Be thankful that the game got fixed after 3 months? What are you smoking, man, I would have been thankful if the game launched without issues... but it didn't. How could you be "thankful" to a company? Wow, this sheep mentality irritates me almost more than NRS, I just can't stand stupidity sometimes. It's like if you'd have an abusive father and you were happy when he doesn't beat you for one day: nope, he's still an asshole.
Not getting XL/KP2 definitely screwed me over as a PC exclusive player and also a tournament player. It's not possible to practice for tournaments with the old patch: old frame data, zero match up experience against the new characters etc. I believe there are many people who have already invested a lot of time in the game on PC, but can not continue playing it seriously without spending a lot of money on a console.
Man, you are basically thankful for WB trying to implement very bad practices in gaming market (as if we don't have enough of them already!). Plus you sound like a hypocrite - you might not play MK competitively yourself but oh, fk all those who do, and who have PC only because they happened to be born in countries where console gaming is considered luxury they can't effort.
It hurt so much for me because as a kid I would rent MK4 for my nintendo 64 and I didn't know how to play it at all but I still had fun playing as Raiden all while getting my bum handed to me by CPU (FIrst time I saw a fatality I was amazed and shocked and it was Fujin's fatality with the wind ripping your skin from your body). I got MK9 a while after release because I saved a bit of money. So when I was able to preorder MKX for my PC I was so psyched for it and now I'm so sore.
You grew up with MK and I didn't so it would be a lie to say I know how you're feeling. My friend showed me mk9 when I was too young to buy it in stores so I had to buy it off kijiji. Although I grew up casually with soul calibur and street fighter games, mk9 was the first I took super seriously. I poured hours into perfecting 80% cyrax resets and kabal ndc combos, all for basically nothing as I couldn't find anyone who was as serious as me to play with, but I was content with lurking tym as well as following the tourney scene.
What a stupid argument is that? Gaming industry is not necessary for living! Let's completely abandon it and give all leftovers to 3rd world countries. Your TV, your radio, your car, your everything you have is not a necessity to living. You can live without a roof over your head, too. Many people do and they are fine! Let's all move to a beautiful life under the cloud.
Look, here's one thing to realize: the "video games are not important" statement is not an argument, it's a fact I think we all agree with here. The question is really about how far you can go in defending your principles: if you really think that the principle you believe in is important then you get angry even if it gets squished on a level that is ultimately not important for your quality of life. So yep, depending on the culture you're in it is totally understandable to fight against a decision like this based on principle.
Absolutely! During that 3 months I could not play the game at an acceptable level its price got lowered by quite a bit on specific stores so I lost money + the time I spent on trying to fix the memory leak issue on my end. Let's say that time is money so I lost a hypothetical amount of it + the difference in price ~ I lost around 25 euros while I "made back" around 10 by waiting it out on the Kombat Pack ~ I lost approximately 15 euros. That's enough for a lot of food in Africa for example if instead of buying a video game 3 months earlier I'd gave that amount for charity.
Also Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection (3 months ago) ... which has been removed from steam store (prolly course Microsoft abandoned GfWL) I don't recall when. It's still playable though, so thank you Microsoft for not fucking over those of us who bought it on PC.
