Does He/She Need It?

Does kenshi need loads of useless, unsafe and unstaggerable extensions to his strings?

Does kenjutsu need 3 overheads given to the variation? In which one of them is not only the slowest, has the worst range, isn't cancellable and is -18? sorry it low crushes my bad guys.

And I don't care whether your low tier or high, NOONE needs a jump in punch that has a magnet stuck on the end of their fist (I'M LOOKING AT YOU MAINLY SUB ZERO) and even mileena is a culprit too. I play sub zero and even I don't agree whatsoever with this atrocity.

Does quan chi have to be so mediocre and yet so absolutely broken at the same time with no dynamic in between? Thus amplifying the salt. Does he have to sound like neo cortex from crash bandicoot?

Does erron black need command grabs out of all of his effective strings whilst I'm sitting here not tick throwing whatsoever with COMMANDO KANO?

Does kitana need to be so safe or slightly plus?

Do I have to accept that I won't play alot of characters because I can't afford kombat packs and extra costumes just like that?

and for the love of all that is holy

Why isn't dlc playable in practice, I can't practice and get better against tanya or predator or tremors gimmicks, if it was playable in practice, people would be more inclined to buy single characters or packs because they know what they're getting which will probably help sales and people like me aren't alienated and can have some honest practice against them. More so KP2 coming out. WHY ISN'T DLC PLAYABLE IN PRACTICE

Cmon dude, that 50/50 reversal shit is an absolute gimmick, especially since the point of the character is her Rekkas and that this is far more risky than what it's worth. And there is no way she has the best mobility. Subs Slide+back dashes beat her, Laos run+divekicks +TP beat her, she's undeniably got good mobility with TP+F2 but this is a game with Reptile and Kitana in it, if I wanted mobility I'd look to some of these characters. Lao can open up his opponents much easier because he has one of the best D4s in the game which spaces an F2 and B22 perfectly, his footsies are insane and you can't just let his pokes go uncontested all day because he gets so much pressure off them, his grab mix-ups really help with this as well. Tanyas combo starter is a low, meaning there is none of this, you just block loses her all day and second hit OH. "Her mix-up is safe if guessed right" guess what, every 50/50 in the game is safe if guessed right, mans they actually turn into a combo, Tanyas just gives +frames for more pressure.

There is no way in hell this character is top 5 IMO
She's not. She blows up impatience and button mashers, which coincidently are the players who feel she is "broke". Same with the kangaroos that hate Royal Storm.

She has solid pressure UP UNTIL the rekkas. The second the player see's the first rekka they just have to sit tight and will either get to punish or reapply pressure.

Her telecancels are BARELY plus. People are acting like they are +24.

When I play good players like Gunshow, they know exactly how to block and how to deal with her smoke and mirrors pressure. I just stop at B1 2+4 (-4) or the first rekka (-7). If you start delaying the rekka they can literally down poke or armor. She is all about psuedo staggers with the B3 and LITERALLY negative frame pressure.

She is good and viable...but "broke" and "top 5"...lol please.

Throws.

B2 is a combo starter and is OH. It isnt a 50/50, but she does have OH starters.
B2 is high, high, and then overhead. I demand you stop.

Kano is a character with tools with little room for error imo. You have to have perfect spacing, neutral and know when to press your offense or back off. His knives are really good but like you've already said, because of their damage you can't just throw them out willy nilly else you'll get punished for more than like 10 of those knives lol.

He is quite downplayed though imo, Cyber is a solid character and his other variations cover bad MUs really well. He's just a fair character with simple options that requires fundamentals in a game full of crazy, overwhelming offense.
He's really not downplayed, people that know how to deal with him properly know that, he's upplayed if anything. This is coming from the guy who's been ridiculed in the Kano community for being the Kano UPPLAYER. I hear stuff like "he has the best projectile in the game" LOL. You've also just contradicted yourself, you note that you have to play perfectly to win with him and that he's fair in a game of crazy offence (which tends to show a character is not as good as the others that do have crazy offence) but say he's downplayed at the same time... Better characters tend to not require so much effort.

DLC that where released had a tower dedicated to them for about a week in which people could try them out for free. You can also ask a friend who has the dlc to go into online practice with you and give you control of said character. Another option is to have a friend that you trust and game share their profile to get all the dlc. There are free options man.

Firstly, I never said he has the best projectile in the game and it's pretty obvious he doesn't. He does have a perfect kit for space control though. I'm not saying he's some kind of god tier character, he's a solid mid to upper mid tier character that is fair and requires good fundamentals. I also don't understand how I contradicted myself here, I said he was solid, fair, but out of place character in a game like this.

Also that last point about better characters not requiring a lot of effort is complete ballshit. Kabal says hi.

I didn't say you said that, I'm just saying that's the kind of thing I hear. "Perfect kit" is a bit of an overstatement, his space control tools are good but not good enough to warrant him being underrated. He's just mid tier, upper mid is more for characters like Kitana with better damage and better zoning tools or even overheads lol. I just explained why you contradicted yourself, you said he requires you to play perfectly to win and that he's fair in a game of stupid crazy offence (therefore implying that his tools by themselves are not as good as other characters' because you have to play perfectly with him where the opponent doesn't have to) but you say he's underrated which would imply he has better tools than most realise even though most recognise he's mid tier.

I said they tend to require more effort, I didn't say they all definitely did require more effort. Calm down...
Aaaaand cue the next fucking argument.
It's only an argument if there's name-calling...bitch :DOGE

I agree, didn't mean for it to be taken literally. His toolset is great for space control and neutral though and I do still think he's a bit underrated.

Cyber Kano has great corner damage, decent stagger string pressure and a plus on block projectile. Like I said, he's nothing special but I believe him to be a solid upper mid anyway.

What I meant was he requires a perfect neutral to win. I know he's not as good as the top tiers, they usually have braindead stuff you can throw out in the neutral without consequence. Kano just requires good reads and good neutral else he's gonna get blown up for it. Braindead and effective are not the same thing.

Does this game really need so many retarded special moves and variations? I'd rather have a balanced game than a stupid one personally.

If you have to play 100% perfect error free just to compete in a match, then it is likely that the character isn't as good as others. His knives are good in some MUs, but situational in others. You aren't throwing knives against HQT, which makes the MU very very ugly. When people truly know the MU most know they can just take minimal chip walking in and then impose their offense, or outzone his weak zoning depending on the character. Simply not jumping is half the battle alone.

Highly disagree that he's downplayed. I've always said he is Upplayed because Cyber is the Ultimate scrub killer. To some he can appear Top 10 variation level, but once you know the MU he's mid tier at best, possibly lower. You said, "He's just a fair character with simple options that requires fundamentals in a game full of crazy, overwhelming offense." I agree 100%, which is why he isn't that good. You can't be a fair character in an unfair game. Cyber is basically a character with near godlike space control and footsies, with no pressure, no Mixups, no overall reward for his zoning (like Kitana, Shinnok, HQT, Liu, etc), no damage from his zoning, in a game where other "mid tier" characters can kill you in two wrong guesses. The best part of Cyber is how enjoyable he is to play, how you know you're winning based off of your skill of the game, but power-wise I don't see it when I look at other characters in the game and compare them to him.

Ok well why do you think he's underrated? What does he have that gives him an advantage over other characters in the game? His neutral is good but counting only on that relies on the opponent making a mistake and most of the time that's not good enough in this game. It's much harder to open a good player up with him considering his lack of mixups.

Everybody has great corner damage, that's generally irrelevant. He does have good staggers though. His plus on block projectile is also overrated as he's spending a bar, which means losing defensive options and the ability to compete in damage most of the time, to do just over what half the projectiles in the game do on block meterlessly and not even guarantee a followup. I respect you have a different opinion but take it from someone that's played him since launch, if he were as good as you were making him out to be we'd see a lot more of him and his matchups would look better than mostly even, some losing and one or two winning. He used to be upper mid, then a bunch of character got buffs and that sent him down the tier list a bit. He sits at mid tier just now which isn't bad but isn't great.

But if someone is braindead it means their simple gameplan is effective, while the terms may not be the same thing braindead characters are effective which is why they're called braindead lol. I agree, you have to play on point with Kano to win, because his tools aren't as good as the higher characters which is why he's not considered as good as more effective, more braindead characters.

Stagger B3
The point of staggering is to get a counter hit and trying for b3 off my no plus frames isn't a good idea. Even off something like f2 tele cancel which is her best cancel I can't go into back 3 because the teleport is bugged and I'll just get away teleport (top 5 boyz)

Works great online though

@Youphemism @SaltShaker I basically agree with what you've both said. I know he's not as good as the top tiers or in the top 10. He's somewhere between mid and upper mid imo. While his reward isn't as great as some of the top tiers he's a very low risk variation with good space control, good defensive options and "meh" offense. I don't believe that offense is just an autowin in this game, you have to work harder on defense sure, but just because it's harder doesn't mean it can't be just as good as an offensive playstyle and Kano has a pretty good defensive toolkit.

If he had some form of good (in MKX terms) offense like his old B1 or his ExKnives were more plus or something else cheap he'd probably be a top tier, but unfortunately he doesn't.
