Let's talk: MKX on PC

On a more positive note, The steam MKX forums have been blowing up for days. The amount of PC players is far greater than most people initially thought. Are these people posting on the steam forums any good? There are a lot of "this is my first fighting game" and other questions/statements that seem like there will be plenty of noobs to stomp. I just hope that there are some good players as well as these noobs who will be on PC.

Fingers crossed for that midnight release..
From my experience, PC players vary from those fighting with uppercuts (may be active during weekend days) to those half-knowing what to do to occasional folks well known on TYM bunching up in rooms at evening, but mostly casual players who you can see saying stuff like "I hope it will run smoothly at 30 FPS" and the like. Many won't show up online at all. Many leave after figuring that aforementioned fighting with uppercuts only get you so far.

Long story short: you are looking at platform that never had dedicated FG culture and the game that is gateway to FGs for many. Set your expectations accordingly.

...and being a filthy casual, I'm fine with that situation :p

Couldn't agree with you more. As long as I can find some mediocre people to train with(most likely from tym) I will be happy.
All though it will help to learn how to beat players from all skill levels no matter how they play. I tend to occasionally have problems fighting spammers because of the unpredictability.
At least it seems like spamming/zoning won't be as popular as it was in injustice from the looks of things.

I'm too hype to sleep and us PC players could be waiting another 33 more hours or so :(

I have been stressing out about this bullshit for about a week now. Everytime i see the timer on TYM main page i get depressed thinking that we will have to wait 13-14 hours longer than everyone else to even START downloading/installing.

But this reddit post helped settle me down and provided much hope for a midnight release.
http://www.reddit.com/r/MortalKombat/comments/324yhu/steam_preorders_concerned_with_the_unlock_time/
If what that person is saying is true i will be okay with it. If i have to wait until tuesday afternoon i will be fucking pissed.

I feel like what that OP is saying on that reddit post could be true. It would make a lot of sense for steam to give incorrect unlock dates for popular games. There is no pre-loading for MKX on steam so literally EVERYONE who pre-ordered would be downloading at midnight. By saying the game doesn't unlock until 14 hours later it will help alleviate the thrashing the servers would take from all that downloading.

There is still hope for a midnight release tmr night which is keeping my spirits up. If i am forced to wait 14 MORE hours on top of all the waiting i have already been doing I will be fucking irate as well.

Keeping my fingers crossed.
I know of that thread, and was thinking MAYBE... but you see, the promotional offer to preorder the Premium Edition at a discount will end at the same time. They couldn't end that deal prematurely, that would be wrong. So are they going to have that deal running while the game is technically out as well? Doubtful. I'm afraid we've been screwed and have to wait another day to play.

I can't possibly be the only one that thinks it is ABSURD how Xbone had a preload for an entire week and PS4 has a preload for 2 days and yet, PC players get to play the game a day after the release. And that's not even mentioning the guys who got the game 2 weeks early already. Jesus fucking Christ.

Nothing can be done about it, so there is really no point in being "pissed about". For some people downloading gonna be a problem but it seems that most people (like me) have decent connections these days (100 Mbit/s+ DL) which means they don't care about preload at all.

Nothing can be done about a myriad of shit in the world. That doesn't delegitimates negative reactions about said things just because "nothing can be done about that". Were the issue only the preload, I'd be less pissed - but that isn't enough, we are the only current gen plataform that's actually going to play the game after the release when a shitton of people already have the game for days.

Sure you can be pissed but what's the point? You gonna feel better? Nope. It's gonna change something? Nope.

And im not sure what did you expect to be done about the early game leak on PS4/X1? Local stores don't give 2 fcks about embargo so they sold it as soon as they got it. So you expected that game should be released "now" on Steam coz of that? Don't be silly. Most people actually gonna play this game at or after official premiere date and time. PC players have to wait like hmm 24h more (from now), really not the end of the world. And it's nothing compared to 2 years which we had to wait for MK9 on PC. Stop being a crybaby.

Sucks for us PC users....especially me since I took a vacation day the 14th expecting to stay up all night playing, and then sleep and play all day. I won't be doing that now. But on the bright side, I can watch Reo and Brady's stream all day and all night. That softens the blow a little bit.
That's the best part of this downside, gives me designated time to watch all the legal MKX streams that are gonna appear before we're all too distracted with our own play.

Got the game pre purchased and I'm set for 1PM tomorrow. Add me on steam and I'll try to play with everyone as often as possible. Super glad there's a PC audience here. I was starting to get a little worried I'd be alone. I don't have a PS4 just yet so its good to know I won't be alone here.

Wait does yours not offer you the option at all? Mine had the preload button come up on steam but it was only a small file it actually downloaded.
No, no it does offer the option but it's 108 mb just like for everybody else atm. :)

The pre-load button has to be a good sign ....even if it's just tiny maybe they unlock the rest for preload sometime?

Well the odd thing is that when you do click on the preload it lists the size as being for the whole game (29.2gb) so I don't get why it only downloads whatever this other thing might be.

What if it's the combat pack? So now that'd be... the Samurai Skin Pack. Just a guess.

Also when you try to play, it says "content still encrypted".

That's right, I remember it showing an estimated download time, it said over 5 hours for me. Yet this was done very quickly, under a minute.

The whole thing is pre-loading as I speak. It was a small cache I guess. Just kicked up by itself after the tiny pre-load.

Now it's suddenly downloading 3.0 GB. Still not the full game then, but something. So... it's installing in pieces?

That reminds me... I gotta make some space on my hard drive!

Lol same here, guess we're getting it piece by piece?

Maybe someone from NRS finallys asked Steam to allow preload and they are making stuff available as and when they can?
