I really enjoyed the 2014 gaming talk, over the past few years I think it's been going down hill. We're getting into a vicious cycle of where the cost of just developing a game is extremely high and very few companies are willing to take a risk so we are seeing the same shit year after year.
I feel Wolfenstein is very under appreciated this year. That is a great shooter which very smartly mixes old and new mechanics and has a great story. There's no half arsed COD clone attempt at multiplayer, no shitty throw away survival mode, no DLC screw jobs and the game worked fine day one. Yet no one talks about that game.
On the opposite side of the coin the only other new game I got this year was The Evil Within, which is just RE4 with shit gameplay (real rap right there). It's not a terrible game, but come the fuck on do something different. Within the first hour you fight a chainsaw wielding maniac in a spooky village. I think I've seen this somewhere before, it was in a better game that was released 10 bloody years ago.
However, I disagree that Skyrim is phenomenal, it's a bit of a bill.
I can't like this post enough, how a game that has truly some of the most horrendous and unsatisfying gameplay of all time be so acclaimed is ridiculous to me. First person melee combat does not have to suck complete ass.
PS: Really? Nobody's blowing up @
AK L0rdoftheFLY for matter-of-factly and casually stating that "everybody loves Taylor Swift. No matter who you are"? Step your game up, regulators.
I heard a Taylor Swift song once, this girl I worked with mentioned it was in her head all day so I asked which it was, was one of the biggest mistakes in recent memory. My ears still haven't forgiven me. Fly you are crazy, there is plenty to not like about Taylor Swift.
