Question - Hollywood Cassie nerfs

Ive always thought the b124 string was neutral. I usually get away with hitting people with the flip kick.
Ive never used the f34 string as a brawler starter.
Ive won quite a lot of matches still.
These are not super duper harmful. At least not in my opinion. But that's just me

Most TO's put in place a timing rule for patches. Combo Breaker, for example, has a fifteen day patch rule. Basically, if a big balance patch comes out within 15 days of the event, you can't play with the updated patch at said event.

TOs aren't fools. Don't be surprised if you get to play the older version of the game.

That said, alot of these nerfs that went out were largely bug fixes, alot of them were good, but I don't think Cassie, or Sub Zero needed / deserved what they got.

Unlike the PS3/360, you cannot pick and choose which update to delete on the PS4 system. So you're either stuck with the day 1 game or the latest patched version.

It is very difficult, and a massive headache ensuring that every PS4 that TOs receive/own are not accidentally updated to the latest version. My PS4 had already downloaded and installed the patch automatically. I would assume that most people who own the PS4 version have their console connected to the internet and at times, even trying to NOT install the patch is difficult. If there was an option to delete select patches then that would be fantastic, otherwise things become too messy.

Edit: Being a TO myself, the logistics involved in ensuring that all consoles are updated with the latest DLC and patched is itself a nightmare. But to ensure that it is NOT patched to the latest update? Hahaha, dreaming.

NRS doesn't have complete control on when the patch comes out. If the situation is the same as it was for the PS360 generation, then these changes were made weeks ago, and they were waiting for Sony and MS to approve the changes. Also, tournaments happen like every week, there's no way to avoid having a patch come out around the same time as a tournament these days.

Also, you should be complaining to the TOs that are using brand new patches at their tournaments.

You think that the onus is on the tournament hosts to magically ensure that no system has the update that's being used? I'm not sure what fairy land you live in, but that's more difficult than it sounds on top of the work that goes into hosting it in the first place.

These patch timings are far bigger because they influence the outcome of the tournaments directly. They also alter gameplay negatively for people who are spending significant amounts of their own money to fly to these events and support their game.

I don't think the combo breaker TOs would have a 15 day patch rule in effect unless they had a way to ensure the consoles weren't patched. Testing and setting up that many would be a nightmare, but it comes with the "job."

I guess it just depends on where the consoles come from.

Anyway, yeah. Cassie's B124 should be plus on block considering all the options people have once that 4 starts up alrady.

There are no weekly majors. People don't spend hundreds to travel to locals so please stop. The tournament schedule is a known thing, best time would have been after evo.

It's on the TO to decide whether to implement the changes. Given, this looks difficult but they knew this was coming and need to prepare appropriately. They did it with IGAU and with MK9 so it should come as no surprise.

I get that people traveling might be annoyed by the timing but that's part of the deal at this stage in the games life.

NRS is likely locked into a company/publisher release schedule, not a tournament release schedule. A few million people will buy the game and they're not going to move releases off their schedule for a hundred or so.

And when's the right time? Before Toryuken = complaning. Then Combo Breaker is next week, that's more complaining. 3 tournaments starting in early June, that's more complaining. No matter what, people would have had to deal with it and NRS just has to do their job.

You need to be informed about 2 things you seem to be misinformed about:

1. Patches have not cost the developers any money to implement since year 3 of the xbox 360/ps3 era. The money they are using was money that was already allocated for this games development cycle. So your point concerning this is incorrect.

2. During the ps3/360 era you could delete installed patches and revert to an older version of the game. This is no longer possible. The ps4/one downloads updates while off (system is never really off it is in a hibernation state) and connected to the internet. Most tournament systems will be used for multiple games. So if you download a patch for guilty gear, or any other game, the ps4 will install the MK update as well. Once the patch is installed it cannot be uninstalled. Deleting the game save data and re installing is not an option because this is the third patch to be released, so your options are to either play Day 0 game or the current build.

To be fair Cassie was and still is pretty strong character. And some nerfs were much needed actually for the sake of this game.
NRS just did it in a worst way possible, that's my only complaint.

Actually for all you cry babies League of Legends a game that even KDZ can reference to and THE most popular E-Sport of our generation when they drop a patch regardless of the timing for it they just run there professional gaming tournaments on the prior patch for 1 week or 2 and then bring the patch up to current later on. So no I don't think anyone should blame NRS for the patch timing I think you should be talking to the TO's about using the patch if you think it made that drastic of a change on character gameplay every game that I know of that has an e-sport associated doesn't drop patches based on tournaments that makes no sense considering the main player base isn't the competitive scene. They drop them and then let the tournament organizers decide what patch the tournament should or should not be played on simple as that.
