Street Fighter V General Discussion

Lol, people getting easily offended on internet these days LMAO.

I'm not implying anything at all, SFV is not SF4, everything is different, so i don't see this Ibuki as a SF4 and shouldn't even think about comparing one to another when both have different metas

All i'm saying, instead of making those comparisons this early, just wait and see, let them damn character breathe and stablish what her game is, no one knows shit about Ibuki yet, neither the people playing her, neither the people playing against her.
street fighter and other fighting games differ here. Whereas nrs games are all wildly different street fighter games/characters stay the same for pretty much ever. People have been doing the same Ibuki/Ryu/akuma/guy combos for 20 years. I think they're comparable seeing as how all of her specials are the same(except the ones she's lost) and all of her normals are the same. The game mechanics aren't drastically different either.

Nah I think I matches up with through luck of rank. And I'm too salty to play you. Gonna pack it up for tonight.

It always seems like I need to actually get punished to lnow what my opponent's options are. Even after the punish I'll be like "Duh he's used that move. Anyone would've!" Like I get so absorbed in my plan I'll forget to check theirs.
yeah I agree, sometimes when I'm having trouble learning how to deal with stuff I just copy it so my opponents will teach me how to shut it down.

Now that I think about it. Hasn't Ibuki always been a low health mixup character? Even in S3? And it's honestly no surprise that she has some crazy moves. That's capcom balance. Low health, maybe decent health, some kind of limiting factor = blind left/right resets as long as you got the resources. Akuma whole thing was he was extremely powerful. So capcom just made him die in one and a half combos. I personally don't like it that much. Like giving akuma all those options then balancing by saying "just don't get hit". But in other places it works like F.A.N.G. and Guile have less health as an excuse for good normals/zoning. Zangief has more health as an excuse for being dumb slow and risky mixups.

Getting bodied by Birdies and Zangiefs is starting to make me believe the Ibuki naysayers. You pull something off yet the person hasn't lost 1/3 of their health and they aren't in the corner... Ken and R.Mika are in this game

that is true, but Ibuki hasn't been in sf for ages, aside from SF3 SF4 and SF5 series, and in all her interactions she had drastical changes according to the game mechanics.
She is different in this game, but time will tell for sure, for better or worse.

I haven't but I'm not liking the other end of the spectrum where your trying to whiff punish pokes that have no hurtbox in 8f of lag. You have to dash, jump and be premptively buffering off normals constantly like an idiot and the payoff atm is a meaty off raida where she gets nothing off a grab and if you block she's pushed out of the effective range of her normals

3s and usf4 she had all the same moves and strings/cancels/sjcs etc though.. shes a lot more different in this one. in usf4 the meta was just different with knockdowns and such, so she played a bit differently thats it.

She can, but it's somewhat difficult as the reload animation is pretty long unless you just reload 1 at a time. Even then, you have to have some distance to reload safely.
Which is why I'm surprised people go for LP raida in combos instead of HP, which knocks back far enough for lengthty reloads vs most of the cast.

Also, I'm sure her stMK target combo can get at least one free kunai reload.

Because LP Raida gives better spacing for pressure and offense.

Also, Ibuki's neutral game definitely comes off as worse. It's not terrible by any means, but for sure, she misses spin kicks and hard knockdown outside of CC sweep. Plus her resource management is far higher and getting caught without them severely hampers her. In exchange, ground kunai, especially EX, is a blessing.

Yeah, I know. Just saying HP raida gives a lot of space if she needs kunai. Though there isn't any word on whether the reloads are actually as safe as I'm theorizing that I know of.

The more characters they add the more Ryu, Ken and Chun-Li seem to just not play by the rules. Chun-Li air legs serve the same purpose as Ibukis overhead yet it's plus, faster and leads to more damage :s

It's also harder to combo into hp raida. I don't know if it's the startup or the range, but it's definitely not as easy as lp raida. One of her best hit confirms is st. MP, st.LK~LP raida. HP raida doesn't work there.
