Street Fighter V General Discussion

gotta stay sharp!
I just played a Platinum Birdie in casual and he destroyed me with that banana.
Do you have a vid? Maybe some of it was you respecting it too much. Banana isnt an issue until it touches the floor. You can cc him anytime until the banana touches the floor. Maybe that helps? Lol

I hope you guys can answer this but I'm asking if this is a bad problem I'm new to fighting games and I have this problem on killer instinct so wonder if i put it on street fighter will it fuck up. Qcf mp instead pressing once I press twice so curious if it's bad habit or common I really wanna get into fighting games so I'm asking if I'm doing wrong

So you're doing the fireball motion and you press the medium punch twice?

God Confirm

We're all from Earthrealm. If not, cool pic brah.
Can anyone tell me about Dhalsim? I'm kinda torn between him and Vega

Normalize grab immunity.
Yeah perfect example I would just press the same button twice I'm new so I'm not sure it's bad or good or it's neither
If you're pressing it quickly I don't think it would matter but you should probably get to habit of pressing the attacks once. Probably would feel better in combos in SF.

GGs to @buyacushun that was probably the closest set we have had so far.
GGs when we both have meter that is probably the most dull and exciting match. Helped exposed some more shit I hope F.A.N.G. gets changed

I wouldn't do it. I mean as another member told you some pro's do it but I believe that's to plink maybe, you shouldn't do it every single time, why would you?
huh? plinking and double tapping are different.. theres double tapping hitting the button 2 times fast with 1 finger / drumming 2 inputs with 2 fingers almost like plinking except on the same button with the button having to neutral inbetween so like a fast gallop with index ; middle finger preferably.

plinking is entirely different.. plinking stands for priority linking and its not needed in sfv due to links being 100 frames (jk) but really.

how you plink is say you want a 1 frame crMP link or w/e such as eryu axe kick bnb in usf4. you tap medium punch and light punch almost at the same time (with medium being ever so slightly before) basically hitting 2 buttons but 1 finger would be on a slightly lower pivet rather then hittin 2 buttons exactly the same time. You used to be able to plink a lp meaty with stand tech (throw) for OS if you mistimed the meaty, but they took it out a while ago along with some other OS's

also you can do like a quad type input plink for ex; sakura heavypunch L tatsu loops by plinking HPMPLP

so the input would look like this on your screen
HP
HPMP
LP

Then of course there's like piano'n etc etc for chun legs in usf4 and some other things, but you don't really need to learn any of these in sfv. double tapping isnt too bad of a habbit. i know for sure daigo has always drummed every input (even fireballs lol)

I wasn't sure if that's what OP was referring to that's why I said "maybe"? Also what advantage would double tapping the same button have?

What event is this?

its nothing major but 2 inputs for some ppl are better than 1 i suppose lol. like fireballing on the first frame you're allowed to or staggering etc incase you miss the first frame or something get another input in lol.

Yea I guess it may make them feel more assured Lol?

It's not bad in fact double tapping is a common technique with high level players. Just don't press them slow.
I press them fast just thought I ask cause I still know the character motion and input and figure double tap would get me called mashing but guess not since I know what I'm doing I'm just double tapping it

it's just a habit from older fighting games that had strict timing etc.. like i use double tappin in some games, games like 3S and stuff its pretty good to double tap for the reason of the input being really strict. like say you did | \ P --

you're gonna get a punch not a fireball so basically double tappin in that situation when hammerin them out at close range on the frame or something, double tappin can kind cover your mistake of the punch input slightly before your motion completed etc you know what i mean? so you can get like | \ P- P and it'll fireball instead of jab since the input still recognized after the completed motion timing

I very much doubt you are. Double tapping has a very particular technique, it's not just hitting a button twice. The idea is to get the inputs exactly 2 frames apart to make 2 frame links easier (and plinking is a different technique designed to make 1 frame links easier), and you do it by dragging your fingers one after the other off the edge of the button very quickly. If you want to know what this looks like, see VesperArcade's SF4 execution tutorials.

Due to the buffer in SFV, these techniques are no longer necessary to execute tight combos. Only hitting the button once will make it easier to diagnose execution problems in training mode when looking at the input display.
