No, it doesn't. If you're out in space, he can manipulate you in any way that he chooses. If you choose to use a low, you're getting hit by his minion overhead. He even has the same overhead in both hellfire AND inferno for a knockdown. You also have to respect his minion charge & minion grab. In theory, it may be bad, but that damn variation is very well-balanced. He also gets good oki from this variation the same way that he does with hellfire except hellfire has more damage & more consequences. And even if you're blocking, he can run in & go on the attack which is what he wants you to do. Hellfire I think is stronger, but inferno is very good.

Posts like this, to me are proof that people will complain no matter what, and blame the games balance instead of their own mistakes.
You put liu up against a character who builds meter at a decent pace thn he is fucked. Armor blows up his offense and its even worse if they get him on KD...with his only real viable wake ups being db2 or flying kick (in which both are only good on a read). I love my character but i love the obvious even more.

I'd suggest you invest a little heavier into comprehension, friend. I didn't say that he's giving me trouble at all that's just your baseless projection, I just said you are another whinger. Liu Kang is in a really good spot as far as balance goes.
He can be in a good spot...but that doesn't make him top 10. I said I'll place him in top 15.
I dunno, all of Liu's variations have good potential going for them IMO. I don't blame Pig himself for being apprehensive about where he sits.
You have a point, but I think the most helpful way to list the characters is to view them as a package, because there are exceptions where a character has 2-3 viable variations that all have different MUs each, that makes the character stronger as a package to have as a main. Sub Zero for instance has 3 viable variations which pick up where the others leave off. Then we have chars that have 3 shit variations like kenshi, which is why he does suck
Dragon's Fire Liu is the only Liu, and he's a very solid character. He's just not as brain dead as some of the current "top tier" characters appear to be atm

gm sub is no longer best variation in the game prob, but as a package all 3 subs give him the tools to fight any character
