MKX Comic Plot Discussion & Speculation Thread

Trust me, I'm a doctor
Rather than have a long discussion again I will ask Shawn Kittelsen on Twitter and he will clarify if he is on the other side of the portal or not, sound fair?

Assuming what you are saying, it's not hard to take a picture of what's in front of you before dropping your phone behind you. And what was in front of her was Erron in the portal. Easy.

Reptile wasn't loyal? To who? When? Because we can only assume Erron is loyal right now, and we could just as well assume that he's not loyal we just happen to be assuming he is loyal right now, since Erron's backstory has not been explored yet.
But she was taking a picture behind her, otherwise there wouldn't be any way to know when the portal was coming unless you are insisting they saw a random portal and decided to run into it while aiming the camera forward which, until that point, served no purpose. Aiming behind does and it adds up with what she said. The portal seems to have taken them by surprise, and I mean the black dragon are the ones chasing her.

Erron doesn't seem to be the type to say "Its two-for-one tonight" so I'm thinking... Kano.

He wasn't loyal to Kotal K'etz. This is me speculating more than anything, but it seems odd that out of all of the people there, Reptile is the only one we know comes back alive. Also with his in-game comments between him and Kotal, it seems to be the way I believe. As far as Erron goes, just seems weird for them to leave out Kotal commanding him to take the daughters, or that he arrived at all with the other couple of people. Not to mention, there ARE other factions who would gain from traction between those two realms.

I'd say don't even bother anymore.

In the face of overwhelming evidence and logic from multiple sources, he keeps on trying to convince himself there isn't a way for the story to make sense for some reason.

At least it's keeping the thread alive I guess.
"evidence" is a strong word since you are trying to convince me of things that not only haven't been shown, but haven't even been hinted at. You're coming at me with very very weak circumstantial evidence, and it all falls flat when you consider there are much more likely alternatives. The story makes sense with my idea as well, and mine doesn't suffer from the fact of time constraints, lack of knowledge, possible lack of technology, lack of motive, and so on.

My theory doesn't depend on any continuity errors.

MKF30

Fujin and Ermac for MK 11
It makes perfect sense as KK can use that as leverage or a bargaining tool. Or....another possibility that the skeptics and "people saying omg continuity errors" are saying did you ever consider the fact that maybe it's NOT the real Erron Black? It could be Quan Chi posing as him? Ever think of that or someone else?

I mean this isn't out of the realm of possibility(pun intended) all I'm saying...it's not like we haven't seen this before.

I just want to clear one other thing up regarding the picture angel, I don't know about cameras on everyone's phones here but mine has two cams....one in front and behind, thus can take pictures behind me or in front of me. Just saying, Cassie's phone obviously can do the same but NOT all phones have that option. But it does exist so it's possible.

Lets assume these are plot points: (humor me)

1) Erron Black is actually working with the Black Dragon, whom are known War Profiteers and whose leader (Kano) has a longstanding grudge with Sonya Blade.

2) Kotal Khan is actually innocent in the endeavor. This sets the stage for the upcoming war in the game, since he will take this attack and Raiden's distrust in him as personal affronts.

3) Raiden is the one who brought Sonya Blade to Kotal. This makes sense with his foresight and ability to pretty much freely roam the realms as an Elder God.

4) Reptile is a traitor as well. This sets the stage for Kotal becoming distrusting towards his personal allies, which sets up for the dialogue between them all in-game.

With these points, its all explained. The kidnapping serves as a grudge point and allows for them to push Outworld into war with Earthrealm, which serves their own needs. This is also backed by the fact that the Black Dragon are big into cybernetics, and could generate their own portals if Erron didn't steal the stone. Also Erron Black. Black as in Black Dragon. Maybe? He also seems to be the only person not taking action when Sonya and Kotal's first meeting begins to fall out.

Sonya's shot could be considered an act of war, and Kotal is already shown to be hurt at Raiden's lack of co-operation. This would be a good final-straw which forces the book into the thick of the plot and helps it transition well.

Reptile's deception could mean any number of things, but that is a big speculation that serves the purpose for Kotal's harsh interactions with his once-loyal-followers.

While true, it can't usually take pictures of both at once. Your screen is either looking behind or ahead of you. If Erron is in the portal, theres a distinct lack of orange and a large amount of grey.

You're assuming she was taking a picture behind her. It's a comic remember, continuity errors are bound to happen. Take the whole "oh Mileena's eyes were orange but now they're blue" thing. It's just another one of them I'd assume. But we'll find out from Shawn.
Even so, of course she didn't know when the portal was coming but in an act of urgency she could've switched to her back cam and snapped Erron in the portal. But we'll wait for Shawn's answer on this.

Kano?! He wasn't even there! LOL. It was either Jarek or Tasia that said it since they were the ones standing on that side of the portal behind Cassie and Jacqui. But I've also asked this so when Shawn gives me an answer on that we can clear that up too.

When did Reptile even die though? I do agree it's weird that any exchange between Kotal and Erron about capturing the girls hasn't been mentioned, the same way nothing about Erron has been mentioned other than he's Kahn's side man.

I like the sound of number 3 actually, perhaps Raiden guided her there. But we'll find out soon enough hopefully, otherwise there's always Twitter :p

But why would Kotal want Sonya as an enemy? Kotal has been trying to form an alliance with Sonya and Earthrealm so that they can bring both Earthrealm and Outworld back to their former glory remember. That one doesn't make sense at this point, I doubt he just gave up on asking for help.
The Black Dragon making portals now? Hmm I dunno, maybe. Erron Black Dragon? It's Erron Ermac Black remember? :DOGE

I do think Sonya and Kotal might go at it in the next issue, or at least Kotal's gang will attack her at first. Then perhaps Kotal will get up and tell them to stop so he and Sonya can talk. Kotal ends up knowing nothing about the kidnapping and helps her get Cassie and Erron really is up to something different? Aaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh I just want to read them all already!

Woah woah woah, Reptile being a traitor? Hasn't he always been by the Emperor, whoever that may be at any point, 's side? Then again that would give him a valid reason for being back for MKX. I'll bite for now.

If Erron was "in" the portal, then the angle makes no sense, nor does the background. He had to be outside of the portal, and she left her phone outside of it, so it would make sense he chased her to where the portal would spawn.

Kano?! He wasn't even there! LOL. It was either Jarek or Tasia that said it since they were the ones standing on that side of the portal behind Cassie and Jacqui. But I've also asked this so when Shawn gives me an answer on that we can clear that up too.

HE was the one on the other side of the portal bringing them in. Erron chased them there, Kano took them. Fits with dialogue, plot, continuity, and it progresses the story if thats the case.

To chart it out:
Jarek, Tasia, and Erron -> Cassie and Jaquie |portal| -> Kano and the Black Dragon

This is further supported by the fact that Erron isn't holding the portal stone, something that seems to need to be channeled in some way to open.

When did Reptile even die though? I do agree it's weird that any exchange between Kotal and Erron about capturing the girls hasn't been mentioned, the same way nothing about Erron has been mentioned other than he's Kahn's side man.

He didn't, hence my assumption. He was the only one who made it back. Wouldn't think the Red Dragon to leave behind stragglers, plus Goro would need a messenger to get Kotal to come to him.

I like the sound of number 3 actually, perhaps Raiden guided her there. But we'll find out soon enough hopefully, otherwise there's always Twitter :p

It just makes sense to me. That removes a lot of plot holes that are trying to be brought up in this, like them bringing a vehicle, finding the place, and so on.

But why would Kotal want Sonya as an enemy? Kotal has been trying to form an alliance with Sonya and Earthrealm so that they can bring both Earthrealm and Outworld back to their former glory remember. That one doesn't make sense at this point, I doubt he just gave up on asking for help.

He wouldn't, but then, he doesn't know this is going on. What he is concerned with is that he is fighting Goro who just killed his dad. Seems odd timing to stage a kidnapping, and as you just said "why would he want her as an enemy?"
The Black Dragon making portals now? Hmm I dunno, maybe. Erron Black Dragon? It's Erron Ermac Black remember? :DOGE

Erron black steals the portal stone = portals
Black dragon is probably on par with the Red Dragon and Cyber Lin Quei with Kano and Kabal as standing testaments. Making teleporters might not be that hard for them. At the very least, if they buy into the technology (because its Black Dragon), they would have a base from which to bring the girls. Brings together the idea of Erron Black being a double agent, why they chased them to the portal, why he is there at all, and why the dialogue seems to fit only one real character by this point in the story, being Kano.

I do think Sonya and Kotal might go at it in the next issue, or at least Kotal's gang will attack her at first. Then perhaps Kotal will get up and tell them to stop so he and Sonya can talk. Kotal originally comes to EarthRealm because the Red Dragon did something, and they came to take them down. Raiden might be like "Thats going too far" or something, but yeah I'm banking Kotal doesn't know a thing but takes this personal that she would attack him so dishonorably and suspect him first.

Woah woah woah, Reptile being a traitor? Hasn't he always been by the Emperor, whoever that may be at any point, 's side? Then again that would give him a valid reason for being back for MKX. I'll bite for now.
If he is, it explains why Kotal in the game seems to be a really big issue for F/T (once you hear their quotes you'll understand) and the rest of the crew.
Likewise, think about it, if reptile is a traitor in the story then it REALLY gets juicy. Wonder where those red dragon goons got that disappearing tech... Seems a lot like something Reptile can do naturally, perhaps some inspired works?

What do you mean the angle makes no sense? The portal could be above him/ Cassie and Jacqui were in the air suggesting they got sucked into the portal and since they were in the air she could've been above him. The background? The background is greyish-brown with some white dots, that doesn't tell us anything. The portal effects don't have to be in the picture, it is pretty small. He couldn't have been outside the portal, he never came with Jarek and Tasia in the first place.

Edit: I am literally reading the comic as I type this and you can clearly see noone behind Cassie and Jacqui. They were just running away from the only two people there, Jarek and Tasia.
HE was the one on the other side of the portal bringing them in. Erron chased them there, Kano took them. Fits with dialogue, plot, continuity, and it progresses the story if thats the case.

Incorrect. Kano makes no appearance, Erron is nowhere to be seen besides the picture Cassie took which has to be of him in the portal since he wasn't behind her or Jacqui. Continuity errors happen and have happened, the comics aren't going to be perfect. It doesn't fit with the dialogue because Kano isn't mentioned or seen anywhere and the phrase comes from where Jarek/Tasia were standing, plotwise is to be determined because we don't know what it is yet, continuity is irrelevant because as I said there will be errors since it's a comic and although it might progress the story so would many other things.
Erron could be holding the portal stone in his palm for all we know or Kotal could be standing there but we don't know yet.
Brings together the idea of Erron Black being a double agent, why they chased them to the portal, why he is there at all, and why the dialogue seems to fit only one real character by this point in the story, being Kano.
But A. he didn't chase them because he's nowhere to be seen and B. the dialogue fitting a character is a weird thing to say because the dialogue doens't refer to a character and it's clearly only either Jarek or Tasia saying it. Also Kano being the one to say it is a random conclusion considering he's not even mentioned or seen anywhere.
If he is, it explains why Kotal in the game seems to be a really big issue for F/T (once you hear their quotes you'll understand) and the rest of the crew.

I'll see if I can find some Kotal Ferra/Torr quotes now. I do agree that if Reptile is a traitor then it would give him a good reason to be back, and at the moment I'm still not happy with them bringing back characters like Kung Lao and Kitana when they died in MK9 considering we have no good reason for that being yet.

Edit: Can't find any, if you could link me that'd be great. I did however find a D'Vorah Ferra/Torr one which makes it sound like D'Vorah is or becomes queen. Bye Mileena ;)

Oh and I just listened to one of the Kotal Reptile and Kitana Reptile intro quotes and Reptile is clearly still working with Kotal, not a traitor I'm afraid.

Okay guys, lets move on for now. We have some interesting news.
As most of you have probably seen, Shao Kahn's hammer is propped up in that new stage with his armour. Whatever happens to it post-Goro disarming, it ends up in the hands of the Brotherhood of Shadows.

"What?? How do you know this?" I'm not jumping to conclusions here. Remember in the "Next" video they showed the menus resulting from when you choose a faction war? There are the exact same bottles with skeletons and shit on that stage as in the Brotherhood of Shadows menu.

I'm all but certain that they are trying to resurrect Shao Kahn, the thing in the middle looks like a failed attempt (I know resurrection may seem easy in MK, KL and Kitana are proof etc), but maybe it's more difficult if you're killed by Elder God dragon worms.

Anyone else thinking we're getting a weird, resurrected Shao Kahn as final boss?

Ermac ate Shao Khan, so maybe he goes aggro...
Or maybe gets absorbed.

so, whose going to have the minerals to admit they were wrong come Sunday?
If I'm wrong, I'm wrong.

But if I'm right, and I do mean about everything (I accept no partial victories) then I demand statues be erected in my favor.

Wish I could provide but all I have is what I heard at one of the live demos. I'll say the world "enslave" comes to mention.

We shall see.

Ate him? Couldn't help but imagine Ermac eating Shao Kahn's corpse like a snake, made me laugh.

Yeah there's going to be some sort of soul removal bullshit I reckon.
Soulnados are a thing that happens, but I'm thinking that Ermac eats that red demon that came about in the first few issues.
Thoughts?

Doombawkz

Is enslave all you remember or do you remember the whole thing?
I don't want to let loose anything they don't want released since it could play into the plot...
But I will say that the word "enslave" slips from Ferra's side of things (memory serving). That should paint picture enough of what its come to.

I can imagine a civil war, kinda like the end of the Injustice story with the Flash and all.

Fair enough, but yeah... I feel like it has something to do with the Kamidogu...
Apparently, blood magic is a thing... A very dangerous thing.

They're probably going to go over them all anyway, they gave away some through the Reptile Kitana one. And they'll also reveal the story. It's not like 3 lines gives away the entire story lol.

Yeah it definitely does. Although Shaun has said these Kamidogu are very different to the ones in deception (which is confusing, why not give these daggers a different name if they're different?). I keep thinking Havik must be involved because of the face slice, but that could just be nothing. God damn it I could talk and speculate about MKX all day. I need to do some work too :(

From what I could gather...

Kotal (outworld) went straight Stalin.
Ferra/Torr are out of the "inner circle"
D'Vorah isn't too fond of them either.

Blah blah. I don't remember it all, but I do know that Ferra/Torr don't want to be taken back because they are afraid.
Something about being enslaved. I know there is a video somewhere with them talking, I'll try to find it for you.
My memory is pretty shit. I'll find you the video. Just use your imagination for now.

Listen closely and you can hear it.

"We kill (...)"

"(...) your purpose."

"You make us slaves!"

The blanked out words are a bit hard to decipher over the voice, but I put what I know from the quotes in there where it might be hard to hear. I'm only missing like 3 words.

@Youphemism , I wish I could give you more but as you know F/T don't get any stream love.

So you think it's a good idea to fight 2 wars at once? Because that's what Kotal will be doing and Sonya has JUST shown she has no intention of being on the defensive.

First thing she does is attack him WITH the knowledge he may have her daughter. I don't see how or why that would change in the future, it'll only give her more opportunities to rescue them and kill him.

Kotal has shown to be more honorable than kidnapping daughters of people not his enemy and smarter than pissing off TWO military geniuses.

I don't think Kotal is that dumb but I do think the theories that Erron's Quan Chi or Black dragon traitor make much more sense.

No, and if you'd actually read my posts you'd see that's not what I said at all. Sonya is being a protective mother, that's why she shot him. And I feel like I'm saying this for like the fifth time now but Kotal wants to form an alliance with Earthrealm, he's made that clear. He'll try and calm her down and find out Erron did it himself or something.
First thing she does is attack him WITH the knowledge he may have her daughter. I don't see how or why that would change in the future, it'll only give her more opportunities to rescue them and kill him.
She's assuming that Kotal has Cassie and knows about her capture. For all we know Kotal might not know shit and Erron/Black Dragon are holding her hostage instead.
Kotal has shown to be more honorable than kidnapping daughters of people not his enemy and smarter than pissing off TWO military geniuses.
Exactly, so he might not know about her capture. But if he did know and asked Erron to kidnap her then it's blackmail to get her to form an alliance with him.

I first thought this said the theory that Kotal Kahn is Quan Chi makes sense haha. But traitor to the Black Dragon? I'm leaning more towards allied with for now.
