General/Other - Liu Kang Liu Kang Dragon's Fire & Flame Fist General Discussion

I hatelove this game
I think its interesting that this is being talked about. I've always felt flame fist was very underrated

Vs Acidic, this is an easy win. Acidic cannot compete in zoning from anywhere, alien has to go in. his only hope is to corner you and mix you

Vs Tarkatan, as long as you can option select EX WP after 2nd rekka you're fine. Being able to punish flip and any option after the rekkas which is not delayed for full combos into pressure is what wins here. i feel like this is 6.5 - 4.5 in favor of Flame Fist

Alien really only wins at about 3/4 screen and in the air. his range is absurd, please nerf this (soap bar in my mouth) Xenomorph. stay grounded and d2 the shit out of him every time he jumps. Also, if you get 50/50'd into oblivion obviously.

Even though Alien is the best character in the game, its good to know he has at least one bad matchup.
6.5 and 4.5 don't equal 10

How do you guys feel about the Quan Chi matchup. I've found it a bit difficult. What's the best variation for him? @EMPR_MURK @cR Xarakamaka and others
Flame Fist wins against Sorcerer and Summoner (6-4) because you can do good trades on the fireballs (10% each fireball with the flame fist ON); very easy for Flame Fist break Sorcerer's green stuff that gives armor for him; everytime that Summoner has the bat active, you can do a flying kick on reaction and get in Summoner's face. Quan Chi can't do much stuffs against FF's pressure, but Warlock has a good reversal that hits low, so it might be 5-5.

Dragon's Fire is better against Quan Chi because Dragon's Fire's pressure is better than Flame Fist's. Once Dragon's Fire gets in Quan's face, it's almost death for Quan Chi :p

Dragon's Fire vs Summoner - 6.5-3.5 or 7-3
Dragon's Fire vs Sorcerer - 6-4 or 6-5.3-5
Dragon's Fire vs Warlock - 6-4

Air Skulls and runes handle fireballs fine imo. Also dragon kick is unsafe and you're just putting yourself in position to get funblockabled. Quan has alright defensive options against Liu with backdash, and NJP, jump back 1, and b2.

Welcome to MB Fireball isn't working properly part 1.
Is this worthy of a Paulo tag?

I only use chrome :( but there are months that I've been talking about FF's hitbox issues on his fireballs and it still did not get fixed, I already made a video about those issues and send to Paulo on twitter but he haven't said nothing

But it will depend on the life lead.

Yeah, but you can react to the air skull and against the regular skull you can use EX flying kick.

Yeah, on the paper it looks good, but in a real match it's not that good to stop Flame Fist :p

Quan Chi can not punish Dragon's Fire's Dragon Kick on block.

Hey guys, how do you normally deal with really good jump ins with DF? I just played a scorpion who ji3ed almost every time it was his turn, and I felt like I had no options to contest with it. I have the same problems against kotal and Sonya jump ins as well, any help would be appreciated :)

Space him out with good walk speed and trip guard. You can low profile with d3 maybe if you time it right. You can use an armored move like bicycle kick. Or if you read a jump you can run forward and standing 1 into combo. All these things take some practice.

Scorpion's JI3, Sonya's JI1, Kotal's JI1, etc... they're very stupid!! If you go to the lab, you will anti-air them 100% of the times, but in a real match it is not like that... D2 is the best anti-air of Liu Kang, it is not a guaranteed anti-air, but it works well.
