I know I'm taking about the ex teleport as a move in general. Your set up is nice though
Yeah ex Tele is kinda useless only thing I've been able to do with it is like run up after a knockdown and mb Tele to absorb their wakeup and catch them but it's risky if it's not perfect timing

I do that to its hella risky.. wish it had armor when he comes out the ground and have it track the opponent when delayed that's the only buff I'll give him.

Also when cassie does MB target lock in special ops she still hits lao out of delayed ex teleport like she literally hits him out of the ground...

Lol yes makes no sense played a cassie and it got to the nitty gritty final round of the match both of us had less than 15% left. Cassie went for MB target lock I was prepared so I went ex teleport and delayed it so I can stay underground. I ended up losing because of this.

I'm not sure if this has been answered before.

How do you connect 44 after the hat spin? So far it seems to be random when it will connect, I've tried timing it with specific moments of the animation or with the hit sound (even with the opponent grunt) and I can't find a way to make it consistent. Even harder than Kenjutsu Kenshi rising sword.

Is there a way to connect it consistently or should I put it in the pile of "don't use during a competitive match or you will drop the combo" moves?

I learned that timing by watching Laos torso or heel. Lao jerks his body after hat spin and kicks his heel use these as indications.

Thanks for the advice bu not working for me :S same as all others "press in this part of the animation" tricks I've tried so far.

Is this working for you in a way that you can say you're landing it at least 95% of the time? If not then I think I'm not including it in my repertoire, but if there is really a way to time it well I guess I gotta keep trying.

I just want to be sure because I don't feel like using a combo that will lead to a blocked string and lost opportunity most times.

That's it there is no short cut to it. Find what works for you. What I told you was how I learned the timing didn't say it was guaranteed to hit 100% of the time.

It's a 2 frame link ppl land 1 frame links in street fighter so its up to you if your willing to put up the time and effort to get it down , I myself don't feel it's worth dropping a combo over it

Another thing is that after he does the hat spin, there is like a blue ring that circles his body once the hat connects. You have to time it with that. That is what I was told. I still can't get it every time, but I'm getting better at it.

I personally use the sound as a cue when practicing. The sound of the 4,4 connecting happens right after the pling from the hat spin finishes. You just have to get into the rhythm just like you would playing music. Button timing might vary from setup to setup due to lag, so I think it is better to try and get it ingrained into muscle memory rather than look for a visual cue, but that's just me. I could never get it right by doing it visually.

soooo...

Looks like mid-screen 11212xexhat, b321 is guaranteed, you cant do 11212 shenanigans anymore tho. Any thoughts on how to condition better the opponent?

RIP Smoke
FFS I'm so bad with Lao. He just doesn't click with me, but I'm determined to improve.

I never really know what tools I should be taking advantage of in given situations, or what I can and can't get away with.

Off a blocked jip into B321 should I not end with hs if I'm not gonna meter burn it? Otherwise they could armor through.

When should I be using d3 vs d4?

Is f2 a viable anti air or just stick with mb spin?

When mid screen and I throw out hs, what are my best pressure options from there?

I very seldomly use tele since it gets blown up every time, so what are the best scenarios to use it, if ever?

11212 (4) - I never find myself in position to use this string. It's a high with very short range, but the hit confirm is pretty easy so I'd like to be able to take more advantage of it.

I whiff cross over punches like nobody's business, do you use 1 or 2?

Finally, can I trust Lao's in game frame data on start ups and block advantage?

Thanks for any help, can't seem to find a real break down guide.

Edit: Well, did a little more labbing and messing around in matches and it's really startin to come together. Getting those j(b/f)2 air to air conversions and 11212(4) pressure going, as well as utilizing d4 better. Still unsure of the best options for when I've got hat spin out.

Edit 2: Welp, it's been a massive improvement in the last couple days . Looks like I've got a new main

Thanks bud.

Question, is conditioning your opponent a big part of Laos game? If so, what are you guys doing?
yes, it is the main part of Lao game. you have to condition them with stagger pressure like 11s or b3s, use throw a lot, and take advantage of his d4 and lock down your opponent with orbiting hat pressure

just mix up 11, 112124, b3, b321, throw eventually

f2 and b2 are good footsies. f2 is an 11f mid to check, and b2 is good OH to open up, just cancel them into hat spin and you'll be -3 only. use d4 a lot and pressure the opponents wake up with 112124

I'm assuming your canceling these mix-ups with mb hat spin? "excluding the throw"
you either do full 112124 cancelled into orbiting hat, or stagger 11s b3s into throw or another full string to catch them pressing buttons.

you can check with d4 after 11212 (without 4 at the end), just make sure you are plus or slightly minus at the end.

but if you go for 112124 you need to cancel into orbiting hat or at least regular hat cause you cant press buttons after that. Same thing goes for b321

i.e.: 1) you pressure you're opponents wake up with 112124xxExhat (+12) / you then go for 11 (+1) stagger into throw
2) you do 11s stagger on onpponents wake up / you can either throw, go full 112124xxExhat or normal hat, or stagger a b3 into throw, d4 (low) etc etc.

as you see you have multiple option and the opponents guessing game becomes insane especially in the croner :D

just watch F0xy at SCR since you can really see all of the above

Thanks monkey, I just recently picked up Lao and had trouble with footsies in the neutral. I really appreciate the info, you've been really helpful.

anytime sir :)

d4, b2. f2 and hat spin are his best tool in neutral, apart from the risky ones like Dive Kick and Teleport
