I love playing Raiden from time to time, but hit Back 2 overhead has AWFUL recovery time. I hate it so much!
You mean on block? If it hits it is the best combo starter Raiden has. It is negative infinity on block so you either go all in or special cancel it to like df2 to keep yourself safe.

Don't diss the jazz hands bro. Sure it's -2 billion on block and whiff as Shawnzzy said, but getting 40% no meter in the corner and nigh-50% for a bar is a pretty good tradeoff.

Shout out to @Lil Majin for taking Raiden out of pools at FR and shout out to @Nivek for keeping the dream alive at Viennality. He just made top 8. RAIDEN IS BACK BABY!
Thanks man Displacer is the truth and congrats to @Nivek getting top 8 with the Thunder God! Win that thing!

I also don't think Raiden is a bad character. He just requires a lot of execution, matchup knowledge, and countless hard reads to be effective. He is an honest character in an un-honest game.

You can turn displacer raiden into a pressure char. I like displacer now. Displacer players should never take the risk of b2, just do b2 tele or b2 shocker.

Doing Raiden's b14>run cancel, I've noticed many members say it's better to hit with the b14 while the opponent is still high in the air, but if I try to do it very fast the 4 whiffs all the time, I kinda have to let the opponent fall a little to get the b14 to connect otherwise as stated I'll connect with the back 1 but the 4 whiffs. Am I doing something wrong? For example after an ex electrocute should I donthe b14 immediately or does everyone let the opponent drop a little before doing it?

Doing B14 as high as possible also means that B14 has to fully connect, otherwise you won't get a combo of course. The idea behind it is that if you hit B14 as high as possible (where the 4 does still connect) you have more hit advantage, thus making the combo easier to perform.

After an EX-shocker, you do have to wait a little bit before you do B14. Otherwise the 4 will whiff.

Thanks bro, I understand now. One more thing, lately the lighting cancel doesn't come out consistently after the b14 connects, like the b14 will connect but instead of doing the Lightning motion so I can cancel it'll just stop there leaving Raiden in neutral, now I suck at MKX but I remember I used to be able to pull the lighting motion 100 out of 100 times, and all of a sudden I get it 50% of the time I don't know why? I mean I start the fireball motion immediately after I press the 1 so the motion is being done at the same time as I'm hitting the 4, that's how it's done right? What happened to me Lol?

HELP ANYONE!

What are you supposed to be doing in the nuetral with Displacer?

He's actually kinda fun, vortex seems easy too.
What should I go for if I don't want to commit to the unsafe 50/50s on b14 restand?

You could try F1,2 staggers although beware of low profile. You also have F4 as a low crush, which is probably the best low crush in the game. I sometimes wakeup with F4 if someone is just spamming pokes.

I've also seen some Displacers use F2, 2+4 I think and cancel into teleport.

Thanks/what should you be going for before hitting your opponent with a combo?

projectile slow so you cant really zone to force your opponent to make mistakes, crouching pokes arent that great, frame advantage wise...

Well Raiden's D3 is pretty good. It feels similar to Kenshi's D3 but with more range. But yeah Midscreen to Fullscreen tends to be where Raiden suffers. I've heard of some Displacers who cancel blockstrings into teleport away and then just follow up with F4 to try to catch the opponent by surprise. F4 has plus block adv I believe, So I guess just do something like a F2,1,B2 if they block it or F3, 2+4? Try that in the lab as one big blockstring to see if it can be effective.

d3 is only plus 6 on hit, doesn't really guarantee much.

I play displacer on and off but after d3 connects, i've found the best string for pressure B1, 1 into either shocker or teleport away if its blocked. If it connects I finish the string if I don't have meter or ex shocker, NJP and I believe F2, 2+4 followed by F1, 2, B2 superman. I see a lot of players online try and go for the F1 followed by d3 only to get low profiled, poked or uppercut into the next dimension. @WakeUp DP
