"Statement on the Beta"

It's all so very confusing.
People are just too dense and too butthurt to actually apply basic reading comprehension.

The damn statement flat out says SOME PEOPLE WITH NRS CONTACTS GOT CODES IN A MANNER OTHER THAN THE OPEN REGISTRATION. The OPEN REGISTRATION itself was randomly chosen.

How hard is that?

Further, why on earth do you think it would be otherwise? Here's another little tidbit the torch-burners arent allowing to spoil their perfect little whine-fest.. The number of people given codes direction, the streamers and/or pros or high profile 'celebs' in the NRS community are a TINY portion of the pool of beta players. I'd be willing to bet a fair sum that NRS didnt have SO MANY 'gimmes' that they had to restrict the number of open reg codes any more than they chose to from the beginning. Ie, since reading is hard for some people, if they decided they needed 5000 people for the beta test(s) they didnt say, well, we have 90 streamers/pros/celebs to give direct keys to, so better only send out 4910 open registration codes. And to clarify that point further, because god knows it's needed, that means that you didnt miss out on a code because a streamer got one through his connections with NRS. You missed out on a code because your email address didnt get chosen.

Im super sorry you wanted something and you didnt get it.. but this is a pretty common practice and I dont see anything whatsoever wrong with it. No matter what angle you look at it from, it STRONGLY behooves NRS to distribute keys to 'key' people in and around the community in addition to the raffle keys.

In my opinion the beta was planned poorly and they should never have assigned codes through emails.
The two things that imo infuriated everyone the most were two things:

1. That some people registered many emails so we would see countless people receive multiple codes while the majority were left with none. On top of that they had the audacity to sell them at ridiculous prices.

2. Pre orders were not issued codes. I did not pre order but I know many people who were extremely mad about this. I myself would have been livid if I took time out of my day to support the game and pre order and not receive a code.

Honestly I think giving out codes to well known streamers/ players makes sense and don't see anything wrong with that.

Everything else I feel is just an extension of the two reasons I mentioned.

Just putting it out there that I never received an email with a code (despite me being one of the biggest supporters of the game). I only got one from someone on twitter.

I'm sure many YouTubers/Streamers/Top Players get codes because they know people that are willing to donate their code to them.
Not that people need to explain their situations but thanks for letting us know.
It will help clear stuff up and maybe keep speculations from happening.

Because this is for testing the game, not a reward for sales. The average person who preordered the game has no idea what's going on. Everyone who signed up signed up because they actively want to try the beta.

If there are only a set number of codes, I'd prefer they go to people who indicate they want to test the game, rather than those who just had a bunch of money, may not even play the Beta, or will play it and say "Eww only 5 characters I'm bored" and drop it after a day.

the first day the beta started there were a few thousand codes randomly assigned and emailed out for each platform. employees in total were giving a few dozen codes to give to friends & family. Sure some of those went to some players / streamers that they know personally while most went to whoever at their desecration.
wave 2 a few more thousand codes went out, and only a few employees were able to get some extra codes for f&f and derek & i took 75 codes frost faustings to personally give out to ppl first come first serve.
yesterday another few thousand codes went out and we're pretty much out of employee codes.

most of these streamers/players actually got their codes because they were luckily emailed or they got from a viewer/subscriber or a follower on twitter after complaining they don't have one. some were even then afterwards saying something vague like I got this from a hookup to imply they were hollywood and got a code directy from 'nrs' when they didn't.

also when you signed up doesn't factor into getting an email. If you registered before the signups ended. They were randomly selected from the entire pool.
Respectfully... I appreciate you taking the time to clear that up. Makes sense now.

And I think your last point is the most important. Judging by the response on forums, I think a lot of "casuals" got codes and we just don't know about it. And they will probably only play a few matches here and there, then forget about it.

Personally, if I ever get my code, I know I'll be playing the beta every single day for as long as possible. I just love NRS games. But as a programmer myself, I also understand the importance of extensive testing. So I'd be glad to help in that regard :D

It's a shitty feeling signing up for a beta for a game your super hype and not getting in. Sure, it sucks seeing youtubers and streamers have access above and beyond you, but it's NRS' beta. They can do what they want with it.

Im sorry but that logic is completely flawed. Im pretty sure pre ordering a game is a pretty strong indicator that they want to test the game as well. Also implying that the people who received the beta are people who "know whats going on" is completely not true since the codes went out randomly to thousands of people.

So every 12 year old who Pre orders should be ENTITLED to a beta? So professional gamers/top players/top streamers/top YouTube users shouldn't get the beta and we should rely on casuals to take the wheel? Are we sure we wanna bring up flawed logic here? GTFO here

Just don't anounce waves. Yall hype us up with announcements of an announcement for beta updates and waves knowing that only a small fraction will get in. Don't get me hype for something that I probably won't recieve. That's the community's frustration.

Yes they should if they pre ordered. And if you had read my previous comment, you would have seen I said I have no problem with streamers and top players getting codes. It makes sense.

It would have made waaaay more sense to give codes to those that pre order than to give it out randomly to people who could have registered countless emails.

I've seen some of the same "randoms" in Player Match every single day since I've had a key. I think we have to drop this notion that everybody outside of TYM is useless. There are a lot of people you and I have never heard of who signed up for the beta because they want to grind and lab/learn their characters like everybody else.

Requiring them to sign up means that they know exactly what they're getting into and want to participate, vs. giving the limited number of codes out to people who bought the game early and might not have an idea what early beta is. Better to have people who want to be here and follow the devs on Twitter than people who just had extra money to spend early on the game.

Oh my lord. I think people are confusing a beta for something totally different. You aren't entitled to a beta key. A beta is a small test environment to make sure the product is functioning as intended, has as few bugs as possible, and to get feedback on the product.

What isn't communicated? You enter your email, you might get a code.

What is going on guys, Ya Boi Zyphox here.
there is a lot of butthurt in this thread. And so many likes on comments that say people didn't have priority, when the specifically said if they have contacts with NRS they probably got a code some other way. A lot or most of the streamers/youtubers/top players got dm'd codes, and it's completely different than getting randomly chosen for the beta through email. if you have a problem with i just said maybe you should work hard at tournaments, network and make some friends or fans that way next closed beta for an NRS title you're a shoe in for the beta.

I want to know how many people signed up in total vs how many codes NRS plans to send out? Like by the end of the beta will the number of people that actually get beta codes only end up being 10% of the total people that signed up? 20%? 50%?

I just want to know what the odds even are

Feels even worse watching D2 mashing, rage quitting, random joe get a code to stream the game to his 2 Twitch viewers. lol

But, game's only a few months away now. Let's hang in there!

What would be the point when you have desperate people and professional code farms registering hundreds of thousands of email addresses? It's not like they put a captcha on there.

Dude you were complaining about not having a code until you got one. If you didn't get one you'd still be complaining.

I just want to know if the odds of getting a beta code at this point are actually likely or 100,000 to 1...
