Street Fighter V General Discussion

Genuine question - how much has SFV changed over the past couple of months or so?

I ask because while I liked the core gameplay, the lack of characters, content outside of online mode and just general overall package really, really turned me off. The random rollback problems didn't help lol.

I'm thinking of maybe possibly picking it up again if I can find it cheap, largely to tide over the wait for Injustice 2 and Tekken 7.

The silly alternative would be to re-buy the now dirt cheap USFIV and try and get good with that lol.
There's an actual story mode now, and 4 DLC characters have dropped, with 2 more coming soon. They're also developing a way to unlock colors more easily. The game's been evolving nicely too.

GGs @ProudDisciple i have never played that shitty in my life. To many accidental jumps while trying to do SB & FK. And when we switched to MKX I was missing combos ive done closing my eyes before.

I think @ILuvFightGames is right about the analog stick especially the PS4 one since it so small. I should learn arcade stick cause D-Pad for SF just feels awkward.

Or im just trash at fighting games.
Yea bro I started playing on the analog sticks on the control pad since it resembles a stick and I started playing SF and MK on arcade stick but I then found out that it's not the same, analog seems too weak, flimsy, jumpy, etc. so I started using the d-pad, turned out to be one of the best decisions I've made as a gamer honestly. D-pad is more accurate, fluid, and just feels solid. Again if you can invest a little time go with training in the d-pad, hopefully you can thank me later Lol.

A prop on the stage of life.
I cannot land laura's heavy kick jump in to start these challenge combos. Then stuff feels weird actually comboing off it when it does land. Like you you have to be so close to the person they might as well anti air you with a jab before hitting. It's literally booty butt cheeks man.

It's obviously all based on preference and how much time is invested in each but I agree on your comparison between analog and dpad.
I've personally gotten used to stick, playstation dpads and xbox dpads.

Alright, I still don't have the DLC so I can't lab anything and it's starting to annoy me lol. I just played against my first Ibuki and even though I ultimately lost the set (FT2) there's one thing I was super happy about and something I just need to know about.

The thing I was happy about was how I managed to close out this game lol. I didn't expect it to hit when I attempted the reaction CA but thankfully Ibuki's Kunai seems to have a good bit of recovery. It was risky trying it but I'm glad it worked out lmao

What I can't figure out... That god damn command dash. Like, there was a point where she dashed up and threw me and I couldn't react on time. Frustrating. Can anybody confirm if it's possible to stop Ibuki players doing that on reaction or is it something I have to be thinking about to counter? Also she has a move where she sort of hops and sticks both of her legs out to the side. What is that?

From the prima guide:

Kasumigake: Ibuki’s movement-oriented special move, Kasumigake is a grounded command dash when using LK or MK versions, and a longer-than-average jump when used with HK. Kasumigake can be canceled into from various hit-checks and target combos, or used on its own. Ken’s V-Skill running, not quite the deal breaker it appears to be. It’s not “safe” but if they’re not preemptively ready to react then Ibuki can still get away with command dash mix-ups, especially with a varied approach, and especially if a V-Trigger bomb is out with the fuse ticking, strongly encouraging the opponent not to do anything rash.

I've only played a few games vs a day two Ibuki so there wasn't much for me worry about since they were still figuring things out for themselves

It is bound to happen to us all.
As long as you learn something from it then it's all good.
I get stomped on all the time but come back a little bit better each time
Yeah thats true, I was just a bit emo lol. The bad side of playing battle lounge too much is forgetting you have a much shorter time to adapt.

The kick move is her forward HK. Better off just whiff punishing that or trying to force her into a position where it's not safe (it's unsafe on block).

The command dash is very weird to handle, especially in 8 frames of delay. It's really fast in general. I played an Ibuki that used it, and it was very hard to block after on reaction. It'll eventually turn into a pure gimmick, but right now it's too fast to actually react to off of canceled normals. Doesn't help that she moves so fast your normals will whiff the wrong way if you don't time them fast enough.

I hope I'm able to react to it in the future or have a way to deal with it because in my heart I honestly believe I should have won that set lol. Gotta get the DLC so I can learn what's punishable. Thanks to you and @ProudDisciple for the replies.

Normalize grab immunity.
Ibuki is decent then you play against a character like Chun-Li, Karin or Vega and you just feel sick. A barrage of 0 recovery pokes with no hurtbox in your face and then if your not pressing a button they'll just randomly dash across screen and start pressuring you.. What is this game?
That's just you not reacting my man. You got problems establishing a ground game and now that problem is highlighted. Especially against better neutral characters like those three. Do you think Ibuki beat chun in the footsie department in 4 or 3? You're just going to have to get better at getting, whiff punishing and such. I face the same problem when I play Mika against those characters. I think chun is the worst with that b+HP palm thing making her a wall of hitbox.

Either get better or switch characters. Hell pick up chun, Karin, or Vega.

See @Scott The Scot, just come here and learn the MU.

And I wish an Ibuki would dash up on me so I can that get free damage and start pressure.
