I think so too. I fought the good fight man, I really did, but I think one Brutality too many has done me in. The bs in this game is too real, and the character is simply underpowered. I almost pulled the wire out of my fightstick last week at a local. Tired of everyone and their grandma who doesn't use the character up play him. Tired of an "honest solid" character in a game filled with dirty filthy savages. So many characters have so much dirt and power and setups and mixups and everything, while KANO is just the "super solid character with no dirt, use footsie that lead to nothing". Doesn't cut it when you're fighting the cast unless you play against Goro and Takeda every day. After Tanya's nerfs I don't really even enjoy playing other characters as much as Kano, but hate the uphill feeling when playing high level players. I hate having to use HQT Predator, a character of no interest to me, to compete with the really good players when I enjoy playing Kano the most.

To top it all off Tekken 7 is right down the block from my job where I've been at almost every day for a couple of weeks. Unless there is a patch with real buffs to Kano I think this will be me shortest MK/NRS game since the PS2. I'll be here, in spirit, until the buffs. If no buffs then I'll just have to spectate now.

Carry the torch where I could not Kano main's. It is in your hands now.

I play Johnny and Kano mostly (picking up Sun God Kotal Kahn due to how bad I am with Commando's grabs), and I just hate when non-Johnny players up play him insanely. I saw someone putting him on a A+ tier, and anyone who has ever played Johnny will know the struggle that the character is facing in a lot of matchups. The same goes for Kano. Kano is a good character, he honestly is, he's probably the best design along with Sonya Blade - but unfortunately the game is filled with characters who just have a bigger, tastier and reliable menu.

One of the few perks Kano have is his dash. I embraced his dash for the footsie game and whiff punishing, but when you fight Shinnok it's just lame. He has a better dash with an INSANE recovery. Kano thrives on fundamentals, and sadly, even when these are mastered, you're better off playing Shinnok or some shit. Kano can definitely win - even competitively - it just takes soooo much effort and a lot of matchups are hard.

I also don't understand why they have decided to make him so meter dependent - He's not your blockpressure fighter who can easily build meter. Most of Kano's strings leave him safe on block or neutral, with a few providing advantage to win pokes - some might mention cybernetic knives building meter, but knives don't win you the game. A lot of the neat features of Kano cost meter which is sad really, because I really like his design - every variation provides a new character, giving Kano an edge in a certain area. CMD makes him a grappler (sort of), Cutthroat gives us those 50/50 mix ups with potentially insane damage and Cybernetic gives Kano some proper space control.

Kano just feels like the only honest character in a game where everyone has 50/50's with standing resets and tons of plus frames leading into stupid vortexes. It's fine that people like Quan Chi have a vortex due to how bad his wake up game is, but some of this stuff is just outright stupid. I hate the downplaying of Shinnok, a guy who is top tier in litteraly everything.

Yup. That's what did me in. I don't want to play the game Kano's style, but I can't fight against how the game is supposed to be played. That's why all those characters are better, because they play MKX the way it supposed to be played and are equipped to do so. Kano doesn't, isn't, and that's what I loved about him the most, but it's clear as day when you compare him to other cast members that he falls short. He's be an amazing character in a different game. All the greatest Footsies in the world can make you look like a technical mind reading master, until Raiden lands one hit, Superman's you to the corner, and forces you to flip a coin for your life. I can't anymore lol.

I don't want the character to be as stupid as some Top Tiers, not at all, I just want him to be stronger for the amount of work required. Like Zod took a lot of work but it paid off (not that high just an example). At least let his strong read based footsie playstyle lead to big rewards. Bigger rewards than chars who D3 you once and then force you into a guess for 40%. Other than Goro, Jacqui, and Takeda, every character is said to be mid tier and up. How would that even make sense? Game isn't nearly as balanced as people think it is. I feel like I snapped. Like the Joker. Having rounds where you fight masterfully, technically, amazingly, just to get poked and guess wrong twice into death. I put in a Godly amount of Injustice games, but unless something changes, I gotta stop while I have my mental health and root on my fellow Kano main's going forward.

The meter dependence is what needs to change more than anything. Make db1 launch and ex give it armor in cutthroat; make grenade launches meterless in cyber; give commando .... A lot.

I think I've realised something, since Kano in his variations that aren't Cutthroat lacks meterless damage and that's one of the main things (at least in my opinion) that holds him back from beating some of the top tier variations.....what if we give him F212 as a universal string? That would help him out significantly in both Cybernetic and Commando.

Well firstly, *literally. And secondly Shinnok is not top tier in literally everything. Not even Bone Shaper is top tier in literally everything since his meterless damage is worse than Cassies. Please do not generalize his one top tier variation as the entire character, Impostor and Necromancer are mediocre in comparison. BONE SHAPER is top tier, SHINNOK is not. But in saying that I know for some reason people on the site tend to say a character is top tier even though it's one variation (which makes little sense to me) so I get what you mean but I'm just saying.

I would go as far to say that Cybernetic Meterless>Cutthroat Meterless, because Cutthroat's Meterless all comes from F212, while you can cancel any string into DB1 in cyber

So anybody know why EX db1 doesn't have any armor when everyone else's EX launcher has armor? Cutthroat Kano is literally the only character without armor on his EX launcher. If Cutthroat EX db1 had armor it would tremendously help him in my opinion.

Incorrect, Tanya also does not have armour on ex teleport and Ermac doesn't have armour on ex lift Cutthroat doesn't need tremendous help though, it's already his best variation.

If this is how you'd feel I just gotta say be careful with who you pick up because there is some other real doozies out there as well. Stay away from DVorah/Cassie/Quan Chi, have you seen the threads recently? They are in serious need of buffs as well just ask Shidinkydink and HoneyBee

Yeah I find it pretty annoying that they had a patch coming every other week to string us along to each new dlc and evo hype, then just went MIA. Rumor is that Kano commando is getting buffs,though

That was a huge salty rant after getting bodied 3 long sets in a row lol. But it's partially true.

For all I know next patch won't be until months from now lol, and who knows if Kano will even get anything. I've got a couple of really good players willing to help me learn a couple of characters, so I might mess around with more cast members to see which one fits better for me. I've got a couple people I met at Next Level willing to help me learn Cassie, Lao, and D'Vorah offline, and Dukmunky with Tremor online, so I think I'm going to give them a push and just feel out everyone to see if a character can "stick" for me. I do well with HQT Pred though but I don't "enjoy" playing him.

My Kano days might be over though unless some changes happen unfortunately. I won't knock the character anymore to support the guys sticking with him, but I surely need to make a switch.
