I thought the comics and the game being different stories was pretty obvious...Shawn has said it on Twitter before. He said it's more of a background to set up in-game circumstances.

He said you don't need one to enjoy the other, but unless they're doing some dicking Matrix style writing its impossible for them to both exist in the 25 year gap and not have some overlap. This entire Raiden / Scorpion beef their setting up for instance, no way the game is just skipping over that entirely.

Yeah obviously there's overlap, but he did say that the comics were more of a background story for characters that help set up in-game situations too.

Hell naw Cage is easily one of the coolest MK characters .

I like how Cage is Earthrealm's champion now.

Definitely a more fitting representative for us.

I totally believe and agree that it looks like Johnny is Earthrealms Champion and he defeated Shinnok.

The intro dialogue between Cassie and Raiden hints at it even more.
How Raiden says "You have not your fathers gifts" it really sounds like Johnny did stuff and Raiden has much respect for him as a powerful warrior.

Hope its true because im sick of Liu Kang being champion or another Shaolin Monk.
Earthrealms Champ being a cool and self loving actor is really fresh and brings in more dynamic than Liu Kangs "Lord Raiden can i clean your toilet?" mentality.

Well when he is saying "gift" I think he is just referring to the green energy which is unique to cage. Just my thoughts.
I do agree though, I like cage way more as a champion than Liu Kang

the comic is mostly in the second major gap in the games story it seems...
The game is heavier in the 25 year later part ...in the 25 years there are @ 4 major conflicts ...although IDK what makes something a major conflict or if there are several minor ones too...

Huh, if Cage is the Champion of Earthrealm hen chances of him being playable seem good. I hate to do baseless speculation but I doubt the guy crowned Champion wouldn't be playable.

Well we have to consider something...
What if he isn't the champion, and Kotal maybe mistook him as such? Johnny is too smug to admit otherwise and it would explain Sonya's... exasperation with it all. Not saying he isn't playable, but just maybe another moment of Johnny being Johnny.

If he is thats awesome, but I don't pin him as someone who would be like "No I'm not the champion, you have some other guy mistaken for me".

I will say that if you listen and read what is said they really have been saying it all along...yes I know some stuff (I have mostly said everything already here and there) but it's stuff that applied to info we have fits and is not all the hard to figure out...I don't like saying anything that isn't already prettymuch out there...
