Because she is a freaking different character. By this logic she should have safe 50/50s because other characters have safe 50/50s. Except thats not how things work in FGs.

Reg Tele is only a problem if you dont know how to fight it. NJP, Throw, even uppercuts will beat out tele crazy players very easily. The only time a good player wont punish you for doing a reg tele is if you make a correct read.

They need to fix all of her inconsistencies IMO. Speaking from a Kobu Jutsu perspective the EX Tonfa Toss whiffing is killing my vibe :(

Edit: Just to be clear, reg tele is in no way bad. You just have to be smart about using it versus high level competition. My scene already punishes me for doing them regularly and they have been playing against her for one or two days.
You know people keep saying how much tele gets blown up, you happen to see that stream DJT won over sonic fox earlier in the week where were all the tele punishes then? Why does it need invincibility? I just don't see it.

Seems like it should just be an air dash not an invincible air dash.

Fox clearly didn't know the MU well. Once he does, some of those would be blown up for full Sonic Wall Carry combos.

Nobody did not even DJT was punishing those teles consistently and he plays against her every day, I doubt there is anyone who has more experience against tanya then him.

The only time you can punish it is if she does it at the wrong time. If shes smart with them then yes, she can do it safely. But that is kind of the point of the whole move.

Tanya is a character that revolves around mobility. Like it or not, it is what it is. I doubt they are going to nerf regular tele.

I think she has more nerfs coming her way than you think but we'lll have to wait and see. Everyone and their grandmother are switching to tanya which is a huge red flag.

also taking away invincibility doesn't do shit to her mobility

How consist do you want it punished? Every time it's used? Give it crappy frames, braindead punishes, and kill off the character who revolves around using her mobility? Something as simple as easily fuzzy blocking Kobu's 50/50 which eventually will become the normal, is being done about 10% of the time right now by "the best players in the U.S". Why aren't the blocking what should be a near non existent 50/50 by Low then high blocks? Or Dragon Stance getting away with highly punishable specials all tourney. Why aren't they punishing for pokes or full combos depending on distance?

The character is vastly overrated right now. Vastly. Give it time and a lot of these "strong tools" won't be so strong anymore.

I just wanna see more than one punish a game and it just isn't happening I am only talking about taking away invincibilty cause it really doesn't need it the frames are fine as is. just treat it as an air dash.

People are picking her up because

A. She's unique. She has backwards mobility in a game where there usually isnt much reason to not go forward

B. She just came out and is the flavor of the month

C. She's really good

No ones saying she isnt good. Also I dont see what taking the invincibility away would even do. It just sounds like you're mistiming your punishes. If you can NJP as soon as she reappears then why do you need to njp her before she does so.

I just don't like inconsistencies like that which is why there shouldn't be invincibility on it has nothing to do with punishing it and it would do a lot (i.e. air to air collisions).

As opposed to rushdown characters who do the same? lol
You know theirs a huge difference between a character with really good rush down having big damage & a character with really good runaway & zoning having high damage right? You wouldn't give Guile easy access to the damage you would generally wanna give an Oni or a Hakan.

I hatelove this game
Wait wait wait...wait.

First of all her tele does have invincibility...pretty sure every teleport in the game does have minimal invincibility.

Second. It was designed to give her the best mobility in the game

Third. If the invincibility was taken away then it wouldn't be a teleport. It would be an air dash.

Let's give Goro an air dash, come to think of it. Risky mobility would be a godsend compared to no mobility

This isn't street fighter, this is MKX. A game where corner carry and rushdown are the largely dominant strategy, so giving a runaway character damage that most of the cast gets isnt really that big of a deal IMO. That being said I wouldnt mind a damage nerf if they fix some of her inconsistencies.

D_Matt_Ma

Sheeva isn't Goro's wife. Goro is her husband.
F'ing hate this character. The argument that this game needs a character with safe mobility while justifying her high damage and strong normal is getting stupid. Here over half the cast has weaker normal, lower damage, and nowhere near the mobility OR safety she has. Evo top 8 with 4 pocket Tanyas. I'm calling it.

Name one other tele with invincibility

So smoke and freddy had special dashes? Anyway would that be so bad? Still the only character with an air dash. (forgot about spectral ermac, can you blame me?)

Mileena's, Raiden's, Jason, Kung Lao... pretty sure Scorp, Takeda and Ermac have invincibility too - at least while they're off the screen

they are off screen this isn't invincibility, tanya's tp has no indication of her actually leaving the screen and you can throw her out of it.

... that's the point.

Because she doesn't leave the screen, giving it invincibility makes it a teleport. Otherwise it'd just be a dash, but even back dashes have invincibility so...

which it should be, don't get why she gets to break this rule when not even Raiden got to keep his invincibility despite tele being in only one variation and them adding significant recovery from mk9 so I just assumed they were saying good bye to free invincible teleports.

What a day. What a lovely day.
People hate mobile characters. This should come as no surprise. As far as people saying, "She's new still, the punishes will come with time...." Yeah, barely anyone would even punish Kitana's ass out of the corner 2 years into MK9, so good luck with that one.

Normalize grab immunity.
I just would like to ask to actually be able to lab a dlc character instead of just being allowed to play her for a week. Like why isn't this a thing yet. Anyways, any tanya mains on PC want to get some matches in so I can properly bitch with everyone? (You can add me on psn but I don't have plus right now)

Not many people had local, high level Kitanas to train against in their scenes back then, for one thing. CD Jr and 16 Bit come to mind as probably the best Kitana's, even though CD would drop her for Skarlet. I don't even think The SoCal or Vegas scenes even had a Kitana on that level.

Honorable mentions do go to Khaotic and Mr.Mileena, but they weren't able to travel nearly as much.

Also, MK9 didn't have a record function in its training mode. Also, even the top players in MK9 were not as good as they are now.

So there's that.
