forced to risk that or just hold it or reflect from half a screen away. He's so small that his sd pushes him outside of any range on block, so its not plus but it may as well be. You cant dash over his mediums from any range because it eill just advance him forward and you cant hit him anyway.

Hes just as bad as people say. Only thing that makes goku black better is that he gets to do exactly this with lights.

Then we had some kind of lagg issue, because I sat down probably two hours practicing with my training partner and he could block either medium and punish me with lights. We ran into it in a match so stopped and started using regular matches like an online training mode.. he could 100% punish me every time with lights.

I thought that seemed weird, I hadn't heard it before. I mean we tested this in different scenarios probably 40 times

I jump tested it. It seemed to be around -2. I tested doing it and then immediately blocking. Lights were blocked every single time. Maybe there's gaps.

@Juggs yep, the game is sort of deep and there's a bunch of tech coming out, but one of the things i noticed about that is all of the cool mechanics don't matter all that much because in a lot of cases (too many in my opinion), super dashing or mashing is just straight up better.

Like... "im gonna use this assist and cover my iad forward and then try a mixup or block string, then call an assist to link a 6M or try to iad back and wiff punish a counter."

"Oh thats neat. I picked goku black and mashed light. I win"

I'll retest asap. We were online, so maybe lagg was a larger factor than I realized. Delay was 3~ frames if I remember right.

Weird.

Super glad that's the case though because my medium normals being punishable on block felt super shitty lol

Ring matches count too. I jumped from yellow (had just gotten yellow) to orange in matter of 30 matches or so when I was actually able to play a clan mate using ring matches.

But y'know....that's assuming the game's servers like you on the day you decide to try.

I have done a overnight breakthrough on Beerus. Working on avoiding his weaknesses in the pressure game. Doing the same for Hit and Piccolo.

Wait really? I wasn’t aware ring matches also counted. I’m guessing that means arena matches also count.

Hi. I have 3 or 4 questions.
1) The game still counts rquitted or crashed (Yeah, the game just decide to boot us both from the lobby as I think you are aware) as played matches?
2) Any tips for dealing with homing dashes when you are JUMPING? Not on the ground, I am good on the ground. I find irritating that you can't seem to be able to play any kind of mid range air game without being dashed.
3) Mids are positive, neutral or what?
4)Any notable Frieza player I can look up? My other guys, Black and vegeta are pretty straightforward. Frieza seems a bit different.
In the and they were 4. Thanks everyone.

Ah, for the color any match count. In aksys game the only thing you need to get a color is to make 10 straight wins on people of the same rank. If you play people of different rank it will not move.

ABACABB

End Of Humanity
But if these are my first matches so im lowest color and lets say I lose all matches I cant get worse so it will not change anything :p

It's not network ranking, it's just a sticker who identifies the level of an opponent in an unranked environment. It's incredibly easy to boost.

They developed it to counter the fact that in some countries playing an aksys game ranked is near impossible and the action stayed in lobbies. Newbs got slaughtered and demanded a way to signal an expert from a more mild opponent.

Questions
1) Considering the amount of ragequits I'm getting, I'll say there's no penalty aside from the names turning purple if you quit too much.
Dropped matches don't count either afaik coz I was on rank up status and got dropped 3 times and everytime it was the same number of matches and had the rank up sign in all of them.

2) Blocking is the best answer if you're in the air, if you have a special that beats SDs that works too like Cell's Kamehameha or Gotenks' spin but I'd say it's generally not worth the risk.

3) Mids are all negative, some are unsafe but those are rare. 6M (the universal overheads) are 0 on block. after blocking them 4L twice will beat any button they do.

4) I thought Leffen plays Frieza? Might have to go check but there was a player that had Frieza on point and was really good.

They must because I stopped playing ranked and casual after I hit yellow and have only played ring matches with the bit of free time I've had and hit orange in as little as 30 ring matches. Wasn't a mop session either, set ended at like 17-13.

I KNEW SOMETHING WAS DIFFERENT WITH THAT! That explains alot. Ive recently seen a video of Sajam playing DBFZ. And ive noticed ALREADY his square was yellow but his record was 0 - 0. So that explains that factor. And finally know what Blue square means....losing streak. In other words, you suck ass! Have you seen any of these squares?
