Online is pointless for me. I'm a new player getting into the competitive side and online is the devil. Took me a few weeks to finally stay offline but I will say since I've just trained offline I've been leveling up pretty well. I've been knocked out in LF and I think I just got bumped out in 8th in my last two locals. Before that I was just getting bodied.

For new players, I think online is pointless at the beginning. These very good "online warriors" are probably really good offline as well. I see the ESL being used as an example but once the big money was on the line it was played offline, I'm just saying haha.

Not useless at all

IT really depends on how good YOU AND YOUR OPPONENTS INTERNET CONNECTION IS.

I actually have a lot of lag free games

So yes I find it useful

PS: I HAVE A ETHERNET CONNECTED FROM MODEM TO PS4

Anyone stating they have lag free online MKx battles, are you playing in america? Most of the time I see someone say they play just fine online they either never go offline or are from EU or somewhere else with better infrastructure.

WiFi isn't the main source of bad online connections. Whatever NRS does for "improved netkode" is.

@JerzeyReign, That's actually a good point.

Well there is no region lock @xbox and computer-Plenty of games will lagg, if your enemy lives far away :>.

I´m from europe and play on ps4. I almost have no lag problems at all.

MY point was any time I hear someone saying they play just fine on MKx they usually end up being EU. My guess is EU's infrastructure allows better netplay on MKx. Do you play offline a lot too? Do you play any other fighters online? If so how would you compare that online to MKx?

Well i played a little bit street fighter and tekken aswell, but nothing serious though. I can´t compare them to MKX i guess, because almost no one plays street fighter here (i kinda have to search 10 minutes for one ranked game). Also i don´t like tekken at all, i just played it when ive been drunk :D

There aren´t many european tournaments in my region and I don´t have time to travel far (2 children etc.). I just go to offline events, where i don´t have to travel all day.

I played a lot MK9 offline, MKX i´ve just been at one offline tournament so far.

I always thought connection in the US is awesome (googlefiber :D. Maybe it´s just in some cities :>

Thanks for answering. Sucks SF isn't big enough to even get online matches where you are. But you should definitely try tekken again and learn to love it. and I'm not telling you that because I love tekken and want everyone to play it . . .:DOGE

Anyways the point was I don't think MKx at it's best comes anywhere close to other games at 50%. As for playing offline, it's possible that you just got used to the timing used for online.

Whatever though doesn't matter. If you or anyone are enjoying their online time then by all means keep playing. As for me I don't if I'll stick to this when other games come out.

Well i´d play locals every week too when i could :D.

I just played USF4 on PS4 though, maybe USF4 on PS3 was better. I almost played mk9 only on my ps3 :D (i actually sold it as soon as i stopped playing mk9 :D)

I loved Tekken 3, but they kinda destroyed my favorite character (Yoshimitsu). Also there are too many characters (like in street fighter). I wanted to try out tekken 7 anyways, so maybe i´ll have some fun there :D.

I also loved Soul Calibur in the early days (till Soul Calibur 3) and i´m still waiting for a new Bloody Roar ( won´t happen :( )

This concept of this thread is kind of funny.

Is playing online pointless? It's a video game. It's a pointless endeavor to start with. The only real point of it is to have fun. If you have fun playing online, then that's the point. If you don't have fun playing online, then yes, playing online is pointless.

So doing something you enjoy to have fun is now pointless?
