Can someone explain to me the timing on the combos? If I'm doing light, light, light, do I wait until the first light hit connects and continue with another light hit and so on?

I've been watching videos on YouTube but no one has explained the combo mechanics or the timing
Ye there is a specific timing to it you can't just mash it. It's different for different characters - with orochi he has a light light attack but you can only do it after the first attack hits (hitconfirm) You can go into a practice and try it. Or do a 1v1 vs bot and turn the bot off. But some of them have weird symbols so they can only be done in a certain situation like guard break or counter or deflect. If you get a feel for the character you'll get used to their attack speed and basically just use that to queue your combo inputs

From what I can tell, most combos dont string into eachother on hit for most classes. They are mostly for block pressuring.
That's not true lol. How can you block pressure if your opponent is blocking? Your sword just dings back and your in a bit of recovery plus that's a quick way to use up your stamina. Most combos need the first attack to be hitconfirmed from my experience and then you follow up with the combo if they block reset neutral.

I have learned the wonders of full guard parry. Holy shit that's easy. Defense op. Anyone wanna duel? Matchmaking is down.

Any one getting this game on PC? I played the Closed Beta and now the open Beta on UPlay but will get the full game on Steam when it's out.

If anyone wants to be training partners or do 2v2s add me

UPlay: Mercsinn
Steam: Mercsin

Also yea since the open Beta I've been very limited when it comes to matchmaking. 1v1s get me nowhere, 2v2s disconnect after 2-ish games and I hate Dominion and Deathmatch but they seem to be consistent at least.

Peacekeeper DOT needs some toning down lol. I love playing her but shanking you're opponent a couple times then running away is bullshit
She is only guaranteed one shank tops. You can tech it easy after that. It's still bullshit. Bleed shouldn't kill it should just be able to put you at the lowest health total only.

Whoever said the Berserker is a beast I believe you now. That character is a bitch to fight especially with Conq.

I got to play at a friends because apparently my Nat is strict even though my bro gets a moderate on his XB1. Fucking bullshit.

Full block is your friend. It's very unlikely you'll have a super consistent parry against characters like Peacekeeper, Berserker, Orochi. So doing full block parries slows down their offensive quite a bit. Also remember that you can keep your heavy charging as Conq. And Also remember that Conq's normal block is like the best in the game since it actually deflects and leaves you at advantage. So you can keep your heavy charging, deflect, apply pressure with that heavy into a mixup of shield charge, second heavy, stuff like that. Conq takes a good while to get used to the nuances of (hell I'm still getting used to him. He's definitely the harder of the two shield characters but imo his Defense is WAY better. Which makes sense since offensively Warlord is better than him)

Btw! On the subject of "How strong is defense in this game" I'm of the opinion that good defense is a lot more favored than good offense. HOWEVER you still need a good offensive to keep up especially against the more aggressive characters of the game (Nobushi, Peackeeper, Orochi, Berserker) because you can only defend for so long before you slip up. This is a game of opportunity (much like ACTUAL fighting) you find your opening and then you apply your pressure. Some characters have better pressure than others but trade that off for less accessible defense (Again, Orochu, Berserker, Peacekeeper) so obviously you're not going to see these characters turtle. That's ridiculous. HOWEVER! You then have the shield bros, Conq and Warlord. These two are a PERFECT example of how defense should be in this game. Patience and the tools to utilize that patience in an effective way. On Conq you have the GODLIKE ability to deflect every damn hit (you wont get a punish but you're left at advantage) when this game fleshes out more on release, I have a strong feeling that Conq players gameplans will be to wait for YOU to swing and pressing the advantage with a solid block/parry (or infiniting you on a wall which is always nice) Warlord is something completely different. He is the very definition of "Guard, Repost" parrying I'd argue is MUCH more important on Warlord. And his pressure is no joke either (there's a reason headbutt got nerfed people) he plays defense in a way that looks a LOT like offense due to the nature of his heavies having armor. Top that off with him having one of the BEST whiff punishes out there (Strong+Light is godlike for whiff punishing) and you have a character that can be relentless, but also defensive. Anyway. I rambled a bit there but hope that shows where I stand on some things lol.

I made up 2 tutorial vids for the Kensei and the Raider:

If you have dumped any real time into them, they probably won't teach you much you don't know. However if you looking to give them a shot maybe the info can do you some good.

Something feels so off about the netcode for this game. Like maybe they are used an input delay based netcode to make things look smoother visually, but feel worse

Good video man cheers, I really dig the kensei, only one I've used and he's good fun. I didn't know you could feint the hits after cancelling the unblockable, what are the inputs for that.

***all good got it.

Pretty sure I had you in a few matches already. Kinda amusing, actually.
Username for both steam and Uplays the same as here.
