Ed Boon's hint about the returning -ALITY, "never present in the arcade period of the series."

So, this article (in Portuguese) popped up on Kotaku and various online MK sites. Someone translated the pertinent text, and we have a good hint about the returning -ALITY… or is it going to be a brand new -ALITY? This latest interview with Ed Boon will surely have you speculating...

Interviewer: The favorite part of the players are the moments after the "Finish Him / Her". Two months ago you said MKX will bring back one of those classic finishes that fans love so much. Could you tell us which one would it be?

Boon: As a matter of contract, I can not speak ...


Interviewer: Could you give us a hint then?

Boon: Yes I can give you a hint ... That kind of finisher that will be in Mortal Kombat X was never present in the arcade period of the series.

While this isn't a confirmation, the only real "Finishing Moves" that I can recollect from the strictly-console versions of MK are the Hara-Kiri finishers and Death Traps. What do you think? Did I miss something?
(EDITED) I did miss something. Member "tehdrewsus" pointed out that Brutalities were console-only finishers as well. Hmmmmmm.
Oh, and possibly one of our Brazilian or Portuguese members would be able to translate anything else in the article that is interesting. Thanks, and commence ridiculous speculation!

Ed was pretty clear in a previous interview that the other -ALITY was a returning one. That certainly doesn't rule out the inclusion of yet ANOTHER type of new
-ALITY, as well. You never know with that daffy bastard.

Hm, this has me super curious. Were Brutalities in the arcade version of UMK3?

I'd really like Brutalities to make a return. Could you imagine the level of detail that could get put behind them? I think they could far surpass the level of gore we've seen for Fatalities.

Hara-Kiris would be cool. I personally would like to see a team fatality. One where each character has their own counterpart...even tho it won't happen. They could do one where it's a custom fatality. One where you have several different inputs and they do different things like they had in one of the previous MKs. I can't remember the name of it right now.

I did however just had a thought of some kind of possible weapon fatality. Each character with their own weapon unleashing a brutal kill that strikes fear in the hearts of men. I can imagine it now :cool:

Brutalities were only in the console versions of UMK3 and in MKT
Arcade version did not have them. Same deal with Rain(initially a joke/Easter egg in the arcade) and noob saibot(only playable on wave net arcade machines) who became usable on the console versions.

I'm pretty sure it's brutalities. They were going to be included in MK9, but time restraints prevented that from happening. I see no reason why they would abandon the idea now...you know...."next gen brutalities."

Yeah, a couple people learnt me hard 'bout it already. So, I'm thinking that Death Traps probably won't come back. That leaves Hara-Kiri and Brutality, I believe. Anything else?

Gotcha, not lecturing just sharing my knowledge
As for alities....well depends if they literally mean something with "ality" at the end or not. If that's the case the only ones that would work would be babality, animality or Brutality. If they straight mean any finisher it could be:

Stage fatalities
Hara-Kiri
Babality
Brutality
Animality (may or may not include "Mercy" which could be made it's own finisher somehow)
Friendship

Who knows. Guess ill do what I always do and wait and see ^_^

ΝΟ! I can tell you for sure that brutalities were NOT in the arcade version neither on the Saturn version of UMK3.
Brutalities were first presented in MK Trilogy.
Take that from a guy born in '83 and playing through EVERY mk... ;) ;)
