how balanced is INJ really?

Judging from pure matchup numbers...no, it's not.

However, when a lot of characters can swing matches in 10 seconds, the theoretical imbalance sometimes goes out the window.

I keep seeing this get said and it is completely wrong.
Multiple gadget characters have car bomb infinite loops.
Striker's Island cell block, HoJ, Ferris, (Arguably) Atlantis, and Gotham all help gadget characters. Other stages like Watchtower, Wayne Manor Batcave, and Luthor's Lab give pretty much the same advantages to all characters.

Also I know some of the gadget/acro characters can most definitely combo into interactibles, such as Batgirl, Harley, Joker, Frost, GA, etc.

On top of that BGB's play a huge roll for a good portion of the cast regardless of interactible type.

That said, acrobatic characters did get unquestionably shafted.
If I see one more person argue car bomb corner setups, or any corner setups with gadget characters I swear to god...

How many tournament matches do you see Gadget characters utilizing them efficiently? Unless it's the dumpster hardly any of them are using them atm. Power characters get 20% tacked on to the end of their combos pretty much anywhere on the screen in almost all matchups. You know that one situational area where Gadget characters get some strength? Well power characters get that...usually every quarter of the screen.

I'm for no interactibles myself because I like pure matches, but this...this is a short sighted view IMO. Without those tools to mitigate so many characters from staying on offense you would see the tier list gaps widen considerably. With no tools to make people more careful in going in or throwing full screen barrages at you their would be quite a lot of characters going crazy in matches and quite a few who could no longer find the opportunities they used to in order to start their offense. Some folks would just have to work way harder for openings.
I'm not going to argue this because I really only play 1 character. I play Green Arrow so interactables really fuck me up, especially when I can't push somebody to the corner because it will put me at a disadvantage. I think he would be better with no interactables outside of a few stages.

So some characters rely on interactables to start offense? I just think the top characters are just way better with the extra free damage in a lot of cases.

I think it would work if we could turn off thrown interactibles and keep the backround bounces. There are several characters that really do rely on the BGB for setups, damage, etc. if you take those away it really changes the whole game(negatively IMO)

Its not so much balanced as loaded with options to equalize the field in the form of really powerful interactables.

Most balanced fighter ever made hands down goes to Capcom vs SNK 2 and its groove system. Character not good with the meter system you have on them? Turns out they were tooled to use a completely different groove and playing a character with different meter systems (or grooves as they were called) also changed their strategies.

Game was a masterpiece of balance and their were something lik 8 grooves to choose from meaning EVERYONE had a setup to make them solid. Runner up to that game? Not Injustice...likely King of Fighters XIII. Its Cancel system and HD gauge setup is masterfully done and while there is a top tier the gap between top and bottom is veeeery small compared to other games making the whole cast viable...just not often as attractive to play as other cast.
No, just no. I liked CvS2, even though the majority of the SNK characters sucked, but that game is not balanced at all. There is so much abuseable crap that only some characters can take advantage of and the rest have no say whatsoever on the matter. As for KOF13, I love me some KOF. And while I do think it's the best fighting game out right now, it is not the best KOF made balance wise. That title still goes to KOF2k2UM. But that's just my opinion and you will hear a lot of people make an argument for KOF98/98UM. IMO, the most balanced fighter ever made was Garou : Mark of The Wolves. That game got everything right and I sometimes wish SNK would give it an HD update and fix the bugs in it.

As for Injustice. I like the game but I do not know much about high level play to see know if it's balanced or not. My gripe with the game is that I feel interactibles should be turned off and that there is no mid range game present.

And if your argument is that Top 8 for the game has variety, then I can argue that this game depends on gimmicks for those characters to get there. Why do I say that? Notice how everyone here goes crazy when a character like Lex or Shazam make Top 8 and then to just see Batgirl, Martian Manhunter, Superman or Aquaman take the whole thing.

Funny, I feel the same way about "Power characters throw things free" arguements when we CONSISTENTLY see people, regardless of character, combo into interactibles in tournament. Pretty much every top 8, be it in locals or nationals, now involves everyone comboing into and out of interactibles.

This outdated "Power characters too good" thing that should have died a year ago.

Players who use gadget characters want to disable interactable objects yet keep the background bounce.

Never saw that coming.
Yeah, because EVERYONE can use BGB and benefit from it. Not everyone can end their combo with free guaranteed damage or just trait up and throw unblockables.

RIP Grundy
Even though i play grundy and have a nightmare against a number of characters, i do feel it's one of the most balanced games currently trending, marvel for example is just stupid

IMO this game isn't balanced. As far as top 8's go, the character diversity is definitely a breath of fresh air but if you really look at the top 8's now at least 5 or 6 characters are consistently there with some of their users pocketing a top tier character. This is my first and probably only nrs game I will play due largely to the fact that this game really does support random shit ftw. Every fighter I played before this had strong characters but those characters weren't stronger in their game compared to the strength of the top characters in injustice. I mean a trait that extends limbs and godlike zoning tools and safe ways in and completely controls everything, another character that basically says screw your moveset, I got one bar and armored specials that with pop you for at least 30+ percent. Lets be serious. I love this game but its too easy to pick up especially when you are using a really strong character to begin with. All my opinion.

one of my favorite player to watch Tyrant said hes done with INJ because of grundy which is confusing because some say he can be top 10 with those 100% reset command grab set ups. is Tyrant just not so good like he was for mk9?
Is there any doubt remaining that you're REO? Hell even your username gives it away given REO's current food gimmick...

Not as a combo opener. More to stop their opponent's momentum and regroup. They create an opening in their opponent's offense to start trying to start their own gameplan.

No, it's absolutely true. We see universal background bounces, which is fine. But how many matchups do you see gadget characters netting 60+ percent guaranteed combos?

How many times do you see a acrobatics character run away and toss shit? Or throw the car which hits 3 quarter screen? The only thing I still currently see people combo into consistently in this games tournament life are background bounces (which are fine), and power characters who end their combos with an interactable.

If you are suggesting that there is balance within the interactables than I have no words for you sir. That scale has been tipped since the launch of the game due to the triangle system (Power, acrobatic, and gadget) there is literally no drawback for power characters where there are ton for gadget and especially acrobatic.

Yes Gadget and Acrobatic are good on a small percentage of stages, but power characters are better on a majority of them and have more options even on the ones they are not.

This is fact.

The only thing I can say is unbalanced is the ranking system. xD I body so many people in ranked cause they mostly suck. Seriously.. I have a 47 win streak in that thing the competition sucks! Of course every once in a while I've run into Lord Decay, Wound Cowboy, Dab, or Foreverking but its very rare.
I guess we haven't run across one another yet.

Wanna add me and play against everyone's favorite online character? :joker:

I say it's pretty balanced. I mean in a ft2 or a ft3 in a tourney I would say every character has a chance to take the set. With the right player behind any character they can overcome a bad MU. 6-4 is not impossible to overcome in tourney or even 7-3 even tho that's is pretty difficult.

That only part of the cast can use.

I don't count divekicking off them or using them to swing around. Gadget characters got screwed on this front.
