Daigo hasn't really been OD since, like, AE2012. And in SFV, he hasn't even really shown himself to be as scary as before. Shit happens.

I feel like it'd be the same as not putting in characters like Jax, Reptile, and Ermac? While not extremely popular and favourited, they are just assumed to be in every sequel to the game and are recognised as they've been there since the beginning/early on and have continued to be in it.

I disagree, characters from SF2 don't have to be in every game. Give lesser known characters they're time to shine.

Do low tier characters in this game get bodied by the likes of Chun-Li/Ryu?

Basically I'm just asking is it a waste of time when I buy this game to focus learning Bison or Dhalsim?

Dont let teir placing worry you man, all characters in this game are viable. When they talk teir placing it doesnt mean you will get bodied by top teirs every game its about tools and match ups. You can still out play somebody who uses top teirs.

That was awesome! I just watched it. He got reset by Goichi in grand finals but it was pretty convincing after that. I've never seen a Chun player so afraid to play footsies.
