Can't you just mash GB now?
Right now you cant, but you could in the beta. I liked how it was more skillful than mashing, and defense definitely needed more skill/timing requirements. I also think reverting this change is unfortunate.

Probably the changes to Helm Split/Swift strike being able to be omni-directional instead of the direciton they dash, and the fact they get a lot more off feints then most.
What's the inputs for these? I don't know most of the move names. Is it forward dash and side dash light? I wasn't aware this was changed at some point.

It is the dash attacks, used to be they could only come from the direction you dashed, so Helm Split, aka forward dash light would ALWAYS be an overhead before.

oh shit wait did that change from beta to release then? I mostly play kensei and I never noticed heh, always just thought it was a top attack like beta.

Probably due to the fact screwing up your GB timing would guarantee you getting your ass thrown/heavied before, now not so much. I'm indifferent to the change.
What? In the beta if you both GB'd, you would tech. Now it's random I believe. Either one of you gets the GB, or neither of you do. After the patch, if you both GB it will be teched.

At least that's my interpretation of the horribly worded patch notes.

Can the helm splitters first attack come from any direction now? Or is it the chain followups that can come from the other directions

Yeah I just tested it, helmsplitter is still always a top attack, don't know what buddy was talking about.
Dunno what I saw then, because I've seen a number of Horizontal Helm Splitters. May've been the stance warning system derping, though.

So I figured out how to remap Square to R3 on PS4, lol. If you don't know, go to "settings", then "accessibility". Then go to "button assignments" and there you go.

R3 doesn't actually do anything in this game afaik, and you R3 doesn't count as the right analog so you can still block with it.

This is so much better for guard breaking and teching. I don't have to take my thumb off of the right analog anymore for GB'd and techs.

Resolution through knowledge and resolve.
One person thinks a character is awesome, while others think that character is terrible. Everyone right now has differing opinions from character to character. Their thoughts on who is too weak and who is too strong is almost completely matchup dependent and heavily skewed by whom they use. The other players all have something to complain about with their character, but they're playing that character for a reason. Can we just admit that no one really knows much about balancing yet because everyone is seeing everyone through the eyes of their character?

Exactly, no one really knows right now. Which is why I don't agree with any balance patches this early. People are too focused on how "good" a character seems based on options and damage, while how good a character is really dependant on how they do in matchups.

Matchups determine tier lists, people seem to forget that.

I KNOW ALL

also i did this up
for valk, not gonna teach you much if you have put a lot alot of time into class, but its a decent walkthrough of their options and shit. Also fancy stuff like unlisted move(hint its dash forward guardbreak like kensei/raider).

I got all my footage in a row for max guardbreak damage for every class so I am starting to edit that vid up right now.

Imo Valkyrie has to have low damage or she'd be to beast.

You could get a free GB with Conq on a blocked light?! I DIDN'T KNOW THAT!!! KEEP THAT HE NEEDS IT!.
Conqueror is very strong, imo, but the GB isn't free because they can roll or tech it. Conqueror's defense puts him at an advantage after blocked attacks, but you need to actually parry for anything free. If you mixup well after blocks, you'rr going to be a pain in the ass for anu opponent. When you play Conqueror, hold this mindset...
