RIP Ex Smash
My online experience has been fine, I just play with my friends(better than 95% of TYM) and other green bars and everything works out fine. Of course there are times when I drop combos online but I usually adjust within a round or so.

Playing Gears of War, MK9, and Injustice online will make any netcode feel fine.

MKX online in a nutshell:
D3 D3 D3 D3 D3 D3 D3 D3 D3 D3 D3
Round 2
D3 D3 D3 D3 D3 D3 D3 JP D4 D3 D3 D3 D3 D3

Then you get teabagged and fatality'd.
It's horrible, everybody jumps like crazy and I can't count the number of times i've been block infinite'd by Scorpion's JI3 into D3. Uppercut spam is insane too. It's hilarious how they can get away with throwing out an uppercut willy nilly but when I try to use it to anti air I get blown up..

I try to only play people with good connections, so mostly people I've met on TYM. Generally I don't notice the lag in those situations. I've been able to land Jax's corner combos, Kano's tick throws, etc, so it's not that bad for me.

That said, reacting to Inferno's Demons and trying to play the counter poke game is hard, but I believe that a lot of the delay is actually due to my slow reactions. I'm still at the point in my development where I'm figuring out how to defend and counter poke effectively. Until I'm a the stage whete I know I'm reacting in time to what I see and I'm still getting blown up, I'm happy to take the majority of the responsibility for my losses.

Ranked, on the other hand...

It's pretty depressing when you go from having 3 straight games with good connections into countless of just shit games where the lag is so bad your opponent and you can't even pull off half of a basic bnb.

I really hope they introduce a way where the ping shower is accurate, shows if they're wired or not, and you can choose to not play half assed connections.

STB Sgt Reed

Online Warrior
It's playable.

I play all members (minus the ps4 guys) of STB almost daily and the only one's I ever lag with are Dink and Immortal Kombat. Both from the west coast... but even those matches are playable and no one is winning b/c of multi D3s or D2 mashing.

You guys problems are either:

1. Your own internet and/or connection type (like wireless)
or
2. You're just playing ranked in which you'll find the worst opponents possible to play. Gotta be a little more selective :p

Even when you live around one the best scenes in the country I find some of the varations are not covered. There are 87 of them after all. So, online... Eww.

And im from europe and its deffenitly not this horrible unplayable experience that everyone has.
Just play with the ppl from your friendlist or find ppl on tym to play with. If u rather want to fight inferno scoprions etc in ranked, go ahead but i know what to do lol

To be fair the first paragraph isnt an online problem. The ONLY way you are going to get anything from online is to play a long set against a good player and then go STRAIGHT to practice mode to sift through what would work offline and what wouldn't. You should know what you can/can't punish and if you don't that is 100% on you for not putting in the proper prep time.
Problem with that is most online warriors aren't involved with the community on that level. So they aren't likely to get long-sets with anyone of that level. Especially against lesser played variations. Warlock Quan / Lasher Takeda etc. Also if someone who mains a character (and is good) in the average long set NEVER punished something. The average O.W. wouldn't think its punishable if someone who breathes the character couldn't do it. Sure its partially on the player for not putting in the prep time. However it is still a notable difference between off and online. That's all I'm stating.

That and most O.W.s trying to gain MU experience will end up fighting a good player for a game. And once they win, the opponent quits.

I enjoy online and now have a wired connection that makes the vast majority of my matches virtually lag free.

One thing I will say, however, is that I am such an online warrior that I actually had trouble landing my BNBs in an offline setting on Friday night. In my apartment, I play on a 60 inch flat screen TV and at the venue they had Asus screens. I didn't realize that even when I play offline on my 60 inch TV, there is more delay than there is on an Asus, such that you have to input all your combos earlier. Because I am so accustomed to inputting the combos earlier, they wouldn't come out consistently on the Asus.

And here I was thinking I am a baller with my big ass TV

Agreed and prob the main reason why I stopped playing MKX. Online is just unbearable for me and now I have to think twice before buying another NRS game. How is it that a fighting game at this day and age have such poor online functionality.

MKF30

Fujin and Ermac for MK 11
I play MKX online a few days a week, I just can't get into it AS much as MK 9. Something special about that game that his game lacks, I dont know what it is(aside from zoning lol) If Fujin or Sektor wind up getting in, I will perhaps change my tune but til then...

Still, will always support MK I just prefer to play all of them and not just the latest. The online issue as with any fighter, will never be as smooth as offline but it can still be fun.

It's actually possible to play online matches without lag.

Just make sure you are not downloading, watching Netflix and playing MKX at the same time.
I used to stream a lot of EA Sports UFC. I would have OBS open, Spotify, youtube, and always had at least one person watching Netflix on my wifi. I would never lag on Madden, Smite, Killer Instinct, etc under the same circumstances.

I just checked my speeds. Here's the result - http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/4607386500.

Since playing Mortal Kombat X I've switched to a wired connection, and I always make sure I don't have much open. When the game first came out my friend who I was playing with the most worked for Charter and had better internet than me, yet we always lagged, despite us never lagging vs each other on UFC or Madden.

My point is that it's definitely the game a lot of the time. Will you run into people who have bad internet online, causing it to get really bad? Yes, but no matter what you've done to insure that you won't lag, you will lag, a lot.

If the netcode is really unplayable then why are the top pros still taking all the ESL money?
The fact that they're doing ESL is almost a sad joke. So much money on the line in an environment that is so horrible.

Top pros can take it because they're still top pros. It doesn't mean the netcode isn't total shit. Have you ever actually watched ESL? It's often embarrassing. I honestly feel bad for the commentators, who constantly have to find a new way to say wow, I can't believe he dropped that combo, he really needed that! when its some simple shit that you'd never drop offline. But in ESL drops and missed inputs are seen all the time.
