Yea they def need a little bit of work on their hype management dept. As if revealing too much is going to hemmorage them sales. It only draws in fans. The majority of fanbase has already made up their mind and will buy the game. The rest either dont know the game exists yet or are on the fence. More exposure gets both groups more likely to buy/preorder. The game is so beautiful looking that it can sell on glitz and glamour alone, just get it out there more.

It's not up to them though, Paul Marketing says when and where.

What they have proven (now three games in a row) is that they can show us next to nothing for a year and their games will sell millions. There is literally no incentive for them to change their practices.

Not like Killer Instinct or Skullgirls are some sales juggernauts because they do streams every 20 minutes.

This is all true, but it's interesting that they don't do more to target SFIV/GG/Smash/whatever playerbases. They know that a large % of their sales come from casuals, and that just dropping a few commercials before launch will get their attention and their money, but showing off some higher level play and maybe more of the engine would probably do more for the competitive crowd, which is the only group that's probably paying attention right now, and wouldn't buy anyways.

Not a large %. All the %. How many sales do you actually think there are in the competitive crowd? Do you think if every single member of this board refused to buy the game that it would even register on their profit radar?

WB knows where their bread is buttered. We literally do not matter to them.

Less than a % likely. But the casuals are aware of hype these days, and having a great showing at EVO moves units, having the whole community pan the game doesn't. I'm sure they made money on Armageddon but they haven't pulled that crap again, and it's because there's no point in harming themselves. Keeping the community happy pays dividens in the long run, and while we aren't their key demographic by far they do benefit by growing it and appeasing it. Otherwise why spend the time and the money to patch anything? It's expensive and time consuming and the casuals will play the newest guest DLC anyways.

He's been using Oreos as his hint to a guest character, leading everyone to believe he was referring to Sweet Tooth.

However, with the recent news of NRS' deal with Todd Mcfarlane, I think the Red Velvet Oreos are instead a hint towards a different guest character; Spawn as they're both Black, White and Red.

To those of you talking about sales; I'm pretty sure this game will sell a lot more units than people believe. It's a cross gen game and people love MK as it is. The game will be released on 5 platforms. I'm gonna guess 7-10 million units. It's gonna be big.

all these tweets about low temperature, Sub Zero and lin kuei... i understand it IS really cold in Chicago, but the pure number of tweets about it make me think there could be more to them.
