Tekken 7 General Discussion Thread - OP Updated With All Tekken Info

It's all so very confusing.
Ok, about to bring up tier list placements again, so everyone grab your pitchforks and come at me.

Lars is universally low on various tier lists. Lists made by people who know Tekken. I dont know what Eventhubs says and Ive never looked. Just going based on his placements via the lists LINKED in the first post of this thread. Before I go any further.. I am not using the lists to base my picks on.. But they are informative for various reasons.

Lars caught my eye today, as I was looking over some of his stuff (he has some flashy looking shit but I dunno if its of any real use) and he seems strong.. tons of pokes, weak CH game according to Fergus' guide, but he has some good launchers, high wall damage, lots of lows.

Why is he listed in the lower tier of characters? Is a weak CH game that important? I guess I could see that, as he cant heavily discourage people from mashing against him.. Shrug. Just trying to educate myself.

@EntropicByDesign I'll get to that when I have more time, but yea Lars isn't the beast he was in T6.

What determines this sidestep ruling? They don't track to the my right for some reason?
The properties of the moves the characters use. Like if your fighting Bryan some of his better moves can be side stepped in that direction, so it's the route you would prefer to take. So like a random numerical example would be a character has 8 strong moves, 7 can be side stepped one way, and 1 the other way, you're going to side step to the 7/8 way. So facing Bryan, you're going to SSR facing his moveset, where as facing another character you would SSL facing their moveset.

Is it impossible to roll backwards from FUFT position? Or at all? I keep getting a weird get up where I scurry away.

Another salty night.

The fuck is with those Paul players?

They dont give shit about neutral they just go ham with that damn fist, which even if blocked creates so much space that... he can do it again. And why the FUCK his low is a launcher on clean hit and is a part of a string?! And dont get me started on his damage, 3 hits like 45-50%.... And also fucking SS doesn't work coz most of his moves tracks very well.

In other words i got mopped. Fuck Paul.

I look forward to it. Leo is cool but just.. I dunno. When you click with a character you WANT to play them, you are excited and interested to look at tech and info and to practice and get better, etc, and I realized when I was doing that with Leo it was more just "well I need to do this so I guess I will" where-as with Steve I'm always excited to research and lab and practice. So I'm kinda hunting around for a replacement for Leo from amongst the "easy" characters.

Wait, what string are you talking about?

When i see a guide that says SSL against jin

The only thing this will sidestep is his EWHF, and even then, he can SSL left into EWHF so its really no much of a use, Jin is full of homing CH launchers in the this game, good luck trying to SS him.

Ok Paul is super fun, I never knew I could KBD with sway characters but I guess that was when I first learned it but now holy shit. Just moving around and hop kicking, demo man and death fisting people is so much fun, lol. Def found my non mishima secondary he is so cheesy.

He's annoying as fuck, my next character to lab extensively so i can destroy all scrubs playing him. The amount of cheese with this one is bonkers.

Oh yes, I remember the growing pains... and the salt :D

Deathfist/qcf2 can be launched by Dragunov with f1+2 unless it's blocked at absolute tip range. As for the other stuff... well stick with the game and in a year you'll look back and laugh at these salty outbursts :D

Back roll animation was replaced with that new animation. Think of it as kind of like a tech roll backwards. If you get spiked to the ground with the old bound moves at the wall you must hold back or you eat a guaranteed ground hit.

Def found my secondary with Paul he is super fun. Took him straight into ranked lost to some good players and got raped by some scrubs. Made it to Brawler in 20 something games and then shit got a lil more real without knowing punishes, combos or frame data.

Definitely a good character for newer players also.

I finished labbing all the new characters... then in treasure battle I got hit by the 2nd hit of some Lili string twice which I am pretty sure is completely new. Turns out she indeed has some new moves. Qcf2,1 is a homing mid-mid delayable NCC that's safe on block (-7). Uf2 is a freaking wallsplatting -12 mid with a huge built in sidestep, way bigger than Jin's or Feng's. FF1+2 is a homing mid which also knocks down and wallsplats, she has 3 levels of the move based on the amount of charge. Instant ( after 1 spin) is reasonably fast, negative on hit, 2 spins deals more damage and is significantly + on block, 3 spins is an unblockable. Also, as if she didn't have those enough, she has an advancing jumping mid string on uf4,3. Her fF2 is now a mid LAUNCHING POWER CRUSH. It's mega unsafe (-17), but still... she has it... she has it.
