Breakthrough - Raiden Raiden balance changes

I try to cover that empty space with a fast lightning string (112,f12b2 or b31) to keep my opponent in check while building meter on block at the same time. I think it'd help if b31 was faster on startup, not too fast so he can machine gun it but fast enough so he wouldn't fear checking his opponent with it from that distance.
I'm sure u meant b32. That's pretty good to check even mileena b12s. You just can't get too predictable

Double damage on MoS orbs! Also Raiden is now more plus on block on various moves apparently, but they didn't say which ones. Should be easier to set-up traps now (in MoS). Waiting for the patch notes.
 
  • Raiden - BK, BK is now +2 on block (up from -5) and can now be special cancelled
  • Raiden - Down+FK is now -4 on block and adjusted the hit region
  • Raiden - Vicinity Burst now has 2 hits of armor, hits mid, is -2 on block (down from 0), does 9 damage (up from 5), and no longer knocks down
  • Raiden - Vicinity Blast now does 8 damage (up from 5) and has 10 less recovery frames
  • Raiden - Electrocute & Shocker now hit mid
  • Raiden - Thunder Strike & Shocker no longer has armor
  • Raiden - Thunder Fly & Air Thunder Fly now have 2 hits of armor
  • Raiden - Electric Fly & Thunder Fly (air & ground) now recover 15 frames faster on miss

  • Raiden (Master of Storms) - Directional Static Trap startup and recovery is more consistent now
  • Raiden (Master of Storms) - Static Trap passive damage is now 0.5 (up from 0.2)

  • Raiden (Master of Storms) - Full Trap now activates in 11 frames (down from 12)

Wow, that's a big change. It totally changes the game's meta imo. That's how most characters started off their offense.

That makes me think though. Clearly the intent was to make people find other ways of starting a combo instead of relying on armored launchers, which were probably seen as too easy of a way out. I am guessing this will make for more strategic of a gameplay now. We can still get out of the corner with Thunder Fly or Vicinity Burst, we just can't easily combo off of a wake up anymore.

And speaking of Vicinity Burst, if it doesn't knock down anymore, I wonder if that'd make it easier to combo off of and if so, wouldn't that serve the role of an armored launcher of sorts?! So many questions. Only one day to go.

I wonder if he will have a safe way for setting up the traps.

I have actually been labbing MoS recently. I don't know but the variation is very interesting to me.

Normal vicinity blast is easier to combo now WITHOUT run cancelling. There are corner combos you can do that use non runcancelled vicinity blast and it scales less, because run cancelling it adds scaling. EX vicinity blast leaves you standing on hit, but against an airborne opponent it has more gravity than currently so you can't really combo off it.

Master of Storms has always been my favorite variation and I hope more people pick it up. The orbs already cancelled run before, and they should be even better now with the increased DOT and universal engine changes.

There's also new swag corner combos in the corner that allow you to set up an orb mid combo from 21~ex fireball, NJP. This is possible due to the reduced recovery on placing an orb. I can post vids tomorrow.

im worried for how good MoS is..i honestly picked it up as a joke for my youtube channel a few weeks ago. The passive damage to me seems really dangerous. Especially since it adds to combo damage. ill be making a video aboot it tomorrow
