I need to rant for a bit..

Serious question:

If Starfire is now the "better Deadshot" why is she never seen or even used hardly at app, especially in the tournament scene?

If Starfire is "fine" the way she is, why does no one in the competitive scene say so? Sonic says she sucks for God's sake.

*hyperthonk*

God.. I'm really hoping Paulo gives her some love in the next patch after TMNT because I'm sick of people saying she's fine when she's not.

Give us a good mid with fast enough startup to jail after a d1 on hit, Make f2 not knock away so we can get good damage off it, give us d1 orb back, and make our s1 not randomly whiff when trying to punish airborne opponents.

(╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻

There's too many haters on her because she is "boring" but I could say the same about tons of other characters as well.

Shujinkydunk always says she is good. In fact, before the Deadshot nerfs, he already said back then she is the only one who can compete with Deadshot.

Tweedy, Semij and Sooneo all use her in tournies, they only use her as a counter pick character but they still use her.

And yes I don't understand why people call her boring. They say she is boring because her main archetype is Zoning. Except that 1)Yes her strongest archetype is Zoning but she can do also a bit of others, making her a versatile character, not super versatile but still. And 2) I think it it's very awkward to call her "boring" because of her Zoning, while she is in a game that is mainly a Zoning game and there are so many other Zoners and even a few pure Zoners in it.

I had like a small seizure when I saw PL and Ultradavid say she's top 5. Like what are they basing this off of? Did they lose to her on ranked without knowing anything about her and just make a super hot take?

I also don't think she's boring at all. I don't think Superman is boring either tho so maybe I just have a weird taste in characters.

Who even said she's boring? That's an opinion not a fact. Drop it.

FACT is that all her "good stuff" has massive drawbacks.
Mostly that she has "good tools" that LEAD TO NOTHING.

Half the cast has massive options off of d1, hers got taken away. Will every other character's be taken away?

Or look at her trait, it technically does the same thing Supergirl's does, just does it worse.

@Tweedy you're not alone, I think Superman isn't boring either; played him for 4 years because he's my favorite DC superhero.

Honestly my biggest issue with Starfire is her trait. We have to use more than half of it at the end of a combo to get at least good damage for a bar or do little to nothing meterlessly and then we are left with half of it.

In other words, we have one usage of trait after a bnb. So if we use it, then our "mind games from zoning" is GONE. We are left with specials with massive recovery and it takes one reaction to MB roll to get full combo punished.

There is no way or reason anyone would choose not to use her trait for a giant increase in damage; it makes up for having to not spend a bar.

I get the idea: cash out for damage or don't. Problem is her damage nerf forces her to cash out because if you land a hit from a combo, that's something that will probably only occur rarely at all in a match.

They worded it very confusingly I honestly have no idea what it means at all
I can understand the second one about MB Stardust, it was basically a fix to it's cool-down after connection with Armor or when it's destroyed. But the first one I have no idea what it means.

My best guess is that if your thumb ends up pressing uf then the u input (very far) will outprioritise the f input (far) and produce a very far star dust

I find using just two ticks of trait is the best compromise to this - not TOO big a damage sacrifice and if you only use 1 or 2 ticks in regular gameplay it works out reasonably well.

Also I personally love it when opponents start MB rolling. Makes them much easier to predict lol.

I was playing an Adam yesterday and I kept ducking under the first two hits of f12. Also divekick is another thing that S1 can't punish for some reason. S2 works fine tho, but it is a slower punish than other characters get.

Seems like we have to pay very close attention to the height it is done from because various heights have various amounts of pushback. In some cases S1 will work but s2 won't reach and vice versa. :\

So something that has been on my mind is 21 in the neutral. You actually can not whiff punish this move because it creates an active hitbox in front of her. That said, you can jump it but if they do that then you can finish the string entirely which has nice range.

Thoughts?

Yeah 21 has no whiff recovery almost, actually had a Superman try to whiff punish it a few times in a set but I was still able to block.

I tend to stick to d1 punishes on Black Adam's divekick, punishing with 11 is almost always a problem lol.

So I'm going to say it.

Starfire's F2 should be a mid.

It knocks away on hit so we get nothing off it.

It stops everyone from mashing d2 after a blocked B3 or during hit advantage.

Its a safe option for us to play footsies and if we commit into F2 trait, then there goes the zoning mind game.

The ONLY REASON why I can see it noting being a mid if F21+3 was a true grab or it didn't launch on it but it isn't so we end up in massive recovery just begging for our opponents to punish us.

How did I not know this. Why is this not being talked about?

The timing is weird but you can cancel her orb into trait immediately. This is actually amazing for creating space because on block they are nearly sent full screen.

I love how great the startup and recovery is on all her zoning.
It literally doesn't get blown the fuck up every single time by everyone ever at all. <3
