Where are all the women at?

I feel like this question doesn't get asked enough. Why are no women playing this game? Or any competitive game for that matter? Yes, of course there are a few, but for the most part it's just men. Is it our fault? Is it the game companies' fault? Is there anything we can do to bring more women into competitive gaming? Maybe it's biological on some level and women just aren't very interested in competitive games, but if it is men's fault that there are no women in competitive gaming, we really owe it to them to fix whatever social issues there are keeping them from competing. That's half of the population we are keeping from enjoying something really amazing if we have anything to do with it. But, I don't want to jump to conclusions. I want to hear what some of you think are the reasons why no women are playing these great competitive games with us.

Probably just fighting games. My gf lifes vid games but when i tried to teach her mkx she could learn that. Or enjoy her time playing minecraft lol. Or even cod cause its easier to pick up and play

GF is the same.

Plays lots of different games (Dark Souls 3, recently), but lacks an interest in fighting games.

She watches fighting game streams, though.

I don't think violenece ,blood@gore, or even fighting games in general appeal to females. Would males be interested in lipstick(well some of you might,lol), skirts, or fashion? Obviously no.

Speaking of Birdsongs, I told her I managed to beat Kenshi with Jade for the first time in my life and she never replied. What happened to "her"?

There's a girl on Twitter who posts Mileena clips and she looks ridiculous. I forget the name it's like beast mileena or something? iunno but the shit she posts is nuts

Yeah was about to say something along these lines... No wonder why women aren't competitively play FGs... or any games for that matter.

Also, it's hard teaching your significant other MKX. Then I realize, "well, people like Johnny Cage exist, so play him and go nuts!"

For the life of me can't find the article, but essentially they did a survey and found out that female gamers find team-based competitive video games more enjoyable than 1v1 competitive video games.

I'm a lover, not a fighter
The online community is really off putting for MK for some reason - so many assholes. Maybe it is the violence etc which attracts nasty little 15 year olds or something. Other games dont suffer from it - SF and other FG communities are no where near as rude. I have known a few girls who were great at MK and were turned off fro the game pretty quickly online after constant abuse and misogyny. Not one of them plays any more
