okay, so how do you beat subzero with his ''superior footsies'' if you can't zone him? the first thing I think about is armor, these characters having tons of armor that destroy footsies. Characters with tons of armor want you to play footsies so they can blow it up with armor.

imo people interpret footsies in different ways but there are some things people all agree about. imo footsies will start to exist when both players are aware of their spacing and their safe/punishable/best options. It starts when both players can punish each others jumping, dashing, special moves or any punishable moves that people would like to throw out. Both players will start to fight their opponents in the distance(spacing) that is advantageous for their character, at the range where they can amount to offense as safe as possible and at the range where they can defend themeselves best against their opponents normals, special moves, jumping, dashing in.
I've always assumed footsies just applies to the practical application of spacing in general. Which is why I think NW is ok.
Thats why I played Skarlet and play Grundy. I get what your saying but footsies still exist when you use armor to reverse tactics.
well thats basically what I said, but footsies can't exist imo if you can't stop your opponents options properly, why would the opponent play footsies with you if you can't punish jumping or a certain special move?

People say "the ground blast can be jump/backdashed/avoided"...but that can be blown up by doing ANOTHER ground blast but by *gasp* delaying it.
injustice is full of characters that ignore your main footsie game and force you to play another game, ofcourse another ''footsie'' game will start to exist to counter their playstyle but it will often revolve more around guessing and involves more risks and will be a lot more random.

I meet alot of randoms on xbl or in other ppls parties who do this. Get mad cause they cant land gimmicks

Ok. Reads are part of it. Good Footsies just decrease the risk and bad footsies increase the risk but no matter what it's still a read.
I don't mind negative frames if it conditions them to hold back after eating 7% over and over. It will open up a ground pound eventually
Agreed. I think NW is good, not super good or anything but def viable.
Stop thinking of projectiles as just projectiles. Think of them as long range pokes with special properties. I swear if you change your mentality your zoning game and your anti zoning game will become much stronger. Just quoting you because you reminded me of this.
I actually do look at some projectiles as pokes. especially if you played streetfighter and have played as ryu before it is hard to not see a projectile(his hadouken) as a poke. People who don't know about street fighter would say ryu is all about zoning but his hadouken is actually used as a poke.
