Titanfall! - Loadout and Tag Discussion

StevoSuprem0

I'm gonna make this skill gap... disappear.
I go with a very well rounded loadouts and typically play with the same people so it compliments the way they play.

Pilot:
Carbine
Charge Rifle
Magnum
Pulse
Arc Grenades
Power Cell
Minion Detector

Titan:
Atlas
Triple Thread
Cluster Missile
Vortex Shield
Shield Regeneration
Big Punch

Carbine is really well rounded and great both up close and at range. I'll use the pulse to look for pilots via the way they move through the walls and get them jump on them, as well as locate large clusters of minion in tandem with the detector and take them down with grenades quick and quiet. Charge shot is great for taking out titans because they don't see the lock on like some of the others and you can just dip behind walls to charge it up so they never see it coming. 2 shots and they're almost dead, then someone else in a titan or on the ground with you can generally take them down.

In the titan, I'm pretty much set. Drop grenades all over the map to get free minion skills, use cluster against pilots that are tricky to reach with the triple threat. In titan fight's, this is extremely solid. Catch whatever they try throwing at you with vortex shield. They have one too? Shoot the grenades at their feet. They charge you? Big punch them back into the grenades. A well places grenade or cluster missile can help you get rodeo pilots off, but I generally rely on my teammates, so I guess you could say that's the only weakness of this build. I might start experimenting with Ogre, but I don't like the loss of mobility and damage core. Mobility in this game also functions as defense, so losing dashes for armor/durability isn't really worth it in my opinion. When I get low, I dip out of the fight, regenerate, and get back in no problem usually. Also, using the environment to your advantage with the triple threat is great. I shoot over buildings and other obstacles at enemy titans and doom them fairly easily.

On average I'll get 6-7 pilot kills, 4-5 titans, and around 30 minions, varying based on assists and such.

Yay killing useless AI is soo fun guys and really skillfull...not play a real FPS
The grunts are the equivalent of creeps in Dota or LoL. Anyone with experience with either of those games can tell you that there is a pretty massive skill ceiling in those games. This is no different than tfall. If there wasn't then there wouldn't be so many people bitching about tfall being released without matchmaking. It's one thing if you don't enjoy the mechanics of the game, I can respect that opinion but to refer to it as something that requires no skill is just plain dumb.

You sound like you just don't want to adapt to the mechanics. But I'm curious as to how good you really are as I understand how you define skill. So I challenge you to pick up the game on steam called Insurgency it's a realistic FPS, minimalist hud, no minimap. Can only rely on your abilities to detect sounds and be efficient. You don't even get any confirmation when you hit/kill someone. Pick it up and we'll play some. Surely if your "skill" is far to great for tfall you will be amazing at this game.

Don't worry sweetheart there will be another call of duty clone for you to play soon enough.

But on topic
Doom the only thing I'd change on your smart pistol builds is the suppressor. And it might just be how I play, but especially with a smart pistol I'm parkouring non stop and as such the blip I make on the map when I fire is irrelevant as I won't be there by the time they check it and as such the negative damage I would get from equipping a suppressor isn't really worth it.

Some quick tips I'd recommend to you all:

-Never wall grab if you can avoid it the time it takes for that animation can be your death, try to angle yourself so you can jump and clear the lip of the wall when parkouring.
-If you are going to exit your titan the quickest way to do it is to crouch and look down, this removes the lengthy titan animation which makes it easier to deal with enemy rodeos
-If you are rodeod crouch and look down more than half the time they will think you are exiting your titan and hop off, simply sprint forward turn and kill them.
-To move quickly you can equip stim, use it then parkour and bunny hop after you land, bunny hopping will maintain your momentum until you double jump or hit an object
-You are protected by ally titan shields if you rodeo a friendly titan (Good for CTF)

And the biggest tip I can truly recommend is to think vertical. If you are coming from other FPS's it's really hard to let go of some of your old habits, but this game is designed for movement.
I personally enjoy the suppressor. As it stands, it takes 3 shots regardless of who you kill with or without it but I enjoy picking off grunts quickly and quietly. Avoiding that pop on the mini helps me maneuver and sometimes even catch unwitting snipers.

Wall hang has it's moments. I personally like it when I'm cutting off an advancement or doing a rodeo hop to avoid smoke, but I can agree it's a huge stopper when you don't use it right.

The down and crouch works on a lot of people, personally I crunch until they are at about 25% (about 2 seconds slammed) and then c4 and hop away so regardless of what they do I'm dooming the Titan (and getting the occasional kill)

The rest is 100% solid

I have the game and am gen 2 so I do have it. I define skill as gun skill such as aim and how you position yourself on the map. Also the comparison to minions in lol is Funny as hell the two ate nothing Allike you can't compare FPS to a Moba LMFAO have you guys even played Mona's gtfo with that commparrison it doesn't work like that smh

Kind does in attrition and most other modes. If you have a team who harvests the benefits the minions provide, they will 10/10 beat a team who ignores the minions.

That's fair , and I won't fault you for not liking it. The AI is definitely a feature that some people are off and on about. My friend personally doesn't like the fact that you can't name classes (gets to me too) and how unreliable sniping ends up being so he turned away too.

Not liking it isn't a big issue, as long as there's a valid reason. Know what I mean?

My biggest problem though is the lack of customization

@MidTierHarley Although I don't agree with your delivery (I should take it lightly considering that this IS the internet) you do bring up some great points

1) does this minion system work? It's a pretty dumb concept considering that teams can rack up points so easily to win a game without outplaying actual players. However, I think this was a great concept to discourage camping. What I feel needs to be changed is the point system, if a pilot kill is only worth 4 points, why is a minion worth 1? How easy is it to kill 4 minions? Now compare that to killing a pilot. It just doesn't add up to me.

2) customization. I feel you 100 percent on this, the game has almost NO customization and all the guns have the same 3 scopes (aside from the snipers) and very similar modifications. EA probably did this on purpose to add more to the game later and microsoft is probably going to make us pay for it, lol.

I really enjoy playing this game, I think what they're trying to introduce into first person shooters is creative and innovative.

They should also add a minion less and/or a titan less playlist. It might take away from what they designed this game to be, but it'll add more options for people to explore to see what is right for competitive play.

To be fair, killing a pilot does more for you as a whole than killing grunts. Grunts are the less risk/less reward.

Yeah there needs to be more guns lol 4 just ain't cutting it when I'm used to Battlefield where there's 10 guns in each category and have like 40 attachments

What do you mean it does more than just give you 4 points? I guess I did forget to factor in the titan build reduction you get from killing a pilot, did you mean anything else? Do you not think a pilot kill and titan kill should be worth more than 4 and 5 points?

Eeehhhhhh...fuck the AI.

I just run around with a Sniper with that Holographic sight and fuck people (noobs) up.

When you kill a pilot, you cost them positioning, you burn their current card, you kick them back into whats practically the middle of nowhere to respawn, and if they had a titan which they climbed out of to stop a rodeo then that titan is as good as dead with 9 points going to the victor total. Personally, I feel like pilots aren't that hard to kill (most take only 4 or 5 shots from most automatic weapons) so they should stay worth 4 points because otherwise it invalidates any need for minion control. As far as the titans being worth 5, I feel thats also fair since its stupidly easy to kill the buggers.

However, I do think that grunts should split up more instead of clot as groups of 3.

I think they made a public statement that this would not be happening. It was a request made almost immediately upon the games release by a lot of people who have been conditioned by the play style of call of duty and battlefield games. I'll try to find the link to the statement, but the gist of it is that the game is titanfall one of the main components is the titans and that they have put a lot of effort in separating the way the game plays from the Call of Duty franchise, as such keeping titans in all game modes is fundamental in maintaining that separation.

You may or may not be aware of the bad blood between the Vince Zampella the former head of Infinity Ward (creator CoD series) and many of the respawn dev team, but if you are than you understand why they may be so vehement in keeping their game separate from the CoD franchise.

There is a mode where pilot kills are most important "Pilot Hunter", so those of you who don't like the value instituted upon the grunts and spectres in attrition mode should simply play that mode.

Personally my favorite mode is CTF.

As an additional side not Zampella recently tweeted that they are working on more game modes that will come at no additional cost to the players.

I'm not sure why the quote went to me. lol... I call illuminati.

My personal favorite is CTF as well just because I can jump on an enemy titan flag carrier, load him up with 3 satchel charges, and nuke him and the other 2 titans behind him in one shot. :p

Johnny Based Cage

The Shangest of Tsungs
Shotgun + wallhacks, baby. And my Titan is a fullblown CQC machine too (Ogre, Triple Threat, Big Punch, Cluster).

I mean LBSH, I main Bane, Grundy & Doomsday in Injustice so what did you expect?

I don't get all the hate for killing minions. Are all of you scrubs actually playing attrition? GTFO, play CTF, the only competitive playlist in Titanfall right now. You are all girly boys.

That's my quote!!!

I was not aware of the bad blood.

Thanks for the info. I still havent given CTF a shot. Gonna try it out tonight.
