MKXL Hatemail Thread Part Deux!

I ALWAYS run into these people that call me a button masher and saying it's laggy because I do something plus then I get like a free poke off it. I started to realize that people start to call you laggy because they dont know frames or how they work ._. I do something plus you cant press buttons, its not lag you fart nugget

I think the only Online matches I've played since the MKXL PC Beta was a Private set with @Gooberking , otherwise I haven't touched it.

Sounds about right though, especially with the win/loss ratio obsession. For me, in the past, I've used them as a guideline as I know they're not necessarily accurate for predicting success. Usually if I have a low chance of winning, (red percentage as I recall) I'll pass unless I'm looking for a challenge or match up experience. If it's yellow or green I'll give it a go.

But yeah, the disconnecting, tea bagging, spam accusation for silly things, etc. are all the norm and sap some of the fun for me.

For the PC community as a whole, if the Steam forums are any indication it's also no surprise. I don't post there anymore since that board is extremely special, though I lurk on occasion and usually get a headache as a result.
So I decided to go on the steam forums to get an idea and this is the first thing I see.

"I've enjoyed playing this game for a very long time, but instead of it feeling like a classic, I'm left with the same disappointment you can expect with pretty much every Mortal Kombat game ever made. The content is wonderful; that isn't the issue... The issue is the complete absence of character balancing and juggling gone completely off the rails. I know every fighter, and can execute almost all of their moves, but this game has serious issues when it comes to juggling. A better name for MKX would be 'Juggling Abuse Simulator,' because that's all every fight boils down to in the end. Some characters don't heavily rely on juggling, but they have absolutely no chance of beating those who do. For those not familiar with juggling, it is a method of keeping your opponent in the air for as long as possible, and being able to attack them without them being able to do anything to counter it. You only have one way to escape a juggle in MKX, which is your two bar EX breaker, but it won't help. The worst players in the world will spend their entire lives coming up with the lamest combos imaginable, ones that offer you absolutely no way out, and have infinite resets, so that when you DO finally hit the ground, they have a 50/50% chance of starting the combo on you once again. Since some of these ridiculous combos end up doing 50% damage... you can get the picture... That's basically it. I really like the game's content overall, and the fighting system is extremely fun... until you end up facing a juggle ♥♥♥♥♥, and you simply have no chance of winning unless you juggle ♥♥♥♥♥ them back... and I'd rather be doing something better with my time. Personally, when I do one of these combos on another player, I feel like a complete jerk, because I know how messed up it is, but don't expect anyone online to admit it. So, if you wanna drop a lot of money to have a good time... for a while... then go for it. I have certainly had my share of fun, but if you think you're going to use skill and actual fighting to win fights against juggle ♥♥♥♥♥s... think again. A prime example of this problem is Kotal Kahn compared to Takeda. Kotal has very slow attacks, and a slow projectile, but his combos do massive damage, as he is extremely difficult to use until you learn his moves. He is well designed. Takeda, on the other hand, has a lightning fast teleport, whips that can strike you and open combos on the other side of the stage, very fast, HUGE juggling combos, and a lightning fast low projectile. (can't be blocked unless you're crouch blocking) Can you guess who you'll be fighting online? Takeda. 87% of the time. It gets old after a while, as the game allows you no way to defeat a character that laughably unbalanced unless you do the same thing. Not even the ALIEN or PREDATOR has a chance, and in my book, that's very bad game design, and why I'm not recommending MKX despite enjoying it."

Tl;dr if you couldn't be bothered to read that novel, he's basically saying that the game is a juggle simulator, but I'd advise you read it just for the sake of cringe.

Yeah, and there's usually worse stuff posted on there of all kinds. It's a sad, sorry place dominated by way too much needless negativity.

I'm also PC and I think my experience might be somewhat atypical. I don't really get rage quits or plug pulls. I figure most of the people declining me are because of my record though. Which, frankly, seems fair since most of the people I even can play supposedly have a 0% chance, even though that's often not true. Plenty of decent or good players that I'd supposedly mop because I've got way more games played than them.

Maybe it's because I can pretty much only play NA players and there aren't too many of them? Maybe they're all like me and just don't care as long as the ping is less than 150. The vast majority of players I see in rooms are >220 ping, so I figure most of them aren't on the same continent as me.

Did you Formally transition over to BM?

You seemed to have done more for dissecting venomous than anyone. I was kind of curious if you had any simi-recent matches of yours with V to kind of see how you were approaching her post 10/4.

I've not had much negative interactions online. That may be a product of me really only playing if I'm losing. Most people just disappear if I'm winning, but keep quiet. I'm certain chipout spray has has run off a few people, but most people that have sent any messages are usually just sending ggs and what not.

I'd still consider myself a Venomous main, but I play a lot of BM now, too. Been in a character crisis lately though because those two just can't cover some matchups and my old characters either don't help, got nerfed, or don't interest me anymore. Been working on Mournful, who I like a lot but suck with atm.

Now, I need to make this clear. I'm not a particularly good player. I'm OK at best, unless you're judging by tournament standards. Then I'm garbage. I understand the game, tech, strategies, etc., but I can't execute the things I know. What my head knows and what my hands do are often two different things, so recent footage of me won't help you I think.

However, I have lately come to the conclusion that it's best to play Venomous like a grappler with no command grab. By going for extensive strike/throw mixups, you can actually land her heavier damaging high or mid strings. Then on top of this she has the 50/50 vortex.

D'vorah is +10 after a throw, which is enough time to dash up and block or meaty.

Makes me kind of dream of them giving her the Cryomancer treatment and turning the end of f34 1+2 into a command grab. Preferably one with a damage over time component. F11 tick throws...can you imagine, lol?

I've never fully gotten a handle on brawler ticks but that sounds super interesting. Am I going to spray you or tick you? That's kinda nasty but helps solve some of your f11 complaints I would think.

Anyway, I've appreciated the details you've put out about the lonely variation. I got into her after spending about 90 hours learning I can't do bug cancels. It's been a better fit for me but I'm probably never going to be that great by any standard. It's been fun though.

Thanks for noticing and caring. It actually means a lot to me that the things I write and post are noticed and help people.

I've actually been considering writing a full guide on Venomous and BM for awhile now, but I've just never gotten around to it.

In the past 2 days I've probably had more hate than I've had in the past 2 months.

The first was some guy who put his mic on after his 3rd or so loss and just began to constantly call me trash ( he lost like 20-0 btw), and the second guy did the same thing and began to get the maddest I've ever seen. He wasn't raging, he was calmly calling me a c*nt and saying I was trash, I've done nothing he hasn't seen before, and that he'd love to play me offline(the ping was at a stable 70-80). Beat him 15-0 too.

Seriously, what fuels these guys to get so irrationally angry, to the point where they can't accept loss?

Could be a whole host of reasons. No one _likes_ to loose, of course, but some people really take it to the next level.

I've mentioned this in other threads, but I've personally noticed internet anger in general has really increased in the last half decade. Can't say exactly why, but a few associates of mine had an interesting theory that it's due to the rise in eSports.

Everyone wants to be the next big eSports star, and can't accept when they're really no where near that level. While I doubt that's the whole reason and everyone's reasons, I can certainly see it playing a role.

I did a troll brutality to my buddy, and he ragequitted. I sent him the following message:

"Did you like the trollolity? Hahahaha"

I'm waiting for his reply. lol

What did I do to him? I froze him with the Iceball, while he was closing on me. I did the trolling, and then D2 (Brutality). lol
