Hey guys I've found some REALLY fucked up shit with this character. Fulgore with full meter & instinct available is insane. We already know about the fullscreen antiair, but there's so much more than that. He plays completely differently than normal & his devastation beam is a game changer. I'll go over some of his options...
2 frame DP hit confirming:
While pressuring with Fulgore, you can check the opponent with his DP similarly to Jago. If you cancel your DP with instinct, you can check if your DP hit. If it did & you have full meter, the opponent takes over 40% unbreakable damage.
Shadow counter baiting & unbreakable punishing:
Foward HP is a great tool but can be shadow countered. With full meter & instinct however, a failed shadow counter can be punished for 41%. Do Foward HP > Instinct cancel. If the opponent tried to shadow counter blow them the fuck up.
When being comboed Fulgore is in a favorable situation:
The combo breaker/counter breaker game changes completely with instinct cancels & full meter available. Normally when you are attempting to break a combo, one of the following happens...
A) You break the combo
B) You get locked out for mistiming or guessing wrong
C) The opponent drops the combo from a failed counter breaker attempt
D) You get counter broken
When Fulgore has instinct available & full meter, he can do unbreakable damage after a combo breaker & after a failed counter breaker attempt. Combo breaker > Instinct cancel > Devastation beam does 30 something percent unbreakable. Devastation beam also can be used to punish counter breaker attempts & does the full 41%. Therefore, when trying to break a combo with Fulgore (with instinct available & full meter), one of the following happens...
A) You break the combo & do 30 something percent unbreakable damage
B) You get locked out for mistiming or guessing wrong
C) The opponent drops the combo from a failed counter breaker attempt, & you do 41% unbreakable damage
D) You get counter broken
As you can see, this puts tons of pressure on the attacker. Although he can still counter break Fulgore or hope for a lockout, if he lets Fulgore break or misses a counter breaker, he not only loses his combo but also takes over 30% damage. Keep in mind that if you're already in instinct mode & have full meter you can punish the counter breaker attempt
without the need for an instinct cancel. This even works against Glacius from full screen (FUCK I main Glacius too!
).
Breaking juggles is no longer stupid:
Generally it's considered stupid to break a juggle in KI because of the heavy damage scaling. But because of instinct cancel & devastation beam, if Fulgore breaks your juggle he not only takes ~2% less damage but can do an unbreakable ~35% after an instinct cancel. This is huge if you're almost in the danger zone & the opponent has around a 3rd of his health left. It might be worth the risk to break, especially now since people aren't aware of how game changing Fulgore is with full resources.
