That MLG Dallas online qualifier situation is similar to this one indeed, but in that case the cheater didn't obtain anything. He managed to ruin the tournament but he still obtained 0.

In this case the cheater :

- ruined the tournament;
- won 1k $, which is a lot...expecially compared to NRS events payouts. It's around the same amout a player gets for placing 5th at a Premier;
- might win a free trip to the US (which is probably worth around 2k$) and has the chance to win a substantial amount of money playing for the biggest prize pool any NRS event has ever had.

Sounds good on paper and convenient. But not as secure and difficult to supervisor other players to make sure they follow tournament rules.

The main issue, imho, is the fact that despite the presence of many cheating hints and 1 month investigation from ESL, Bambooka didn't receive any penalty.

It's not admins fault, and I understand that it's not possible to say that he cheated 100%, but, for online tournaments, an extremely high chance of cheating should still be penalized or there will always be ways to break the rules without consequence, no matter what ruleset will be used. Microphones, webcams or whatever are not enough.

Admins need more power

Everything I’m about to say is based on my own experience of KingUsha, as I’ve played vs him randomly since injustice 1. He is a super sketchy dude that even takes random casual online games super seriously, to the point were he has lost to me in MKX with Kung Lao, and before the second game can begin I will have received a message saying “only started using KL”, of course, upon checking his character record, it turns out to be his number one character, so something like this wouldn’t be out of character for him.

No doubt he will have other questionable Russian mates on here that will try and vouch for him simply because he is Russian so are they. I think @stosn has already tried to defend him, of course, without reading the ESL rules before doing so.

It's up for interpretation and was in question from the moment it started. Extremely obvious I honestly believe and to a jury of peers, one would expect to receive a majority verdict in favour of disqualification.

Sadly this isn't the case, hopefully in the future we can have a tribunal panel for top 16/8 that can judge these online qualifiers to stop fraud and improve not only the quality but also help legitimize online players and their placings.

I don't think that would solve any problem, people cheat online even in tournaments where the prize pot is non existent or very low, they would surely do that when a free trip somewhere is on the line.

The only real solution is give the admins the power to disqualify when there are very strong hints of cheating, without the necessity of any 100% proof

I am from Russia and everything you say about Kingusha is absolutely true. I don't think any sensible person will vouch for that shit. Especially when bambooka is taking Inspectachoz's place in eleague, he is an amazing Atro player from my area, who can't get a visa.

And I remember pig talking that Russian players are irresponsible for not getting a visa in time, that isn't always true. The problem is getting an American visa for Russians in general these days. And you can't blame a player for the situation in international relationship between two governments. Most of the good players in Russia don't have much spare money, and just applying for visa costs a lot for them.
This cheating situation is a mess, but you can't blame all Russian players for the crap that a couple of cheaters did. Sure we are fucked because we were born in the wrong country))) you guys are so lucky !
Great solution to the visa problem would probably only let those who already have a visa to participate in online qualifiers. And right now situation isn't much different. Even if a visaless dude wins, his place still goes to the next person in line who has visa. But why even bother ?! I mean sure ban Russia, why would you want your community to grow on the international level.

Rules forced players to choose between pathtopro and IPS events. If you got 45 IPS points during the whole season, you lose the chance to play in the pathtopro circuit and forfeit the 1st place money that you might have won before getting the 45 points.

It didn't help anyone, I was registered for Viennality but had to drop out due to the rules. I didn't attend VSF for the same reason.

Rules deserve their own topic really.
