Street Fighter V General Discussion

I'll be back 3ing
It's a mystery whether Infiltration is sandbagging or just actually getting beat. Some players are better in SFV now then Infiltration ever was in his prime (4 months ago)

infil won evo and has done well at every major tournament he's played in(that he's used his known mains in). To say there are players(plural) that are noticeably better than he ever was is kinda silly.

That might actually be one of the least idiotic things Myles has posted here though, because it does seem that certain players like Momochi & co. are leveling up at such a significant rate. It's hard to say for sure though when Infiltration will whip out his dookie Balrog in a top 8 out of the blue lol. Suffice to say it seems fair to say others are at least catching up if not already caught up and/or beyond.

What do you guys think of this video? Is this guy full of shit?

I mean, I get that option selects like that are a dime a dozen in SFIV, but in V, it seems like you need a much more specific scenario to execute a chain OS. I think you need a move that isn't able to be cancelled into, such as Ryu's parry. Also, you would need a move that can't be cancelled out of, like cr. LK. He makes it seem like you can just make your own option selects in V, but I don't think that's the case. Thoughts?

Also, hit confirming off 1 light? That can't be possible.

yeah people have caught up to him, but I don't think there's anyone that's significantly better than him. At least not to the point where you can say they're better than he ever was.

sounds like a retard. No one is hit confirming off of ryus st lk. That's not possible. If the move hits on its first frame you've almost got less total frames to cancel into the move than you do frames of input lag. The math just doesn't work. How are you going to confirm something in 2 frames?

People can and do buffer it, but that's very different from a confirm. In the corner I'll do a block string that pushes me just out of st lk range and hit st lk and buffer an ex tatsu which will connect if they mash cr normals. That's not a confirm though.

actually of course it is possible i do it all the time except im not a scrub so i make sure to hitconfirm my light into another light then do a special cancel for optimal damage

if you cant do it then i guess whatseparates the bum golds from the gdlk platinums lul

the fact that you think platinums are godlike was the funniest part of that shit tier post. Also it's not optimal. Ryu gets more dmg off one light into hp dp xx ca than 2 lights.

did anyone else hear something lul
im sorry. I'll reiterate.

1. No you can't confirm off a single light in a match.

2. No, platinum level players are not godlike, they're barely tournament ready at best.

3. What you said was optimal was in fact wrong on many levels. It does less damage, and isn't even possible since ryu can't link his st lk into another light.

4. Yes, the funniest part of your incorrect and wildly douchey statement was that you somehow though referring to yourself as godlike was appropriate when no one would fucking know your name if you let your gameplay speak for itself instead of using that gaping maw that you call a mouth.

Where are the examples from SF5?

Exactly. He says these option selects are all over the place with any chain/special but doesn't show any. In theory, some of them should exist like the whiffed crouch light into sweep/special. The sweep/special should only come out on whiff. With backdashes not as prevalent in this game, I don't think that would be as useful. Maybe for Gief...

This is why I mostly ignore these types of things, how can you be claiming all this stuff when you cannot even back it up. Instead you just say random things and bring up stuff from a totally different game.

So I was playing against a Zangief last night that was very good (well everyone's good to me lol) and whenever I was cornered needless to say against Gief I just wanted the hell out of there, he just crouched in front of me and I was playing with Ryu so it seemed that ryu's normals are pretty short so he was winning the poking, footsies war, if I tried to jump at him while he was crouching he did the lariat all the time and I was again against the corner. What can I do against this problem? Also it seemed that his crouching jab beat out all my attacks.

lk buffered into ex tatsu/ex hadoken is good vs a gief that just sits and uses cr jab outside of range.

If he's standing close enough to you, jump tatsu is a reasonable way to get out of the corner vs him. He's slow enough that he shouldn't be able to chase you down.

Can't believe I didn't think of tatsu. Thanks.

It's all so very confusing.
Good games man. It's alright since i have work in 30 minutes lol.

Also what's Balrog's OH on block?

I want to say its -8 or there-abouts. It can be spaced out some though to be trickier to punish, but its super negative. +5 on hit I think, so of course you can combo into st.mp then combo-able rush punch of your choice, etc.
