It's all so very confusing.
Things Ive learned from SFV top 8 at Final Round 20.

Mika is still terrifying and relevant. I rarely see her any more and while I never thought she bad or weak, after seeing her piloted by the best in the business, Im inclined to think she's not just solid, but very very strong. Good. I am glad of this.

Strider is still terrifying and relevant. He was always one of my favorites in IV and I LOVED his Abel. Glad to see him in a top 8. He may have been rocking out previous to this and I just didnt know, but shrug.

Kbrad is better than I thought. I always looked at him as quite good, but not quite at that godlike level that makes you not an occasional threat but a constant and legit threat, but the way he played at FR was just excellent. He looked amazing. Also, Wolfkrone pop-off. Additionally, battle costume.

Xian has also always been one of my favorite players. I LOVED his Gen (one of my pocket characters in IV) and seeing him in a strong character like Ibuki is great. I REALLY like Fang, but it just sucks to see a professional player whos livlihood is based on his success, grinding out a bad character that Capcom not only left bad, but arguably made worse in relation to the cast and the meta shift. Ibuki looks so disgusting in his hands. Love it.

Im starting to agree with Cammy being as good as so many people think she is. I never disputed that she was really good, but I didnt used to subscribe to her being top 5.

Also, Just randomly, Sako said Urien MIGHT be upper mid-tier.

One of the main things I took away from FR20 is just how SFV CAN be. I bitch and I scream about V here on a regular basis, but the game CAN be great. Its nice to be reminded of that occasionally. Its sad that it requires 1v1, offline, absolute tippest of top level play for it to shine through, but the game can be great, can be hype. I want Capcom to fix the game for those of us who cant A) Be Tokido and play at that level and B) Play exclusively offline. I want to enjoy the game and really dig in, but whenever I try the horseshit just disgusts me and makes it impossible to enjoy myself. The foundations exist to build V in to something incredible. Capcom just needs to handle thier shit and stop failing miserably at, ya know, not being a good dev.

Also un FG related, I have either a torn rotator cuff or bursitus in my right shoulder and I have been in unending pain and unable to take more than half a breath for about 8 hours now. This is more misery than Ive been in in years.

Any character piloted by fuudo is scary. Seriously, fuudo being better than almost everyone he plays vs isn't confirmation that Mika is a great character. She's ok. That's it.

Striders great but I wanna see him be consistent as of right now he's just the random Laura that's going to do well in every tournament. If he continues to be "the" Laura then I'll change my tune. Still think idom has a better Laura.

Kbrad has consistently been a top 5 player in America for a long time. He's godlike. There was like a two year period in sf4 where he was the only person that could beat infiltration. If you're known as infiltrations demon you've got some skills.

I agree. Xian is one of my favorite players and it's great to see him actually pick a character that doesn't handcuff him and limit him to just making top 16s.

Cammy has always been top 5 imo. She's pretty sick.

Eh. I've heard a lot of talk about Urien not being top 5. It's possible, but I dunno. His main problem(if he has one) is that it's possible to kill him before he can use aegis. He needs to activate to be a threat whereas a lot of other characters are busted all the time. So his potential is higher than everyone else's but his average strength might be below a few of the other top tiers. I dunno how I feel but I'd say Rog, Laura, Cammy, Guile, Ibuki, Zangief, and Karin are the only characters you could even argue are better than him so I don't think he could be below 8th.

Yeah, ER cant do anything useful. I have to make an appt with a regular dr so I can make an appointment for x-rays so i can get a referral to a fucking specialist who can set me up for surgery. To make it even more fun, the three doctors I called wont accept my insurance information. I dont have my insurance card (provider switch) yet and they wont just take a number I give them, they all said I have to have my physical insurance card first, which i called to have resent this morning since I never received a new one after the provider swap (this was something on the insurance end, it was nothing i did.. they were bought out or changed systems or something, fuck if I know) and will take 7-10 days to arrive... so Im looking at dealing with this for a week or two until I can get to a doctor and start to take steps. Ive had this issue REALLY flaring up like this for two weeks now and its gone from like, minor/barely there, to debilitatingly painful. Cant sleep, cant breath, cant use my right arm for much or anything.. Im also in a supremely foul goddamn mood.

Ive had symptoms of a torn rotator cuff for over a year now, and now this weird flare-up more or less confirms it, though it could still possibly be bursitis.

I think Mika is bonkers, not just Fuudo. I mean yeah, Fuudo is going to play scary with anyone, but I wasnt seeing a meh character taken to extremes by a good player, I was seeing a really good character with pressure, mixups, tech and answers to every situation he was put in (mostly). Usually when you see a meh character being piloted to the heavens by insane gameplay you're seeing weird setups people arent familiar with, or crazy reads or something that are elevating the character, and I wasnt seeing much like that, except the crazy Vtrigger stuff to shut down Xian's mixups (which i assume could be extended to other characters as well, making them REALLY powerful to shut down momentum). Dont get me wrong, Im not saying she's top 5 or anything, but I think she's way better than 'ok'. Agree to disagree I guess.

Now, on the Urien thing.. I.. after all my bitching and talk, I dunno. Im really starting to think he isn't as good as I thought he was. Now, that doesn't mean he isn't batshit and mega-stronk, but I'm really starting to feel like he isn't actually Jesus. I hope I'm right because I enjoy him as a character very much and when he's nerfed I hope it's extremely minor.

Yeah the timing so soon after the last maintenance points to it possibly being something, but a damn announcement would go a long way and this weird radio silence thing they're doing is pathetic.

When I say ok I mean relative to the cast. She's not in the top 1/3 she's competent but she's not very strong relative to the cast.

Eh. I coulda told ya that.

I'm just a Silver Scrub in this game. You'll probably get it whether I let you or not. Kind of got to ultra silver by not knowing too much game knowledge wise.
