Each friend has a safari of a type.
Each friend has 3 pokemon that their safari holds
the first 2 can always be caught
the 3rd can only be caught when the friend is online.
There is a much higher chance of hidden ability when friend is online.

you have to beat the elite four and itll take you to the city containing the friend safari which btw has a higher shiny rate i just ran into a shiny ivysaur last night
